I think his lawyers knew the only chance he had was to keep his mouth shut and not talk to anyone, and putting him on the stand at the last moment was a part of the plan. The defense's cross yesterday may have seemed weak at first but I bet it really struck home with the jury when he had to answer those questions about "working on his marriage".





Anyhow, either way it has not been a boring trial. Who's next?

i don't 'think you can classify jason young as socially awkward.

possibly brad cooper, but thats not socially awkward I think. He was an engineer who was slightly emotionally detached, like many engineers.

I don't think Jason Young is socially awkward, he's just outgoing to the extent that he lacks social graces.

I do think Brad Cooper is socially awkward, but his friends say he just takes a bit to get warmed up. I think that's pretty true for many techie people.

By socially awkward I don't mean shy, quiet, introverted- you can appear outgoing, confident, gregarious, etc but not really know how to act. Michelle Young and Nancy Cooper both made bad decisions with guys who they should have walked away from.

^While they probably made a bad decision to stay married--I fully believe Brad Cooper is not responsible for the murder of Nancy. The jury is out (almost) on whether Young is responsible. I'm still a little on the guilty side, but not as firmly.

I think Judge Stephens would still have screwed over the defense, but he wouldn't have been as stupid or as rude about it. Gessner left the door wide open for being overturned on appeal. Stephens doesn't do that.

The defense's closing was kinda weak EXCEPT for the explanation of his first and second tanks of gas. That, with the two types of shoes, and the cig butts is probably enough reasonable doubt.

my guess is that the jury could relate to this guy. The defense did a good job of puting him on the stand and helpingn select the right jurors. The way he talked, his mannerisms, everything about his behavior i bet the jury could relate with or had friends they could compare to. With brad cooper, he was an engineer and from what I remember many the jurors were low income black women.

Social class warfare at its worst.
