That was a huge 3 from jack at the end of regulation. And good to see dudley try to get the three at the end and good no call. Nice OT win, unlike the magic game. 1/27/2010 9:48:33 AM |

Tonight vs the Warriors is a very winnable game and one that Bobcats really need to continue the momentum on this roadie. I know Jack is gonna be pumped up for this one.

We're playing with house money tonight
If we win it's a big bonus to come back to Charlotte with a winning record, but losing and going .500 on this trip isn't the worst thing ever
Here's G-Force's letter about the All Star game selection:
Quote : | "First of all I just want to express how thankful I am to be selected. This is a great accomplishment for me and the entire Bobcats organization. This was one of my personal goals and I never could have got here without the help of my teammates and (Head) Coach (Larry) Brown mentoring me and strengthening my abilities. I’m just thankful for this opportunity.
I pretty much found out right before the plane took off (for Golden State). My plans are basically just to have fun and enjoy it as much as I can. This is my first opportunity as a participant in the game, and I just want to go out and enjoy my time there.
The coaches called me and my agent called me. (Earlier than today) I kind of figured when I talked to my agent that I was going to make it, but he wasn’t sure. It was one of those times where I didn’t really want to know anything before the announcement because I didn’t want to get my hopes up only to be crushed. When I found out, I actually felt kind of relieved, but I felt great too. Like I said, this was one of my personal goals, but at the same time, I’d rather make the playoffs. I’m hoping this is just the start, because what I really want is to finish this season in the playoffs.
Before I was picked for the slam dunk competition, I told my agent that I wanted to do whatever it took to be a part of this All-Star weekend. I think it is going to be a historical one, being that it’s in Dallas and the expected crowd is supposed to be huge. I wanted to be in it, and I told him that if I couldn’t make the game, then to sign me up for the slam dunk contest. My family and my friends all said, “Don’t you think you’re a little too old for that?” But I just wanted to go out have fun and be a part of it in some way, and now I’m going to.
The slam dunk contest is second in my mind right now. I’m so nervous about the All-Star Game that I can’t even think about the dunk competition right now. I think by the time I get there, it’s not going to be about winning. It’s just going to be about making my dunks and not embarrassing myself.
My teammates were great. They were excited, and all of these guys know what this game is about and really wanted me to get on there. I think everyone is excited, and I do know that some guys have been joking with me about getting their cut – but everyone’s been great. I think half of my family is already booked to go down there. They were excited about me being in the slam dunk contest and hopeful about me getting into the All-Star Game, so it’s going to be important for me to share this with my immediate family, and especially my brother – because this is really exciting for him. I’m not sure if my mom is going to be able to make it, but I’m going to take my kids and let them enjoy it as much as I am.
The fans here were great, too. The entire city of Charlotte really seemed to be getting behind me, and I thank them for that and everything they’ve done for me and help me accomplish that goal of mine.
I also heard that Charles (Barkley), Kenny (Smith) and the guys at TNT were excited for me and thought it was really deserved and that means a lot that guys like that appreciate what I do to go out every night and try to help my team win. It’s also means a lot that the coaches were the ones to vote me in. I think they see a lot more than what some of the fans might see behind the scenes. They see guys playing who are beat up or injured, but going out and fighting every night while trying to help their team win. It’s not always about scoring, but about doing all of the things that can make you a great player, and I think the coaches recognize that coming from the position that they’re in.
I think this selection does it a lot, not only for the team, but for the organization as a whole and the city as well. Hopefully now they’ll put us on TV a little bit more, who knows? But to acknowledge that we’re one of the contending teams and give me the opportunity to represent this organization and this city in the All-Star game is great. I’m not sure if Dwyane Wade is going to take No. 3 or not, but I don’t care – they can give me any number they want." |

good try overall...in a positition to hit a game tying 3 with 9 seconds left
and we throw it away on the inbounds
oh well, we're still one of two teams (other is the Celtics) with winning records against the Lakers over our entire franchise history
this was the first time the Lakers beat the Bobcats in LA since 2005

So frustrating. Jackson and Nazr go OFF without wallace playing and we can't get even a minor contribution from Diaw. Had enough of that guy, we could make some noise in the playoffs if Diaw and Augustin didn't suck so hard this year. 2/4/2010 1:44:59 AM |
Ribs All American 10713 Posts user info edit post |
He did play bad last night, but Diaw put up pretty good numbers in Jan. They are limited at PF for sure. That is the position that really needs to be addressed through free agency or the draft this summer.
As for DJ, he's our back up PG and Ray Ray has been playing his ass off lately so he hasn't really been called on to make significant contributions. He didn't really have his head right at the start of the season and found LB's dog house for a min, but he looks like he's been picking up on the offense and playing a little better the last 6 weeks or so.
I'm pretty pissed about the TO with 9 seconds left though. We still had a timeout and if the initial play wasn't there, they should have burned it instead of forcing it and allowing Farmar to make a play on the inbounds pass. Still, .500 with a couple blown opportunities in LA and Denver ain't bad for that trip.
We should be able to make up some more ground with these next 4: NO, WASH, @MINN, NJ
3-1 would be really nice out of that set

