DD is a good coach, love his energy and how he builds people up. Feel bad for Chris Dunn, but at least he hit that extra point at the end. He surely had a lot of shit going on in his head at that point.

I was sort of thinking we should go for 2 after the 1st TD to win. Not because of Dunn missing. But it just seems like when you get into a short field battle in OT, the better players and better talent wins out. I was wrong and we won anyways.

La Techs qb was out with covid yesterday when they scored 24. The first 3 games they scored 34, 37 and 45 (didn't check for ST or def scores)

Across all 4 games, two def tds, eight of the off TDs were explosive/over 20 yds. Two this Saturday without starting qb.

Wonder if he'll play Saturday

That spread does seem wild, but on the other hand their games so far were against a MSST team whose defense is significantly better from all accounts. Also, bear in mind the teams they've played against:

- Mississippi State: 34 points (44th defense in FBS, allows 5.28 ypp and 323.2 ypg)
- Southeastern LA: 45 points (T-62nd defense in FCS, allows 5.36 ypp and 380.7 ypg)
- Southern Methodist: 37 points (110th defense in FBS, allows 6.16 ypp and 441.8 ypg)
- North Texas: 24 points (90th defense in FBS, allows 6.06 ypp and 411.8 ypg)

Meanwhile, NC State is 7th in FBS, allowing 4.33 ypp and only 249.0 ypg.

yeah I don’t know anything about La Tech but from the preseason I seem to remember them being expected to be better than USF but definitely not good. ESPN FPI has the 89th. Which is close to Air Force, Wyoming, Troy for example.

Might’ve been #excuses but I remember Miss St D was missing some guys that game due to suspension.

It's wrong. In 2002 we were ranked higher than FSU for 2 weeks (10&11) during the season and ended the season as the highest ranked team.

I don't think it's that he sucks so much as there are just better players in front of him. Durden is a few years older and Vann was maybe slightly higher rated as a recruit. Also he came in incredibly not in shape as a freshman.

Y’all dwelling on past successes, I’m trying to focus on us getting better. I’m just afraid that all of us fans aren’t preparing for the next opponent. What if we, here on tww, overlook La Tech? Gotta take it one game at a time. Can’t take any opponent for granted.
