yeah a team of freshmen is struggling the year after winning a championship. cal is just not that amazing.
We are due for a miracle recruit. The type of guy that is a golden god right out of high school and ends up being a lot better than any recruiting analyst ever could have imagined. Other schools get these guys all of the time but we have not had one Since Hodge. A guy like that could be like a Rivers to chuck amato or a wilson to TOB. Every other school seems to have had one.
Imagine what a 3-4 year star like vasquez, douglas, hansbrough, scheyer, dudley type player could do for this program?

kentucky has been ranked higher than us all season so I'm not sure what you're talking about.
Sure they suck this year now that Noel is out, but up until that point they were a significantly better team than we were.
And next year they are the favorites to win the title and we are highly unlikely to make the tournament. So your point is beyond moot. 2/23/2013 10:57:16 PM |

I am pissed about the meltdown today, but if I take a step back, in Gott's first year we were a bubble team and made the tourney. This year most people think we are comfortable in the NCAA with a few weeks left. It is not #6 in the country, but at least he is not going backwards this year. 2/23/2013 10:58:32 PM |

Eh. This time last year we were not even expected to make the tourney. With 4 games left, we were 18-9 (7-5). Not a huge difference record wise, but it was understood that we basically had to win out and have a few wins in the ACC tourney to make it.
We are better than last year, but not by very much.
Overall, this has been a VERY disappointing season. It's not over yet, but we are probably going to finish 5th in the ACC like we did last year...

Florida and Indiana are great teams.
They might not be 1990 UNLV or 2009 UNC but they are pretty freaking awesome
And I'd rather watch a season like this one when there are a ton of top teams who can win it all than 2009 where it UCONN and UNC were the only teams with a shot.

torn acl? for a big man? not that concerning. maybe if he were a PG or something.
I wouldn't take him #1 but if he's around at #4 it's not a bad gamble. i still think shabazz can be a productive nba player too, but he's definitely not a lock like everyone thought three months ago.

The number of players that don't come back strong from ACL injuries is pretty slim these days they have that surgery and rehab figured out for athletes.

Look, this is way too early. Gottfried is only in his second season at N.C. State, but the trouble for him is that we already know what it looks like when he has great talent. The Wolfpack was No. 6 in the preseason and is now unraked and just 9-6 in ACC play. There’s no way Gottfried gets fired this year, but the pressure is beginning to build.

I can't see Gottfried being on any hot seat or under any pressure. The growth, excitement and energy he has brought to NCSU and PNC arena is huge. We now go to games expecting a win and exciting play. And heart broken when we lose.
That media summary is just ridiculous...
