since i can count on one hand how many visits ive made back to raleigh in the last 4-5 years (see you all at Christmas), i can say that in those limited times, the only "new" bar i've enjoyed downtown is foundation. and since i was there on a holiday, im not even sure what the regular clientele is for a place like that, but it was a decent little place to get a cocktail of acceptable quality. probably totally different on an average weekend though im sure.

It's mostly local scene people that share the same disdain for Glenwood south and the like...and play in local bands or bartend at some other local hip place and are between gigs at grad school, etc etc etc.

In other words, if you don't know any of them they all act like snarky downtown Raleigh assholes.

These people look like they're trying sooo hard... at what, I don't know.

I did happen to be on my monthly night out last friday at Raleigh Times. I didn't see any of these types of people there.

So, I have to hope and assume that these photos are a snapshot at the worst of of what Raleigh has to offer.

you guys dont think that these people are paid to photograph certain events?

if so i dont see a problem with these pictures, events rent out bars and they dress for them. If you go out and dont see this every night that might be why.

just seems kind of silly to call these people the worst raleigh has to offer, you act like you werent 20 somethings at some point. LET THEM EAT CAKE...i mean besides a majority of the pictures are people dressed somewhat normal, maybe casual at best.

i am enjoying looking at the TnA, i dont think any less of them for it

They are paid by bud light, miller lite, etc and sometimes the bar itself.

All bar crawls and what not are documented by lazyday. The photographers get paid to take these at these events they have.

I doubt a place that small has its own distillers license or whatever it is that allows someone in NC to make their own spirits. It's much more likely that they stock a variety of small batch spirits and make their own bitters, vermouth, etc and probably infuse the various spirits themselves. a lot of establishments that are similar to Foundation do this.

If they make their own brand of spirits that's pretty impressive for a place that small.

its basically the reason why we have no good DJ's in this town. Anyone who knows how to fucking mix properly only plays in expensive establishments or go to other cities to play. It's most the club promo people's fault for fucking shit up, not the club owners; at least the owners appreciate you a bit at the right time and pay in cash when they are drunk with two girls. But its so hit or miss.

And its sucks cause you need your own equipment and most of the time they got the system wired up with no labels so you have to spend 4 hours prior to get it to work properly.

I remember one time a promoter got so pissed off he yelled at the DJ cause the sound kept fucking up (due to bad wiring in the club, no the DJ's fault). Basically said "your not getting paid tonight, I'll replace you with a CD player" or something like that, but this was like 4 years ago. If the DJ's friends weren't all there, he would have left. At least the cute bartenders gave him free drinks to get drunk later on.
