you guys remind me of the stories about people believing sex with a virgin will cure aids.
Quote : | "they are probably safer in the car on an open road than they are in a house where trees could fall on them" |
are you really this uninformed? I thought all these kind of awareness issues were taken care of after katrina. no wonder so many people still die in storms
Would you really rather have a tree hit your car with you in it than your house?
Do you not know that only 2 about feet of water can easily sweep away a large suv?10/15/2009 5:51:53 PM |

this is great. and being in a hurrincane is not extremely dangerous. nothing like a tornado where the wind will pick up your car or house and throw it hundreds of feet. i've been in 2 hurricanes in my life, and had the center pass very close to where I was, and everything was fine, minus some shingles missing and a few trees down. (wasn't in a trailer) how is it so bad to drive where a hurrincane is? most people die from flood waters during a hurricane, and a few from flying debris. if you are in a car on high ground you should be relativly safe. not as safe as being in a basement or fall out shelter, but you aren't going to instantly die. if they enjoy it, let them do it. the family is a little out there, but its no worse than driving real fast, skydiving, or any other 'extreme' activity. 10/15/2009 6:01:38 PM |

okay, i might not be smart enough to understand all your moonman talk, but i am clever enough (just barely) to use Teh Google
so next time you want to impress some civvies with fancy jargon, you might want to know that Flight Levels (FL) are in increments of 100 feet, and 13000 ft above sea level is FL130.10/15/2009 6:02:03 PM |

in the VERY SAME video, the dad points out TWO trucks that had been blown over sideways in teh Hurricane.
Houses are fine for Hurricanes, Cars...not so much, especially right in the eye and eye wall.
ive done it three times and 2/3 had my truck actually moved on teh road by hurricane force winds.10/15/2009 6:05:14 PM |

nobody said anything about being in a tornado. chasing tornadoes doesn't put you anywhere near the tornado if done right(tornadoes are small remember). chasing hurricanes puts you in the most intense part of the hurricane (the eyewall) when done right. chasing a major hurricane means at least 4-8 hours with no 911, or access to anything as well as continuous gale force winds during that entire period. objects become projectiles and embedded tornadoes drop out of nowhere without you being able to see them.
most people die from flood waters because of the area affected by the rain of a hurricane is so large. The eye and the winds of the eyewall on hit such a small area relative to the size of the entire hurricane. In a cat3 hurricane you get much more than just shingles. windows, rooves and entire structures begin to fail and blow out.
Most people that think they've been in a major hurricane haven't been in its eyewall.
Also driving extremely fast without children in the car is a crime. With I would imagine much worse.
and skydiving is safe

...and in any case, there is not even such a thing as FL130, at least in the United States. The transition altitude here is 18,000', (i.e., FL180). In the U.S., anything below that is simply reported as thousands of feet (to be perfectly correct, you would say it as "one-three thousand"). Other countries have different transition altitudes.10/15/2009 6:35:52 PM |

i think the dad is behind this based on the other shit he does with his kids.
why was it inflated in the first place?
wouldnt it have had to be inflated that day or the night before considering the weather there?
why would you inflate something with all that helium when you arent even working on it, and what kind of work would he be doing on that contraption that would require it to be inflated with helium anyway?
not adding up to a kids mistake at all 10/15/2009 6:45:12 PM |
