Here comes the onslaught of people demanding a "job".....

Oh, and of people suggesting we use this, use that, do this, do that.. which is immensely frustrating considering we have already planned on specific things for each suggestion. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact the people making these suggestions have talked to me about it before (aka family) and now I'm realizing they REALLY didn't listen basically all year.

ANYWAY

I have almost all the save the dates addressed yay

just when we picked a place and figured out a date, my dad goes "let's see about this date." and so I ask my fiancee what he thinks and now he's like "yeah let's look at other dates."

any recommendations for honeymoon registries? i'm sure it's been covered in here, but search sucks for drilling down to details.

^^^ we considered a Friday only because 85% of our guest list were going to be coming in from out of state/town/country so regardless, they would have had to at least take that day off from work.

But you wouldn't have started your reception at 4pm, meaning your ceremony was likely at 3pm or earlier would you? That just seems oddly early to me for a Friday wedding.

Yeah the few Friday weddings I've been to usually have the ceremony start between 5-7pm. And I'm sure the location of their guests had nothing to do with it considering the date

Tonight is the rehearsal dinner. Starts at 5pm. Apparently the father of the groom found out last week that a majority of his family isn't flying in til like 10pm tonight

I have gotten a ton of messages saying how much they loved them... so I'm feeling pretty about it. Starting to feel like an actual bride-to-be.

I am officially engaged now. So I guess I can make a few posts in this thread. And I think we are setting the date for next October. Do I need to start planning NOW?

Some planning--yes, now. Date, venue, officiant. Those three you should do as soon as you can. Then you can take some time off from planning if you really want to. But why would you want to? If you start now, you can space it out and not miss out on the vendor you really wanted because you waited too long. And 11 months is really not a long time for planning. There are already venues that will be sold out for then, or bakers, or bands, etc.

It's not like you have to go out and buy your favors this weekend, but you should begin working on the big things.

Oh, and btw, congratulations!

We got the date, venue, and caterer done by the one year mark. We are trying to get a photographer fairly soon, we want one that will do our engagement photos and the wedding. Save the Dates will go out in January and then I'm taking a break.

We booked venue 7 months in advance (we got engaged last month). We didn't have much of a problem for a June wedding.

We also have our photographer and I'm meeting with my invitation designer this week. Fingers crossed we have the same luck for florist and DJ. Those are next on my list.

Congrats and good luck welcome to the club

We were engaged first week of August and married in June. By mid September we had date, venue for ceremony & reception, photographer, caterer & band.

Venue was easy though...i knew where long before he asked the venue's availability determined our date (I know some pick a date then find a venue available)...then we jumped on the other three.

I would say also knock out the caterer and photographer now too as those seem to book up quickly if they're talented and/or a good deal. If you're not as picky about the food and photos though they can wait.

Once you have those big five out of the way take your time and enjoy the planning

too bad it's $Texas

*sigh* it's becoming very evident my sister and mother won't be taking my feelings about a shower (and even the guest list for the bachelorette party) into consideration. -.-

I don't understand how that conversation would go...

Sam - "I want XX, XX, XX and XX to go on my bachelorette party."
Sam's Sister - "Nope."
Sam - "....."

Where does it go from there?

Sam: Stop being a raging dick.

lol but seriously, I think the only thing I did for my bridal shower was give the maid of honor a list of people to invite and everything went well. I'm not sure she would have taken any of my suggestions if I had given them so I didn't bother.

Wadhead, it literally went that way.

Everything came to a head. She sent me a hateful email saying there would only be ONE guest list for both events (meaning bachellorette party and bridal shower because they would be on the same day). She tried claiming it is beyond rude to invite some people to one and not the other She was acting like I don't have a choice.

But I do have a choice, and this isn't her time. My friend offered to do the bachelorette party (because of all this) and I accepted.

This whole thing has crushed me... especially because my mother agreed with everything my sister said. I I don't even know what to do anymore.

I think it's more like she's realizing I have done a lot and im not snapping my fingers at her... and she keeps saying she wants to feel like she's involved, but she's already involvedw! what more can I do?!

[Edited on November 20, 2011 at 12:04 AM. Reason : ps my only beef was my sister and mothers attitude towards the guest list]
