the problem of untrained security screeners could have been solved much better than creating a new government agency (with little accountability).

The federal labor relation authority just voted to allow tsa to vote on union representation.

I guess I went through one of these a while back without even realizing it. I was randomly pulled for additional screening at RDU and was told to stand in the scanner. The guy assured me that he wouldn't be able to see me naked.

Also, I had on a short dress, which would have made for a really awkward pat down

^ I hadn't thought of that. I guess if you are in a dress or short skirt they kind of have to fondle your underpants. Better remember to wear them at the airport.

does anyone actually use vaseline to yank it?

it does not seem like it would make for a good experience.

My dad was saying he wants to wear a kilt next time he flies on business. I double dog dared him to do it. Now I have to find him a kilt before January.

but aren't TSA members only allowed to give pat downs? if so, it'll probably be pretty easy to do it over a kilt.

Last time I flew I was randomly pulled and put in some big scanning machine thing I guess it was this thing. I dont think they told me anything about what it was just that it did a more thorough job than the metal detectors and such. I still could probably care less I dont think anyone cares about seeing me naked

just for the record i do not have a problem with TSA looking at my naughty bits nor do i have a problem looking at Joie's naughty bits.

also...on my way back from Mexico with my wife she had to go through the scanner thing. i wanted to see the image it produced but they wouldn't let me. i thought that was fucked up. i bet they could see all of her piercings.

It's just that the declaration of "I don't care" is taken as the coolest thing somebody from our generation can say in a political discussion/argument. Not caring is better than looking silly by having a position

<3 tho

oh gosh no. no no no no no.

like i said earlier. i dont fly that often so having such a certain stance on this doesnt really affect me. and honestly i dont have enough real information to make an informed decision.

ive noticed that a lot of time i make pretty piss poor decisions b/c im just not well informed or versed on the subject. :/

this is one of those times.

in short, im pretty ignorant in a lot of areas. :/

As a person whome everyone in my family other than me works in the airline biz.
I think it's messed up that my dad who literally rips apart entire airplanes and puts them back together to replace aged parts gets his bag searched when he gets on a plane.... People if he wanted something on the plane he would do it while building it not when walking through security.

My sister who is a pilot won't fly with her kids until they are 5 follow her example and spare your kids health and every one elses sanity.

That being said the scannersbother me but I don't own the planes or airport so I shouldn't have any say what goes on there. If you buy your own plane you won't scanned

"Hmm I don't own these things that a government agency is regulating, therefore I cannot have an opinion about what that government agency does"

What the fuck is going through your head? What do you imagine these agencies are here to do? They're here to serve US. That is the only purpose of a public agency; to serve the interests of the public.

Nothing about this serves our interest. It serves the interests of those selling the machines (fleecing us further), and the interests of those who want a more docile, more submissive public (like you).

People let the illegal wiretaps slide. Now they're letting the government photograph their wife and kids naked and fondle their little boy's grapes lol. You people are fucking out of this world. Stop letting other people control you, you are fucking brainwashed

the TSA."

There exists a reasonable risk of harm to others' person and property if a privately owned commercial plane is bombed and crashes.

If it were left up the owners, they might decide not to take measures to prevent this.

We libertarians know that the proper role of government is to protect people's person, property, liberty, and right to the same from unreasonable harm or risk of harm. (Left of center laws...etc.) It is reasonable to assume that a plane would be bombed if inadequate security measures were taken, therefore, the role of government to protect persons and property from unreasonable risk of harm from airline bombings by requiring adequate security measures, within reason, is just.

So.....the TSA doesn't own the planes. Airlines do.

Are you arguing that in order to use an airport, you must submit to a scan? The TSA doesn't own the airport either. I'm not fully grasping the reason one would have to own a plane to not get scanned. It would seem to me if someone were intent on blowing up a plane, it would be easier to do so if you did own your own plane.
