The new Doves song "Kingdom of Rust" is really good.
http://stereogum.com/archives/video/new-doves-video-kingdom-of-rust_052281.html#more

The Doves always remind of a way more exciting Travis for some reason.

I love me some Doves.

Their record and the new Midlake are two my most highly anticipated albums for 2009.

It really is a perfect album.

here's another link for the Fanfarlo record too.

If you like Beirut, Andrew Bird and Arcade Fire, then you should check out Fanfarlo.

That Fanfarlo album is fucking fantastic.

It seriously sounds like David Byrne singing lead for Arcade Fire, with a bit of Beirut mixed in there.

This album is a must listen, peoples.

Yeah, that's a great track.

Between this and the Timber Timbre album, 2009 is off to a fantastic start.

I still haven't got around to the Akron/Family record yet.

I love both of those albums. Exciting start to the year. But yeah, both pretty terrible band names. If somebody were to ask me what I was listening to I think I'd prefer to just make something up instead of saying "The Pains of Being Pure at Heart".

War Child Heroes --- cover album posted earlier

btw -- is anyone else listening to the new Dan Auerbach? (solo record from one of the members of the Black Keys). It's pretty damn solid.

how about a link for the new Dark Was the Night compilation album? 32 tracks on 2 discs.

I'm probably going to purchase this regardless, it has some pretty awesome tracks on it.

I really enjoy some of that new Neko Case, but never really listened to her older stuff. Do her other solo albums have the same style/sound/vibe?

1/3rd through the new u2

thank the lord... much more unforgettable fire/actung/zooropa than the last 2 albums

we'll see how much sticks

gah...and as soon as i say that they go right back into mediocre behind/atomic bomb territory... at least there's some new sounds in it

lol first minute of track 8...radiohead like hell

thank the lord... past two songs... album got better again
