No confirmation yet, but there are a lot of rumors saying Andy McCollum is heading to GT. Hope its not the case. One of our better recruiters.

wouldn't mind opening up another Alabama or FL pipeline, or hell, why not TX or Calif. as far as pipelines go.

I'm not devastated by this. He's helped assemble one the least talented State teams in the last 15 years.

well hate to lose a guy who is thought so well of. but can't we suspend judgment of the situation until his replacement is named?

If McCollum leaves, rack it up as another failure by our athletic dept to keep coaching/recruiting talent.

Wasn't about money, apparently has an elderly parent in GA and this makes it a lot easier to be near them.

I dunno, I am just still bitter about loosing Herring back in the day. And I also don't like Fowler. Just trying to find excuses. Meh......

I don't think herring was as much of a messiah as his one season appeared to be. Granted, he's INFINITELY better than Mike fucking Archer...

Losing Norm Chow was much more painful, but hell.. we hit the lottery to even get him for a single year.

I think that's just because he's a young, position coach that played here and is now coaching.

I could see him or Dantonio Burnette getting it. Thunder Dan especially if he still has ties back to GA.

Man I miss that shiz. Don't see stuff like that coming from us at the Carter. Maybe pre-injury nasty Nate.

Bullshit. Mike Reed and Jim Bridge are in Georgia recruiting all the time. Our 'pipeline' is in no way gone with Coach Mac leaving the staff.

So im curious to know, how much of a 'behind the doors beat down did O'brien put on Archer after our season just ended...would O'brien try taking over more defensive coordinator control for the 2010 football season?

2) How different of a look do you guys think we will see out of the Pirates with their new coach "Ruffin" in town,...Ive heard/read a lot of good things from Texas about him and how well he develops his players/talent, etc?? I just have a feeling that the Pirates are going to surprise alot of folks this season, and I sure as hell dont want us to be one of them!

White would be a GREAT hire.

I could see him eventually taking over as well if TOB was to teach him in the ways of the Oline, seems sensible.

And all the Pirates fans dont really like the hire, they think its gonna take at least 2 years for them to get back to the level they were at.

It was a safe hire they say.

The 5 folks in my family who graduated from ECU, all seem to be psyched about Ruffin's credentials and yeah they think it's going to take him atleast 3 recruiting classes before folks around eastern north carolina really see his stamp on the program. But they are all pumped up about him opening a Pipeline from Texas to Greenville..and yeah that's only going to help the Pirates program.

Now, back to the Pack....other then Owens, and the newcomer Creecy..who will be our other 3 go to big play WR's....??

I know Russell tends to use the TE alot if they are open but who else will help Creecy and Owens as far as big play threats are concerned??

You expect three more big play WRs? Last year we pretty much just had Owen Spencer and Jarvis Williams catchings balls at WR while Smith, Howard and Bowens were busy dropping balls.

I think Davis should have a good year but I think TJ Graham is pretty overrated. He drops some catchable balls and he really only has great straight-line speed.

That was pretty funny, can't tell if you are being serious or not... if you are being serious, what are we the Rams from 10 years ago?

I'll be happy with 1 "go to big play WR" and a few other guys that can not drop the ball, lets start with that.

I think we have that. We have Jarvis and Bryan who consistently make catches. Davis who wants to be that guy. Then we have Spencer and TJ who can be big play guys for us.

WR is one of areas of strength IMO. Obviously we need guys with better hands, but I am much more concerned with our RBs, offensive line, defensive line, LB core, special teams, and secondary than I am the WR/TEs.

Rank of concern (1 = least, 8 = highest).

1. QB
2. WR/TEs
3. LB (assuming Nate is 100%)
4. RB (I think we'll be okay here asssuming the guys learn pass protection)
5. OL
6. ST
7. DL
8. Secondary

I think Crisp shores up the OL right away as well as the other young guys stepping up. Special teams is still a joke unless the new punter is good and we can get someone to manage some decent kickoffs. DL is a huge question in my book, who will step up and replace Willie and Cash? Secondary for obvious reasons.

I wouldn't bet the farm on Nate. He hasn't played football in a year, and had some MAJOR injuries. He's not gonna come back the same guy probably. I hope he does, but don't count on it.

Yeah, if we can fix our problems with the secondary, not giving up 5 sacks a game, and find someone to rattle the opposing QB on everydown, AND a punter/kicker who can kick it a solid 45 yards every time..then the sky is the limit...but that is a hell of alot of things to fix b4 one season......but im optimistic.....
