I am beginning to think these maps are gonna be too big to have some good fun on them, that is for me. Others may like gigantic maps, but I am not sure how I feel about it, especially since I don't have an online posse to team up with and form a good strategy ; I would hate to get ALL the way across one of these maps and die as soon as I get to the action. I know I probably could spawn on teammates and mobile spawn points, but still.

I absolutely LOVE the great big maps. There are almost infinite possibilities for creative tactics. I'd rather have that every day of the week instead of something fast-paced where you're trapped like a rat in a maze.

With 64 players, these "big" maps will seem small when you start to fight for the points. I was playing with my clanmates, 20 in all; on the same side and it was epic seeing all 20 of us bum rush a hill to Antenna (E) at the same time. With proper support and teamwork, we dominated the server for a good 10 rounds. It was pretty chaotic in the team speak channel.

At least we got one or two good pilots in our clan to make sure the air is cleared. A good helo or jet pilot will really start to piss you off.

I hit a chopper with a Stinger once and it was down before I could hit it again. I'm guessing two Stinger shots. I tried locking on to the jets but I guess you can't do that with the first Stinger you unlock?

First you disable the vehicle and then you destroy it. Depending on the type of vehicle "disable" means different things, like for a tank it means it can't move but can still fire.

Yeah, I've been seeing that in several videos. Interesting idea. Does this mean that there are no parachutes anymore? Otherwise, disabling a flying vehicle would be just as good as an outright kill, yes? (I mean, maybe a helicopter could auto-rotate down...) Why wouldn't you just immediately bail out of a disabled flying vehicle like you've previously been able to?

What kinds of customization can be done to the aircraft? I saw a video where a guy was using AGMs to hunt down tanks, and this was just so much fun to watch. I still hope that there are dumb bombs which can be dropped en masse on a group of targets. Are there still two classes of aircraft - fighters and bombers?

There's paracutes in the game, works about the same as bc2 did although it doesn't open right away. I've noticed that in the jets, it's a mixed in if u can eject if ur jet is disabled. At least for me I couldn't get out at all at that point; half the time I suicide, other times the guy who shot me gets the kill. The jets have a ton of upgrades like missles, stealth, a fire supression sys, and such, hight lvl pilots wil have an edge in the game.

I'm not sure about bombers vs fighters, they are not in the vehicle list. Only surveillance (most likely UAV) and jets. However with all the upgrades for vehicles, a jet could simply change the load out to bombs instead of rockets.

OK, done some more research and found a vehicle unlock list. Not sure how official this is, but so far it matches up with what I've seen in the beta videos.

Anti-air on Caspian Border is the only thing I've done to finish a map in first place.

Like ten jets and five helicopters and toooooons of points, both from damaging vehicles, disabling, killing ground troops, and repairing my tank. It was awesome. About halfway through the game they realized I was going to keep shooting them down, so the jets and helicopter cooperated in attacking me.

I still won. Had a pretty key advantage.

if you have a good jet pilot on your team with rockets, they rule the skies. The mouse controls on the jet suck ass, but if you have an actual controller and joystick, then this is where it pretty much shows.

Get a fan blowing between them ... or create a channel to funnel heat away from the top of your bottom card, or one to channel fresh air to the intake of the top card; which I assume is sucking the hot air right off of the bottom card.

The chances are his cards are ~1/4" apart so you can't easily ventilate the top card in SLI, not large enough for a slot cooler, the only way I've seen to cool them is with a case fan in the front blowing towards the back, or a fan clipped onto the side of the card

My mobo does support triple SLI, but the top two is configured in 16x-16x-1x mode, otherwise I can manually set it to 16x-8x-8x and just omit the middle slot, The only problem is that my sli bridge is only long enough for 2 slots, but I do have a tri-sli card; might try it for shits and giggles. Otherwise I'm gonna have to buy a long sli ribbon cable for it. Not worried about the 2nd card running in 8x mode.

I'm still debating on buying a 5970 or a 570 to replace my 5870.. Pretty much the same price on newegg. Leaning toward the 5970 because of its 2gigs of memory vs. the 1.25gigs on the 570. What do you think will perform better for BF3

This is assuming the 5870 will not be up to the task.

any Fermi card is going out do an equally fast ATI card, until AMD releases their GPGPU and then there is no telling how well the AMD GPGPU will do though.

I wouldn't buy anything right now unless it was on a large sale or a stand alone if you have a terrible card right now.

gameplay & graphics of BF3 are so much better than MW3 (from what one can tell from the MW3 videos) and BF3 is nothing like BC2, so I don't know what you're talking about (coming from someone who's played all CoD & BF series)

You mean a 6970... Anyhow only a few modern games actually can utilize more memory and only if you start to use really high resolutions like 2560x1600 or triple monitors where it starts to really matter. Even in modern games like Dirt 3, you won't even use 1gb at max settings on 1080p. BF3 is a different matter though.

I went from my 5870 to a 570 and now 570 SLI and can't be happier. I only switched because they were on sale. The speed increase from the 5870 to the 570's isn't astounding, in fact they both perform relatively the same, but the 570 is a bit faster in most reguards. I wouldn't even look at the 6970's since the 6950's are just as fast and cost $100 cheaper, plus the good possibility of being able to unlock the dies to become a 6970 is an appealing choice.

While I think AMD holds the great value per dollar figure right now, I'm still going to say nvidia. I've only had issues with my 5870 with their shitty drivers and I'm not alone in this, but if you do get a good 5870 with stable new drivers, then stick with the 5870's till the next gens come out next year. Doesn't make sense to upgrade right now specially if you have a powerful gpu already.

I also wanted my CUDA back so that's made me switch back.

So much speculation in this statement and General Purpose GPU computing is hardly going to play any significant role in gaming. This is only applied to applications that aren't for gaming and both current AMD/nVidia cards are able to do GPGPU accelerations, although they are limited to specific programs that are designed for the their cards.

And I agree with Prospero's response, you don't know what the fuck you are talking about. BC2 is a completely different game than BF3 will be.

And I'll probably get BF3 and MW3, but I'm not pre-ordering MW3 like I did with the shittastic Black Cocks. It was disappointing that it was just another MW2 and MW1 with a stupid Vietnam theme... Until I see something worth wild of a different gameplay mechanics in MW3, I'll wait till it goes on sale for $20 or less... or like WolfAce, play it on a console.

And the fact that MW3 was only announced days after EA showcased BF3 tech demos shows that MW3 is just doing the "me too" shit, but they are still probably going to outsell BF3 with all the stupid frat gamers out there on consoles.

Prospero: I just don't like the gunplay of BC2/BF3 (from what I played in the beta). They feel very similar to me. I know MW3 is gonna be just like the other MW games in the way that it plays, but I like the way that it plays while I could never really get into BC2. Not to mention the BF2 community is still alive and I feel that BF3 is inferior. And graphics don't really matter to me, I still play Quake Live at minimal graphics, Brood War, and CS 1.6.