I think we rattle off four straight wins here to really wrap up our playoff spot.
Funny, people were saying we were going to suck this season and then that acquiring Jackson was a stupid trade. NBA never ceases to amaze me how little the media and fans know about it...
At this point, only an injury train can stop us from making the playoffs this season. I really don't care if we lock in the 5,6, or 7 seed. The main thing is we do NOT want to face the Magic in the first round because we can't hang with them in a series.
The Celtics and the Hawks are definitely beatable. We'd have a better shot against the Hawks but I'd rather face the Celtics just for the excitement factor. I'd prefer to get the Celts rd 1 in the 4/5 spot so we can take a shot at the Cavs (who we actually matchup well with) 2/6/2010 4:09:52 PM |

We got totally dominated in the 2nd half.
Larry Brown is a great coach but I don't understand his obsession with Flip Murray.
Flip has been terrible this year and he still plays him constantly. We don't need his ballhogging ass out there throwing up bricks every night.
I understood the need for him in the offseason but now that we have Jackson we have no need for his "contributions".
Flip has defined himself over ten seasons as a guy who can create his own shot for your 2nd unit if you are in dire need of offense. We don't need that anymore. Get him off the team, immediately.
Oh yeah and Diaw is simply HORRIBLE this year. I know there isn't a team stupid enough to take him in a trade but please for the love of god try anyway 2/7/2010 12:17:01 AM |

i think if a burglar broke into Diaw's house and demanded he either A)give him all his cash or B)attempt a 3-pointer in the backyard, Diaw would reply "cash or check?" 2/7/2010 4:07:40 AM |

^^^ wat?
I'm convinced you don't even watch the games. Flip has been hitting big shot after big shot for this team lately. How you can say we don't need instant offense is beyond me. Every team needs a shooter off the bench. His late game 3's have kept us in it a bunch of times so far this season.
When you need a bucket late in the game and you have G, Jack, and Flip all on the floor at the same time that's ideal. Teams usually can't guard three scorers in those situations and a drive and kick will almost always yield a good look which Flip usually knocks down. Then, Brown can sub offense for defense with Graham and you have two specialists alternating.
The guy is filling the perfect role for his game and LB is maximizing his talent. 2/7/2010 9:52:26 AM |

Instant Offense? Don't you mean instant bricks.
He's having an awful season by pretty much any metric.
Only Diaw and DJ have been worse by WoW.
I haven't seen all the games but everytime I see him (last night for example) he's throwing up brick after brick and ballhogging. 2/7/2010 11:30:59 AM |

You're right I'm a total idiot. I've only seen us play 20 games this season and he has been awful in nearly all of them.
He's shooting 38% FG, 32% 3's, and averaging 1.4 turnovers in 21 minutes.
Where the hell are we going to get anyone else to score so efficiently?
WoW has him producing NEGATIVE .1 wins this season for us at the halfway mark. That is fucking horrible, and to be honest I'm surprised it's not worse given how awful he's been. 2/7/2010 11:49:07 AM |

I'm not the one arguing someone with a NEGATIVE impact on our team's production is a good player. I mean come on man, I don't care what you say about metrics you can't discredit them to the point that good players are bad and bad players are good.
Would you argue Wallace has sucked this year? He's ranked #2 in the Eastern Conference in wins produced. See, how it just doesn't work either way... 2/7/2010 12:21:43 PM |

you can make stats say anything you want them to say
Flip would be averaging 23 pts a night if he played 40 minutes which would put him in the top ten in the NBA in terms of production. See how that works.
Fact is, Flip isn't afraid to take a big shot and make it. We look to him in the clutch and he has done a good job of delivering up until this point in the season.
No stat line is going to show you that, but he is the perfect utility player.
Larry Brown is notorious for letting a guy rot on the bench if he isn't producing and doing what he is asked of by the coaching staff, yet Flip plays about 20 min a night.
So know are you going to tell me that HOF coach Larry Brown doesn't know what he is doing? 2/7/2010 12:55:31 PM |

Lol, he obviously isn't afraid to miss it either since he's doing it at such a torrid pace.
You are not going to win this argument. The average player produces .10 WP/48. He has a NEGATIVE number. That's impressive.2/7/2010 12:59:58 PM |

I still don't understand why Boris played 45 minutes or so last night. He pump faked more than Dennis Horner, with nobody near him. I think half of New Orleans' points were as a result of his poor defense (not stepping out, not moving, not getting a hand up). Nazr Mohammed scored 15 in the 1st half, and yet I don't remember seeing him out there hardly at all after halftime (not at all in the 4th). Hell, I think Diop played more than Nazr in the 2nd half. And yeah, Flip couldn't hit free throws worth a flip last night. Outside of sitting beside some little douche that was a Hornets fan, it was a fun night, but frustrating to see how they lost that game. 2/7/2010 3:12:47 PM |
