he will qualify and this will not matter in a few months or so

hell, if nothing else...maybe we could get him enrolled in few online courses like UNC did recently

for a football recruit

for the last time you ignorant fucks, the rumor that he's academically inelligible came from an asshole on the Georgia sports forums who has been talking shit about our program and coaching staff from day one.

Basically, everyone is inelligble until they graduate. I think Lorenzo just said that he would qualify if his grades stayed the same between now and the end of the semester but he's taking the SAT again just to make sure. Nobody close to the situation is saying he won't qualify. Also, the school he attends doesn't bullshit with academics, so if he qualifys it will be legitimate.

"

does this mean he will NOT be playing for Clifton and D-one? best news ever if true.

Very true. Centennial is one of the best schools in the state of Georgia and the students routinely have the highest average SAT score of all the schools in Metro Atlanta.

I mean technically you can have a 4.0 and 1600 SAT score but still not qualify if you fail a core course and don't have one to make up for it.

Also, I don't understand why so many people are shitting on CJ for de-committing. The biggest reason was he wanted to explore his options, which, if I were in the same position, I would have wanted to do the same thing. At least he didn't say he was still committed but he's still taking visits. He's one of the best players in the country and he can have some ridiculous amounts of fun for free over the next few months if he decides to take some official visits. Now, I wish he had done it sooner, or not committed in the first place, but you really can't blame the kid. We still have his mom and several people he's close to in our corner, and he didn't say he doesn't want to come to State. I'm more upset by the fact that the Clifton's may have something to do with it.

We'll see how it plays out. I just hope that he makes his decision for or against State by november so we don't drag this bullshit out again like with Wall.

FWIW the reason GT never got seriously involved with Lo Brown was academically related (at least that's what i heard a while back when I talked with some GT insiders)

It's not that he wouldn't qualify there now, it's just that apparently they have strict policies academically of who Hewitt could and could not recruit.

the rumor that he's academically ineligible comes from him not currently being qualified enough to take an official visit during the season like most committed players do.

If I thought it was becuase he wanted to see more campuses and take some official visits I wouldn't worry.

I think it more has to do with the fact that we suck baws and he doesn't want to play for a team that he knows is going to suck baws.

This also screams of Dwon Clifton's work.

I highly highly doubt CJ ends up at State, but then again, all of these years have made me a pessimist

He's John Wall's and CJ Leslie's AAU coach.

As I understand it he's from Raleigh (or the area?) and was a mediocre basketball prospect out of high school when Herb was here. He absolutely hates all of the big 4 schools for not recruiting him.... particularly NC State and Larry Harris. Harris apparently told him he wasn't ACC material out of high school and to this day he hates Herb and Harris.

Clifton signed with Clemson, never played, sucked, and transferred to UNC-G after a couple of years. Now he's an AAU coach.

Dwon's brother Brian Clifton is also a coach on thier AAU team I believe and does a lot of 'exposure' and marketing for these kids. I believe he's actually a former licensed sports agent. Apparently he hates us too

Word is that they've been doing everything they can to steer Wall, and possibly now Leslie, away from NC State as well as other Big 4 schools

Edit: Dwon Clifton is also 'Wall's coach' that just got hired at Baylor if you've heard about that. Baylor hired him to lure Wall there...we'll see if it works. It's OK to hire proven coaches to lure a recruit, many coaches, including Herb while he was here, did that. Dwon Clifton is not a proven coach.

^^ Yes, you're right. I just edited that in there.

He was just hired by Baylor a few months ago to entice Wall to go there. I only mentioned the AAU thing becuase that's obviously his connection to Wall and Leslie

Dwon is Baylor's Director of Player Development. If you ever read the interview with their AD he tries to justify the hire by bringing up his playing career overseas.

CJ played with World Wide Renegades last year, and is rumored to either be playing with a Dwon-less D-One or a team out of the Charlotte area this year.

Every recruit has decommitted and the remaining scholarship players have all transferred

All future games will be played by pulling random people out of the stands (not DT or Burleson or Corchiani though)

He just said not 4 days ago that he didn't take an official because he didn't need to, and that he's taken the SAT, which is the only requirement other than being a senior to take an official visit.

Maybe he's bullshitting, but thats straight from his mouth.

I'd love to get Spurlock, but I wonder if the UVA athletic department would grant him a release to us.

Scout/Rivals

14/17 ranked SF
68/82 overall

Known offers:
Virginia
Clemson
FSU
Georgetown
Louisville
Maryland
Southern California
Villanova
Wake Forest

Spurlock also had interest from State, UNC, Texas, Syracuse, Florida, and Connecticut.

Can Lowe contact Spurlock? I thought it was illegal to continue to recruit a player that has already signed a LOI? You can probably get around that though with intermediaries.

I'd guess so. that sort of stuff flies when you're talking about a player that's been in the program transferring, but I think most of the time recruits get no-strings release, aside from requesting that the school gets a chance to let the new coach talk to them before they commit anywhere else.

After the Chris Wright debacle, I have little faith in players loyalty to schools over coaches. If we landed him, that would be the kind of lucky shit we so desperately need to happen if things are to improve...

Landing a guy like spurlock would only help our class rankings to make us look pretty.

We really don't have a need for that type of player at this point with CJ and Johnny Thomas locking down the 3 position next year (assuming Johnny is healthy).

I mean dont get me wrong, I'd love to have a guy like that, but I think theres a reason we didn't offer him and it has nothing to do with his game.

The key about CJ coming here at the end of his tour will be,will Lowe be here?
You know it's not set in stone at all about Wall not coming here for sure. The
bottom line is all we due is speculate with our key strokes until its official.
If anything has to be done by the end of next season and we do not get in the
big dance again or in that fact the NIT either, will uncle JED still be here? and if
so ...... oh yeah,I guess he will look for another coach.

We better worry or better yet,we better fix this Lee Fowler thing first. There
are ways on getting things done. I got some food for thought. How aboout
we all put our collective thoughts together instead of wandering what and
who we get to play for us and let the coaches do that (their job) and figure
out a way we can at lease help the cause on the other side of the spectrum.
This would be proactive. Im sure there are some very smart Pack fans out
there that can come up with something. Forget not going to the games, who
are you fooling? I know it isn't you or me because we cannot stay away from
going to see the pack play. I know you say it now but when season comes
Hey I may be wrong and that is the only way,but like I said somebody has got to
have a plan

yes, that would be the year we were on probation for DT and would have won the first NC. It
was all because DT and Eddie B played a pick up game and someone I would have to guess
in CH found out and reported to NCAA. That team was better than the 74 team.
