bringing a guy who can only score on fastbreaks isn't going to help you when you cannot score and have not run any offense in the halfcourt

what could help you run offense? maybe a true pg? maybe a guy that had 16 and 5 against this same team?

we lost the first game without brown the same way. purvis started AT PG and it took a while before lewis got into the game. should've learned the lesson then.

To make matters worse, Gott said at halftime that we have to change the scott wood matchup. Too late.

Lewis had a 5 on 4 fast break with Larkin laying on the ground, and he threw it away to a Miami player who went down for an easy layup

meanwhile Purvis has a steal and forced another turnover, he's actually out there playing with energy

and nobody knew their "star" player (3rd on the team in points per game) was gonna have a hot shooting night

Thats why stats don't replace watching games. Stats tell you Scott is 3rd but reality tells you he's the guy if they need a bucket.

depth didn't have anything to do with losing this game.

maybe losing to fsu had to do with this game. but depth didn't matter then either.

we have more depth than miami. gameplan is what kills us against the good teams.

we have the wrong defensive matchups
don't run any offense
and have players playing out of position

Uh lewis played like shit in this game other then that 3 he hit. Brown sucked too. Purvis was probably our best guard in this game. Gottfried did everything he could. The team came out flat and made one unforced error after another.

Sure it did.

Having another quality player or two to plug in when someone is cold/tired/hurting is a pretty fundamental part of basketball.

Miami has a great bench that lets them do a lot of stuff that we aren't able to do.

they play 8 guys but truthfully go 6 deep with the 7 footer stealing some minutes

we play 7 guys and truthfully go 7 deep with vandenburg (who is just as good as jekiri) not getting minutes.

Miami has 8 guys that play 15+ minutes per game

State has 6

the guy on State who averages the 8th most minutes is Thomas de Thaey, so once again, you're wrong

We had no replacement for an injured Howell....that's lack of depth.

right we have no depth at the 5 which is why howell had to play so much despite being hobbled and exhausted

Nothing crazy about that. Jekiri averages 7 minutes and 1ppg 1rpg.

Vandenburg averages 5 minutes and .7 ppg .7rpg.

You just including an 8th guy who left the team in November so once again, glancing at the statbook does not give you basketball knowledge of someone who actually watches games and knows what they are talking about.

Lewis and Purvis are our 6 and 7 so again we have guys that our coach simply choose to not play.

exactly what someone who hasn't watched many miami games would say

yea they chose not to play me too

i'd rather have a tired/hurt howell over vandy all day

now if you argue that gott should have gotten howell more rest in the last two games when we were comfortably ahead, i would agree.

If Leslie and brown stuck around for next season we could actually have some depth but its questionable one or either would.

[Edited on March 16, 2013 at 3:45 PM. Reason : Painter would have made a huge impact on this team]

have more depth vs playing more guys is the debate here.

miami only has 6 guys the quality of our 7. miamis 7 is better than our 8 but our 8 is just as good as their 8.

We have a coach who is ride or die with certain players and will DNP mcdonalds all american while they have a coach that will play vandenburg level players for strategic purposes.

This guy went to the final four with less depth than we have now.

would depth have helped? sure.

but you're blaming this loss on OUR DEPTH!? after that first half performance? really?

you mean we don't have someone to replace a first-team all ACC performer?! no wai! we must be the only team!

as far as being fresh... again, we shouldn't have lost to FSU, and we wouldn't be in this position.

Basketball smarts, defense, and lack of upper classmen leadership is more to blame for the FSU loss and this one.

Disappointed in him letting the game get out of hand the last 10 minutes without burning a timeout when we had 3.

Pleased with another good year with a trip to the dance. If we avoid the 8-9 game we're headed to the Elite 8.

Kadji is the one that's about 25 with Johnson, Scott, Gamble, and McKinney Jones as the other 22+ seniors. Laranaga is doing a great job down there - this absolutely isn't happening with Haith still in Coral Gables, but outside of Larkin they lose absolutely everyone that plays for them next season.

We're gonna be real young next season, but the difference between that and when it's happened before is the talent level. RP, TL, TJW all have gotten significant minutes this year to gain experience and were MCAA's, Barber is as well, and then we've got a few 4 star recruits in the post to go along with Ralston Turner/TBDV. Team will have to grow up quick and we'll be dominated by other front courts, but our back court should be pretty dynamic.

I can't wait for Gott to win a NC and get cancer and get fired and die and be nationally beloved and then see some of you people's old comments about our coach. Assholes.

^yep, Miami will be fsu next year. Keep Larkin (snaer) win the acc with a bunch of old guys, be not too great next year
