If I ever come upon a sniper from behind without being noticed I usually make a point to either blast them point blank in the head with a pistol or empty my rifle into their ear just to make them feel like a n00b on killcam.

^ Crossfire is the one with the somewhat z-shaped street down the middle. There are a ton of multi-story buildings that you can sit in. Also there are some pretty strategically located buildings that give you a clear line of fire down the street.

'Bloc' could be really good too if they had just given it more interior space in the 2 big apartment buildings.

I haven't seen any online. I know that you can get one by pausing midgame or by directing an airstrike.

yeah that board was a bitch...luckily Game Over (the next board) is pretty easy on Veteran...especially once you get past the first few jeeps...also if you didnt already get the achievement, the "Shoot down a helicopter with an RPG" achievement can be gotten on the Game Over board

i'm stuck on the no fighting in the war room level

got to the point where you run down the stairs and have to clear the long hallway.

any tips on how to get to the next checkpoint? i was able to get through the first hallway, but then die at the second everytime. and then i die alot during the first hallway, so it's really annoying to have to clear the first again to attempt the next one.

my little secret - remember that you can go prone. for some reason you faster standing up, at least that my observation. and that long hallway you are talk about, kill the first three guys off the bat, then sprint, you are going to have to take a few hits, and tuck into the right side where there is area that has like shelves and stuff, in other words, no one can get behind you. beware of the enemies straight across however. this is all assuming that we are talking about the same spot. one other secret to cod4 is that the more aggressive you are the least aggressive the enemies is, but more accurate they are, and vice versa, although if they bum rushed you because of your passiveness they will be accurate, but not as quite as when you are the more most aggressive. remember, you are the point man on this level.

Played a 31-5 game last night in Ground War... on Countdown, of all maps. Best single round yet.

I finally unlocked the Barrett, and from what I can see so far, it is a piece of junk. I've been using the M40A3 extensively, and I absolutely love how dependable that gun is. With the Barrett, I can line up an easy center-mass shot from no more than 40 yards away, take the shot... miss. Take another shot... miss. And another... miss. The 4th shot gets the hit. WTF? I know for certain that the M40A3 would make that kill on the first shot.

^^ Indeed, with my sniper loadout. I also use Stopping Power since you can't 1-shot anybody with the M40A3 unless you get a headshot. Hell, I'm also using a mouse and keyboard, and was firing on a completely stationary target. I've had 3 major instances of this happening with the Barrett where I feel completely confident that the M40A3 would have made the kill on the first shot.

juggernaut with the sniper is better in my opinion. just remember that he you hit someone with a shot, it knocks them out of the reticle and you can then shoot them again, this is why i think juggernaut is better.

Eh, I don't really find that Juggernaut does a whole lot for me. (Well, my shotgun loadout is the exception.) Even with it on, I just manage to get shot up with what looks like relative ease and don't feel like Juggernaut would have saved me anyway. I always try my best to stay out of close combat as much as possible until after I've called in helicopter support. To help facilitate this, I prefer the "one shot, one kill" sniping tactic. You put Stopping Power with the M40A3, and you can shoot someone in center mass and kill 'em with one bullet. It's because of this that I have learned to love maps like Bog, Crossfire, and Bloc because they have some really nice sniping positions which are a little less obvious and are challenging to retaliate against once you put down some claymores.

axe, I would be interested to hear where you hide on those maps.

Ive never been a fan of the sniper bc I cant seem to stay hidden and always get ran on after a kill.

hide?

haha

there is no need to hide. i run around with sniper almost like i have a machine gun, and avg ~ 17 kills a game with the sniper. axelay, you must not have a 'swagger', ie can move side to side, dodging and keeping a relatively steady aim. i can def tell a differnece with juggernaut and the only reason you can't tell the difference is that you don't move around enough - it seems to me that the more aggressive or the more you 'swagger' the harder it is for you to die unless you get shot in the head. it seems like the game is programmed to give you a tiny health bonus if you move a lot, and also what you hit people while you are hurt you get a little health bonus - you ever seen the 'red cross' that looks like a logo for red cross, thats what that is. all in all, just be way more agressive and you should see a difference, just the same as playing on veteran - you can't beat the game on veteran if you are not aggressive enough.

No, I definitely am more of a defensive player than an offensive one. I'm much more of a "pick a spot and shoot as many people as possible from that spot until discovered" player then I am a "track meet with rifles" player. The whole run and gun mentality has never been my type, which is why Veteran seems so obnoxious. The whole continuous spawning of enemies from out of places which you JUST secured seems really ridiculous to me.

I do watch the killcam all the time and see the red cross when I'm using a loadout with Juggernaut. It just doesn't seem to save me in most situations. I guess I'd prefer to be able to take someone down with as little effort as possible as opposed to trying to outlast someone in close quarters. Even with a mouse I'm not that good, so a controller would be a nightmare for me.

The whole nature of hiding in this game is purely circumstantial. If you're playing against seasoned opponents who know EXACTLY what to look for, then there are very few good vantage points from which to snipe. I'd really like to have a side-by-side 1-on-1 game set up whereby I move my guy into a particular spot and then look on my opponent's screen to see exactly how much of me he can see. I'm constantly trying to find the really strange places where people don't expect to look: under armored vehicles, in or on wreckage, even sometimes on top of parked cars. It's not great cover, but since most people don't think to look there, you can get a few good kills before people catch on. Oh, and trash cans are some of my very favorites. There's one spot on Bog in which - for the life of me I can't figure out - you can spend an entire match not moving at all. It's almost like people aren't watching the killcam.

i think people have this concept all wrong. they don't continually respawn - is that the enemies behind those that you just killed while sitting still will run up on you, no matter how far back they are, if you don't move. there is a set number of enemy per level, i heard a developer say that in an interview, and also, sometime if you don't move, the enemy behind those that you just killed will find sneaky spots to hide so when you when you do start to move and when you least expect it BAM right in face.

I kept dying like 30+ times in a row on the very last scene... turns out there was some random NPC back in the distance about 50m behind a truck that kept shooting me when I was "done"... took me forever to figure out what the hell was stopping me from finishing the game. At first I thought he was part of it and I spent FOREVER trying to off him with no luck. Had to restart the level to fix it.
