Caught a few trout this weekend at Harpers creek...One brown about 12 inches. More people in the area than I've ever seen and they were running a marathon on the single lane dirt road up the mountain to the trailhead. What is normally a 30 minute drive took about 90 minutes

also, the fact that i had the dog with me made it hard to fish effectively.

Went out to Jordan Saturday and Sunday and did some crappie fishing. Did ok seeing as how i didnt have any electronics. Caught a bunch of small fish.

I was going to go bass fishing Sunday morning, but im glad i didnt. Every report i have heard said the bass fishing was terrible this weekend at all three triangle lakes.

Trout fishing has slowly been picking up in the creeks. My dad's been catching a lot this week with a keeper here and there. I'm headed out in the morning.

I went down and fished the Haw River maybe 2 weeks ago about a quarter mile up from Jordan. Caught a few small bass and bream but wanted to know if anyone fishes that regularly and if so what is the best time of year to go and do you every get any bigger fish up in there?

should be about Bowfin time

for the larger fish you might need to go more towards the mouths of tributaries to larger rivers and lakes and what not

wlb let me know how you do in the mountains, im going the week after to Andrews, will probably fish the nantahala dam

Porcha, Crappie bite is decent now. Farrington bridge on Jordan 10-20 FOW. Caught on minnows and jigs, mostly tightlining. They are in a transition stage right now, they just moved off of the rocks and they will be heading to deeper water as soon as it cools a bit more, but this fair weather should keep them in place through the weekend.
The striper bite on Kerr has been decent. Not alot of keepers are being pulled up. Get out there and watch the birds and you can find them. They were between the clarksville bridges earlier this week and usually run up and down the northern shoreline near the Occeneechee ramp near the bridges. You can troll for them or just watch for the schools busting bait and cast at them. It may be early, but they always tend to end up in Grassy Creek once it gets a bit cooler. same strategy, watch for birds and chase, or get out the electronics and start trolling.

Other than that not too much is going on around here, sometimes the late fall/winter bite gets tough. I have heard mixed reports about Falls. Some people seem to be having success with schooling LMB and white bass from bartons creek to the dam.

I never seem to catch anything impressive... Sheepshead and Red Fish I caught while kayak fishing in Anastasia State Park near St. Augustine, Florida. Same day I was almost flipped by a tarpon

ha i was actually reading this article yesterday about people that target Tarpon on the fly in float tubes

how the fuck does that seem fun? thats white folk for ya

^i have never been to farrington but it has been highly recommended, i fish the impoundments on farrington road and catch some of the larger bass that I catch around the triangle, and see some really large carp and 'fins

i would love to get my hook into some white bass, i dont really want to wait til spring, those fish are awesome best pound for pound fights ive had in fresh water

^^you sure it was a sheepshead and not a black drum? kinda looks more like a black drum to me.

sheepshead has one continuous dorsal:

black drum has a split dorsal:

You're probably right about the black drum Despite loving to fish, I'm not great at telling them apart.
