Not sure where to put this but with the increase in "lol, democrats are the party of segregation and the KKK" tweets and statements id like to try and understand the ideological history of American politics some more. Not just the GOP and Democrats but other defunct parties as well. Obviously the ideology of every party has changed drastically over time but it's hard to find historical accounts without hackery involved.

Anyone have any links?

Is there anyone now on this board who is actually arguing FOR leaving the flag flying on state grounds?

I've heard the argument about the Swastika, how it was a symbol of peace and the Nazi's corrupted it. Ok, but you don't see peaceful people flying swastikas these days. So you say the flag is a symbol of heritage and history etc, and it was corrupted by the KKK and white supremacists. I can buy that too. But because of that corruption, its meaning has changed.

I have no problem with people flying it on their private property, or putting it on their cars, or whatever. But for gubment business, it needs to stay away. It also needs to make its way out of the courthouses, if they're still there. I mean, I only know they have them from Matlock, but still.

Its ok on cars, as long as its not a state issued plate. If I can't put suckmydick on a plate, you can't put a racist emblem on it either.

And the supreme court just ruled on a issue with the rebel plates. I'm happy to see this flag going away.
