well tickets just went on sale and i bought some. i kind of expect i won't actually be able to get in to see the avett brothers, but lonnie walker and the annuals are a nice consolation prize i suppose.

i'll include the link for PAGE 80:

I just got tickets. But the only band I know is the Avett Bros, so I better be able to get in.

tickets just sold out, looks like.

annuals and lonnie walker are also good. hammer no more the fingers aren't bad, and i haven't heard the love language, birds of avalon, or gross ghost but i've heard good things.

They will more than likely release more tickets. I can't imagine a three-venue affair selling out so quickly; even when padded with the Avetts.

I don't know why Annuals are even a band anymore

also, there are going to be a ton of whiny Avett Brothers fans after they get to Kings and it's already full

because people still like their music?

so many fucking music snobs on this forum. so you don't like them, big fucking deal. a band doesn't have to be universally loved to justify their existence.

As someone in the Triangle area who hasn't heard the Love Language, I'd venture to say you're probably not a fan of music, so I'm sure anybody critiquing bands with statements like that present a foreign concept to you in simply 'being a fan of music.'

^^^yeah, seriously. They're not only whiny, but abrasive, rude, drunk, etc. Will sure to be a bro of a show. That being said, I'm gonna see them, as being with friends! (I don't necessarily mind the Avetts in small venues).

Bought a ticket. Jed Gant comes into Schoolkids a lot and he's a super nice guy, so I figured I might as well. Terrible that his kid has cancer, can't imagine how that's been for them.

Think I'll try to go to Spider Bags and Whatever Brains and then make my way toward Kings to get there early enough to see that Avett Brothers set. I'm not really a fan of the Avett Brothers, but might as well try to see that since there'll probably never be another opportunity to see them in a venue of that size again (I remember when they played Raleigh a year or two back and everyone was saying they were gonna do a surprise aftershow at Kings, as far as I remember that never materialized). If I can't get in, I'll just go see The Love Language.

Do you guys think an hour, hour and a half early at Kings will be enough to get in for the Avetts?

So, those are pretty much my sentiments. I was at that show they put on at the Cradle a year ago. It wasn't spectacular, but I have a lot of friends into them.

I'd say get there no later than Filthybird.

I don't mind the Avetts either

I just think that there will be a handful of their fans who aren't familiar with Kings who will show up 30 minutes before their set and be told the room is full

I've only been to maybe like 4-5 Avett Brothers shows. There was only one where there wasn't an incident that formed around somebody being terribly drunk.

Good times.

i inferred that you didn't like them when you said you didn't know why they were a band anymore. i guess i was wrong about that and apparently don't understand what you meant by that remark. so nevermind then.

and yeah, i fully expect to be in that crowd that gets to king's too late to catch the avett brothers. i'm just glad that there's a good backup show to go to if that happens.

^yeah that's what i'm thinking too, unfortunately. i also hope they don't release more tickets. the fewer they sell, the better shot i have at getting into kings in time for avett brothers if i show up around 10:30.

i know who they are, and have heard maybe one or two of their songs. i also know they're from the area. i just haven't been to one of their shows and haven't heard enough of their music to comment on them. if that invalidates my opinion about anything and everything, then so be it. i did say i'd heard good things.

also, jesus fucking christ you people. that is all.

The Beach Boys (w/Brian Wilson) at Raleigh Amphitheatre on Sunday, April 29

Preemptively to anyone who takes this opportunity to make fun of Brian Wilson for his/The Beach Boys' performance at the Grammys this past Sunday: fuck you and grow a soul.

I hate Mike Love and Bruce Johnston so much, it makes me not want to go.

However, the confirmed inclusion of John Stamos might be worth it.

^I know Mike Love said at the Grammys that Uncle Jesse would be coming with them on tour, but I think he was saying that in jest. The press release makes it sound like it's just going to be the five guys billed (Wilson, Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and David Marks) and I thought I saw an earlier press release stating that Brian Wilson's band would be joining them.

Either way, if Brian Wilson's in, then I'm in. The songs are so great that I'm not gonna let the actions of one enormous douchebag (Love) keep me from enjoying them.

Kraftwerk is playing their discography at the MoMa in mid-April. I'm just about crazy enough to go. either on the 12, 13, 14 or 17th.

^Well, fuck.

^^I'd kill to go to one of those shows (specifically the 4/12 TEE show), don't think I can afford the travel + hotel, though.

I'm reserving the option to buy tickets to that. More than likely for Saturday for Computerworld. I have a TEE quote as my high school yearbook quote (from the 90s; before they were cool), but it's on a Thursday.

Just bought a ticket to see Avicii, Cazzette, and Nicky Romero in under two weeks. Never been to an electro/house show before (and haven't even heard of the second two). I'm not even really in to the whole scene, but it should be pretty awesome. I can't find many pictures of the venue, but it's a giant glass pyramid at some hotel or something.

I think I am taking my wife to see Green River Ordinance at Local 506 in April. We moved to Carrboro in August and have yet to go to a show in town (did see the Avett's in Greensboro though).
