"belgian-style" lol. it's as bad as breweries misusing "farmhouse"... not saying they're misusing it, i just find it funny they have to put it on every label... i'm wondering though if that Blond is Belgian Pale or American Blond.

A Foothills Bourbon Barrel-Aged Total Eclipse stout with a shot of Slingshot coffee was a great way to kick off the weekend. 4/5/2013 6:41:25 PM |

I think they started using Larry's Beans though.

yea, it was amazing, they were all so good. Citra probably the best DIPA I've ever had. Hunahpu I have to say exceeded expectations.
mirror mirror was excellent as well and so pleasantly surprised to open it not infected.

with that selection, that's saying a lot
i've only got one '12 that i've been itching to open and don't know if it'll make it to the "best after" date 4/8/2013 11:02:08 AM |
Prospero All American 11662 Posts user info edit post |
funny thing is I still had Pliny, EnjoyBy, MoAS, Cantillon Classic in the fridge we didn't even make it to. we started at 3pm and went til midnight before we were all about to just fall asleep.
good amount of cherry in Dissident right now, it was really nice, probably not as sour as intended, hence best after date, but it's still pretty darn good. i have another bottle of '12 i'm sitting on.
there's also a Funkwerks Dark Prophet, Cigar City Humidor IPA, and Ommegang Three Philosophers in the background that didn't make the front row, although all good

I had a really good Sammy Smith Organic Chocolate Stout the other night for desert. Winter Welcome was one of my first "non-domestic largre brewery" type beers and I was a big fan of Sammy Smiths for a while. The Chocolate Stout was a nice diversion from the high alcohol Imperial Stouts that I normally drink. Would recommend. 4/8/2013 11:14:44 AM |

This isn't to say that I don't like Ephemere, because it is not bad, but it is probably my least favorite beer Unibroue puts out (just based on my personal preferences).
^I've actually been meaning to try that

yeah they sell them at the Trader Joe's near us now. Very cheap but also very good for the price. I haven't seen the chocolate there though so I'll have to go somewhere else for that probably. 4/8/2013 11:40:37 AM |

Sam Smith RIS is a perfect to style RIS if you ever want to introduce someone to that end of the spectrum. I pick a couple up each time I see them.
Organic Chocolate Stout is too sweet for me. It's up there with the Southern Tier dessert beers.
i've fallen out of the craft scene lately . just been so busy with spring sports, day hikes, etc. to meet up at the bottle shop these last couple weeks. 4/8/2013 11:45:39 AM |

^ Yeah...I used the Chocolate Stout as a replacement for my desert instead of ice cream. Hit the spot for my sweet tooth.

Secret Stache Stout http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/25370/78798
Saw it at the local grocery store across the street from my place(I go there for the hot bar for dinner 2-3 nights a week) for $2.19 in a pint can and tried it. Not bad at all for a $2 pint... 4/8/2013 8:34:22 PM |

I tried that Biscotti Break a few weeks ago, and it was good but not as good as I expected. The flavors were definitely there and I liked the concept, but it didn't stand out for me like some other imperial coffee stouts do. I'll probably pick up another bottle and try it again at some point, but I felt like it was a little bit out of balance. 4/8/2013 9:05:31 PM |

i have to say Dark Lord was a highly anticipated and hyped up beer for me that was by far the biggest disappointment. so don't fret too much about it.
now some BA Dark Lord, i'd love to try, had a couple opportunities with BA's that were in Denver during GABF, most people hoard them tho. 4/24/2013 10:56:36 AM |
