^^^yeah, i dont think that the wiimote+nunchuck has enough button combinations. The 1 and 2 buttons are not very useful and are not convenient. Other than that you have A, B and Z on the nunchuck. I agree with the need for the GC controller.

the classic controller woudl be a step back from the GC controller. I dont wanna smash with a SNES look-alike.

Melee with the gamecube controller was perfect. I would love if they just had the same control scheme and everything.

Sigh, I knew that the wiimote would be the biggest issue with the wii.

First, many companies will tack on the crappy controls to all games. They need to understand that standard controls are ok too. The Wii needs to have both games that use full control of the Wiimote, and games that use minor amounts of it. It like being able to play a game with my arms 2 feet apart. I also want real games. The niche Dragon Quest bothers me because I loved the series on the NES, and I want to continue to play that, not a on-rails RPG (I still hold hope).

The fanbases are also going to hurt it. You have the people like me who want a wide variety of support. If its a good game, I want to play it, regardless of controls. Its really that simple. Then you are going to have the bandwagon people come in and demand wiimote controls for everything. I'm sorry, but the Zelda controls are perfect. The Super Paper Mario controls are perfect. Anything else is a stretch.

Now this is weird. The Wii and DS are getting new, exclusive versions of Geometry Wars, which include new single and multiplayer modes. It also has the version available on the 360.

"That countdown at http://www.smashbros.com just concluded, revealing ... absolutely nothing, and we don't mean absolutely nothing in a GTAIV-trailer-crashed-our-servers way. The page simply reads "starting today (Japan time)."

What's starting today? Since they're not saying anything, we'll turn to our friends at Nintendo Power, who happen to be really close friends with Nintendo. The "Don't Miss Calendar" in the latest issue -- #217 (pictures prove it's real) -- trumpets "Sakurai delivers the blow by blow." They continue, "Beginning May 22nd, Super Smash Bros. Brawl director Masahiro Sakurai will post a daily blog on smashbros.com regarding the title's progress and any other topics that tickle his fancy."

Nintendo has been pushing a hard line that classic controller = virtual console only.

Well the smashbros.com site has new entries, including a long list of the musicians contributing to the came. Pretty impressive.

^

That's the sort of the thing that'll be revealed in a press event or possibly trickled out over time. Given the variety of musicians involved and their impressive backgrounds, it's pretty noteworthy.

it's really not....like i said...who cares. I'm not gonna buy SSBB because of the music in the background. I mean, this isn't Zelda or Final Fantasy.

yes they do....and I think that they aren't producing as many Wii's as they can because there just aren't enough games out right now. I think that we will see an influx of Wii's after Galaxy, SSBB and Metriod come out.

Neither am I, but given that the content of the game is based on past Nintendo products, the music comprises a large part of the appeal. SSB Melee's tunes were pretty well-received. New levels, moves, and fighters are clearly more important, but that doesn't make the music trivial.

can't say I have ever paid attention to music in Melee. I guess I was too busy making Fox look so smooth. Anyways, I"ll agree to disagree

someone on here said once you beat the cat with the golden gloves (around 1500 or so rating) that you got to use them ....

I beat him 5 times in a row and never got them, the 6th fight i acctually fought someone lower than him so I gave up

Apparently Nintendo held a media summit, but has forbidden the release of any coverage until some unspecified date, whatever that is. Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros. Brawl, and Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (DS game) are all confirmed to come out this year. Other than that, not much info out there, but I'd expect new Smash Bros. details to be forthcoming.

I can see alot of the issues it might face. And knowing how long they like to delay this title I don't think wii will get to play for at least a while.

"Notice how the Wii remote fits snugly into the guitar shell. Although the remote would rest in the guitar's indentation, the peripheral itself would need to plug into the bottom of Nintendo's controller in order to utilize its wireless abilities and precise accelerometer. That aside, the shell would be almost indistinguishable from other versions.

In a recent interview with IGN, RedOctane's cofounder and president, Kai Huang, revealed that the Wii build of Guitar Hero III would "… have all the features of the other version of Guitar Hero III and some new Wii-specific features." Bearing that in mind, it's possible that Activision may utilize the Wii remote's internal speaker to play sound cues or, if we're really lucky, take advantage of its accelerometer for a style system more complex than Guitar Hero fans have ever experienced before. "

i wish they would come out with more information regarding fighting abilities.

Can you grab/juggle in air?
Can you combo in the air?

Also, I want to know why they don't have destructible environments. I think that would really be cool.

also, the "gooey bombs" look like they spent all of 5 seconds making it. Congrats on making a sphere inside another sphere?

^Some characters in melee could grab in the air. Everyone could juggle in the air. Everyone could combo in the air. There were lots of destructible environments. I'm pretty sure that if you could do it in melee you can do it in brawl.
