Plus, look at who we missed out on. It's not like they're lighting it up. Hakeem Nicks has been really bad in Indy so far and showed up out way of shape. He doesn't even figure in their plans right now. Ginn is most likely going to lose a WR role to a rookie in Zona and will be back to KR/PR duties. Smitty has already been in 2 fights in Baltimore.

I'm so glad that Gettleman didn't overpay for any of those guys.

It's always been kind of stupid how the NFL media reported on our off-season. All the guy we lost (except Smith) were bums before the season started, and most of them will be bums again next year. The guys we replaced them with are far more proven players going into the season. Cam's ankle is just fine. The only legitimate hole is at tackle, but no team is flawless. They're looking for excuses to tear down an upstart team that did overachieve a bit last year. There's no reason this team shouldn't be contenders again, especially with the way the offense is shaping up.

I read online that you can pay like 2 bucks for a proxy service that makes NFL Game Pass think that you are from elsewhere, then you can proceed to not worry about blackouts and get the service for like 100 bucks.

If the streams dont do it for me, thats my plan. If I lived closer to Raleigh, I'd be golden with OTA

OTA antenna and a friend's WatchESPN login make it pretty easy to see most State games. pretty much only shafted when it's on Fox Sports Carolinas.

Canes are impossible to watch without cable, but I've gotten over that pretty easily since the Canes suck every year.

Panthers are easy to follow OTA in Raleigh. Only game I'll have to make arrangements for is the Thursday NFL network game. Go to a friend's house or hit a bar once out of 20 games, I can live with it.

Maybe. But an elite defense can keep you in ballgames. And assuming Cam's ankle gets to 100% before the regular season, his mobility makes him better equipped to deal with a shaky offensive line compared to some statue like Manning or Rivers.

There was some comment yesterday...can't find it for the life of me now...that said something to the effect of "We have season tickets to the Panthers and whenever we tell people we're going to see the Panthers play, they always react by saying "is that a high school or a college?" and don't even realize Charlotte has an NFL team". That's definitely bullshit too. I think it was in the comments section...not in the article itself.

But yeah...that series deadspin does is pretty funny.

For the most part I do agree with you ^, that most of the comments are sensationalized, but rooted in some truth. But a lot of the Cam Newton hate I see (or saw...most seems to be gone after last season) was from outsiders...not Panthers fans. Maybe it's just the Panthers fans I talk to and hang around with...but they all like Cam Newton. Most of the criticism it seems like he got was from the media and non-Panthers fans. But that's just from my perspective...my friends and the people I talk with about the Panthers may not be representative of the fanbase as a whole.

Funny this conversation is going on, because I got a new coworker (older white man) and found out he was a Panthers fan.

I asked him about his thoughts on the team and the first thing he said was that he didn't like Cam. I asked him why and he said "the superman thing, he's too cocky for me".

i'm not sold on cam as a good+ NFL starter, but it has nothing to do with cockiness or superman.

it has to do with his near constant sailing of balls over receivers heads.
