Was anyone besides me blown away by Woods? I really thought it was spectacular. Watching the one dude on the floor make spectral noises through what looked like a WW2 gas-mask was pretty fucking awesome. The people I was with found it to be a bit too jammy, but I was wasted and loving it. 9/13/2010 1:26:36 AM |

I ran to berkeley after Dungen for like 10 minutes of Kylesa for some reason. Then I ran back to Pour House and Woods were playing but I was tired from running and sat on the stairs.
Oh somewhere in there I checked out Washed Out for literally about 14 seconds and decided "NO" and left. 9/13/2010 1:35:30 AM |

yeah man that was amazing. had to be one of my favorites / if not my favorite moment of the entire festival. Really great way to close it out.
due to work i had to miss a lot of the Thursday night shows. I'm sad i missed i missed Future Islands / Javelin / war on drugs / best coast. i was soooooooooooo disappointed with the Rosebuds set
worst shows: No Age, Panda Bear most disappointing show: Rosebuds
the show that brought the LOLs: Raekwon (insert gun shots and explosions here) and Public Enemy
my favorite shows were: Megafaun, Love Language, Ponderosa, BSS, Parts of PE Really enjoyed Bright Young Things, The Golden Boys, Harlem (second show)
loved seeing everyone out there / great way to start a festival. i will be going VIP next year.

best weekend of the last 3 years for me
I'll be going VIP next year if not playing again.
saw 21 bands and was completely zombied by the end of each night yet still managed to wake up each morning for MORE!!!
what a success.
favorite bands: collections of colonies of bees (saw twice), bear in heaven, sharon van etten, dex romweber completely owned slims, meh: atlas sound
and i definitely enjoyed locrian and ben frost. motor skills were neat. Gray young tore the house up.
The sound guy at the pour house sucked ass. I wanted to apologize to all the bands because he was so terrible.

i'm doing my writeups now
i still think the best set of the weekend for me was the early harlem set
same amount of energy spread across fewer songs
the one guy completely soaked through his t-shirt in under 30 minutes 9/13/2010 1:24:03 PM |

Jac Cain?
the dude is regarded by many to be one of the best sound guys in Raleigh.

jac's a good guy, but he can be gruff
especially when he's working basically non-stop for three days and has to be at the goddamn bar at 9:30 AM after akron/family played past 2:30 the night before
perhaps mr. guess caught him at the wrong moment 9/13/2010 1:54:48 PM |

The whole weekend was pretty fucking amazing. If I can be sappy for a second, even besides the music, it was great to see just about everyone I know in Raleigh downtown and in such a jovial mood and everything. It was a great, exciting vibe all weekend everywhere I went. Kudos to Grayson and the Indy and everyone for making this happen, already looking forward to next year.
Saw Gray Young, Deakin, Cults, Best Coast, Sleepy Sun, Akron/Family, The Rosebuds, BSS, Panda Bear, Spider Bags, Sharon van Etten (2 sets), Schooner, The War on Drugs, the tail-end of Atlas Sound, The Love Language, No Age, Public Enemy, Nomo, Bear in Heaven, Washed Out, Tortoise (also, The Pixies last night in Asheville, who were really tight after all these years). Enjoyed everything I saw to some degree, with the exception of Cults and No Age, who I thought were fucking awful and played louder than I thought was even possible, to the point where you couldn't hear the actual music the way you should because it was just too fucking loud. Did not like their set whatsoever. Public Enemy was a lot of fun, though. Also, to be honest, I was a little disappointed by Bear in Heaven, but that might be because I had such high hopes. Favorite sets of the weekend were The War on Drugs, Sharon van Etten, and Broken Social Scene. van Etten is fucking amazing as are The War on Drugs live. 9/13/2010 3:33:45 PM |

that was my second favorite after the love language.

Sharon Van Etten was probably my favorite (though that is likely at least partially because I watched it next to Megafaun and Bowerbirds right next to me in the stairwell), followed by Public Enemy and Best Coast.9/13/2010 11:06:15 PM |

I've been to Bonnaroo four times, Ultra, Langerado, The Fest, and Hopscotch.
Hopscotch was the best run out of the five by a lot. (ultra was the worst).
One of my favorite tiny moments was during Harlem's night set, during Gay Human Bones.
At the post-first-chorus pause some guy beside me and i made eye contact and i said 'or so they tell me.' and then he said 'or so they tell me.' and then harlem said 'or so they tell me.'
den we made out, no homo doe

I really dug the NOMO set. One of my favorite sets of Saturday night. Thought they sounded really good, crowd seemed to be having a good time. Definitely liked it more than Bear in Heaven, but that might've been because I had really high hopes for BIH.
Also, goodlife...not to be a dick but in no way whatsoever did they sound anything like DMB. Can't give you that one.

Also, speaking of Public Enemy, what the fuck was up with that Crew Girl Order shit or whatever the fuck their name was? I haven't been to a lot of big-name hip-hop shows, admittedly, but why would they have a "warm-up" act? Isn't that what The Love Language and No Age were? Thought that was weird and crowd around me was getting a little rowdy around me during their set, not in a good way, but in a "what the fuck, bring on Public Enemy" kind of way. 9/15/2010 5:56:42 PM |
