There are some lactose-free cheeses. Most aged or hard cheeses are lactose-free, as the lactose is drained and then consumed during the fermentation process.

Unpasteurized milk can contain microorganisms, which can cause illnesses in humans, reports the FDA.
Non-Dairy Lactose-Free Cheeses Search grocery stores for soy cheese, tofu cheese and other lactose-free soy products. Shop at online suppliers or organic food stores for rice and almond cheeses. These dairy substitute cheeses are completely lactose-free and are widely available in varieties that mimic Monterrey Jack, mozzarella, Cheddar and other flavors. Check an online or local bookstore to learn how to best cook non-dairy cheeses. Almond, rice and soy cheeses have different textures than dairy cheeses and thus do not cook or melt the same way, notes the National Institutes of Health.

I read somewhere recently certain cheeses don't have lactose in them. Sam I would do a google search to see if you can find any info.
Gluten free and lactose free products have come a long way. Plus there's tons of cool blogs and websites online devoted to amazing recipes that are free of those products.

Also, Sam, since you're the cupcake goddess, Betty Crocker has a great GF cake mix. Just add Jello pudding mix to it for additional taste/moisture ... amazing! Here's a recipe I tried recently:

So I took a 55 minute tabata class and only got through 45 minutes of it. I COULD NOT do the last 10 minutes. It ended with a nice small puke in the gym toilet. I think if I weren't pregnant, I would be able to do the last 10 minutes. I am going to try to get through the whole thing next time.

The thing that makes me a little about the Betty Crocker mixes is... I make my stuff from scratch. :\ I know it will be a challenge, but I'm willing to try. I will still make some things regular for other people (i.e., I plan on selling pumpkin bread in clinic come October) but I'll try testing my GF recipes on them. I know one of the new girls in our program has Celiac so I'm sure she would appreciate it
I had a big bowl of Reese's puffs this evening since it'll most likely be the last time I am able to eat them Tomorrow is officially GF/LF day 1. I have green apples + blueberries + honey for breakfast (and some hot tea or coffee with soy or almond milk I guess), and I'll probably get a salad at lunch.. :\

Going back to the breakfast thing, it's amazing how starving I am at 9pm when I don't eat a big breakfast in the morning, even though they are 12 hrs apart.
Also, you morning work out people, what do you eat right before workout? I want something small but also something that will keep me full an hr and get my blood sugar going. I usually do a banana but I can only handle them green and it seems they stay green for one day before going I tried peanut butter crackers today but damn if that wasn't the hardest thing to eat ever hahaha I had to have milk!

Just trying to get an idea of your definition of it.
My definition of strength training is lifting weights that are challenging in the 1-6rep range. IMO, body building would be working in 8-12+rep range.
Plus, IMO, strength training is more about working movements than individual muscle groups. It's about getting certain movement patterns stronger rather than toning up a certain body region.
It is arguing semantics, but it matters because the results are different.

I would just think that waist exercises may not be considered strength training because if you are working your whole body each workout then you are stabilizing your workouts with your core anyway and don't have to do special exercises for your abs. I don't really know. That is kind of how I like to lift weights. Use multiple muscle groups that have a core stability?

Sam! If you like PF Chang's, they have an AWESOME GF menu!!!
Also, as a general rule of thumb, it's best to avoid Italian restaurants and sandwich joints.
Stick with larger, meat-based entrees or lighter salads. The cheese and croutons are the last thing they add, so it's easy to avoid those toppings.
Also, if you get nervous about salad dressings, it's okay to bring your own.

Have you tried different brands of soy milk? Silk tastes like swill to me, but I love any flavor of Trader Joe's soy milk. On the almond milk front, Silk's dark chocolate almond milk is freaking AMAZING. This is coming from someone who doesn't even like chocolate milk. It makes protein shakes taste like heaven.

Apparently I fixed my metabolism or something back when I dropped 35 lbs. I've been pulling overtime at work since July, leaving me exhausted and pretty much without time to exercise ever.
