Well it was like 9 years ago so my memory might be a bit fuzzy but I do remember a lot of pointless missions of the sort. Kind if like the bro dates in IV that I just ignored the whole time. I am sure it was a good one, that just spoiled it for me. I always was fond of the storyline in Vice City.

In the two hours I was playing I died:
-Getting eaten by a mountain lion
-hitting a 3 foot tall concrete safety pole on an ATV and flipping off the handlebars.
-wrecking a bike
-Having my plane explode when I hit a pole trying to take off
-falling down the side of a mountain I was trying to climb up on foot after I fell off my dirt bike.
-getting hit by a car as I stepped out into the street.
-Shot down by cops after getting 3 stars on me for running out on to the runway of the airport.
-Accidentally pressing Y when driving down the highway at top speed
-Finding out you don't automatically have a parachute just by stealing a plane and bailing out near the top of Mt. Chiliad.

Most of them were pretty understandable, but it was like every time I played I found a new and interesting way to die. My first impression was that they could have eased off just a little bit on the dying thing. But I'm assuming your ability to not die improves as you level up your stats a bit. I don't recall being able to kill yourself just by bailing out of a moving vehicle in any previous GTA games.

I did manage to get a Fire Truck I was driving to sit on the back of a moving train though.

so how does the game begin? Do you start out with the ability to control all 3 characters or just as one until the story progresses?

How are the driving mechanics? I actually enjoyed GTA4's driving but I know a lot of people said it felt too floaty and didn't like it.
