I too, work at a DC and have seen several teams get cut or eliminated due to better automation. These are people with math, csc, ee degrees. We used to have a reporting team - they were cut completely.

I'd love that for apartments. The broker fee shit is one of the most infuriating things I encountered when moving up here.

I work at a software company that provides services to management companies and brokerages. But I have worked as a real estate agent in the past. Showing apartments is about 10% of the job and automating it would not remove the broker fee.

Also this is just for rentals. Sales is a different animal and automation is not happening.

Healthcare reform is dead for awhile. The opposing Republican factions that killed ACHA didn't just appear and they're not going away before 2018. The GOP's eight-year policy of 'all-obstruction-all-the-time' was more default (in)action than considered strategy.

Ryan has an impossible task managing the House. Debt-ceiling and budget votes are coming up and Trump will be worse than useless in getting those done.

A bill that could affect a 1/5 of the economy and

-no CBO score
-virtually no floor debate or public hearings
-no final text of the bill has been released
-went through multiply iterations on pre-existing conditions clauses and exempting congress from the law, many of us still have no idea what exactly the status on these two points are.

Yet somehow it's more important to check this legislative accomplish off their list than govern in a meaningful way.

Even if I'm a filthy rich person that stands to benefit from the tax cuts this bill allegedly sets up, I'm still asking myself, is cratering the healthcare industry and those ripple effects throughout the economy really gonna be worth it?

The states most affected are mostly Trump states. Though I'm guessing he is Teflon on this like everything else and everyone in those states will blame Paul Ryan (who will continue to easily won re-election every cycle in his district).

It will cost the GOP house seats but I have no confidence it will be en masse due to the general incompetence of Dems ability to message.

I really would like to see some specifics. Because it SEEMS from an earlier WSJ article that employer sponsored plans could choose to opt out of pre-existing conditions and catastrophic coverage if any one state did (which is a near certainty). One of the things mentioned, but admittedly not explicitly in the article, was the NICU... which is a very personal thing to me.

I heard it explained like this, admittedly by a dem so if anyone has evidence to either back this up or refute please do so:

- The bar for a state obtaining a waiver to deny pre-existing condition coverage is not high
- One of the big "positives" of this bill is that it allows insurance companies to sell across state lines
- Nothing stopping any/all the insurance companies from moving their "headquarters" to the first state that gets a waiver and then selling insurance only from that state, with the ability to deny coverage to those with pre-existing conditions, regardless of where they live
