I know right? I'm just glad the woman who WAS running for Vice President took a moment to address the comment as being completely unacceptable. Since she is oft known to address hecklers (real or perceived) when they interrupt her canned speeches.
Wait, what's that? She didn't?
Oh... well, never mind then. Carry on.

Just came up in my Google Reader.
How many freaking skinheads is this to plot out killing 100 people?
Quote : | "AP reports:
The [Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms says it has broken up a plot to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and shoot or decapitate 102 black people in a Tennessee murder spree.
In court records unsealed Monday, agents said they disrupted plans to rob a gun store and target an unnamed but predominantly African-American high school by two neo-Nazi skinheads.
An Obama spokesman declined to comment on the report." |

^^ and your point is.......
just think about this - you're losing so badly that when your Republican is only behind by 1 point in North Carolina that counts as a positive?
I don't think anyone on TWW, or any democrats in NC or the country have ever considered NC a "must win", and a win here would simply be icing on the cake. nothing more.

Sarah Palin effigy hung in Halloween display
Quote : | "LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - An effigy of U.S. Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin hanging by a noose as part of a Halloween display drew complaints on Monday, but local officials said the homeowner was covered by free speech rights.
A mannequin dressed to resemble the Alaska governor, with her trademark beehive hairdo and glasses, was hung by the neck from the eaves of the home in famously liberal West Hollywood.
On the roof, a mannequin of Republican presidential candidate John McCain, protruded from the chimney surrounded in flames, holding his head as he was apparently burned alive." |

Very eloquent. I'm sure Obama would agree. I would also agree that she asked him some tough, challenging questions.
My question is: Is this showing us how he will respond to anyone who asks him tough and/or "loaded" question--to ban them from access? Is he going to only allow friendly reporters to throw him softballs for his term? He has a pretty thin skin. I fear he would use the power of the gov't to squelch any vocal opposition.
Quote : | "...the idea that Obama's tax policies and ideas of 'wealth redistribution' are really not that radical, they just taper similar to Clinton's tax plans in the 90s where the wealthy get hit harder and the middle class get a tax cut." |
Who got a tax cut under the Clinton tax plan that passed in '93?
Obama's wealth redistribution goal is not just harmless tampering around the edges. He wants more-- he wants a revolution in the way taxes are used.
He talks about "economic justice." He bemoans the fact that the Warren court couldn't get around the Constitution and carry out wealth redistribution.
Obama wants "Redistributive Change" That's the Change you're voting for. He doesn't want to spread the wealth to build roads. He wants to spread the wealth for economic justice. Is that what our Constitution and country is all about?
He will appoint radical judges & justices who will help him carry out this redistributive economic justice. A bullet-proof congress will help him on the legislative side. You can call it economic justice or socialism, or marxism. Whatever it is...it stinks.

Who are you agreeing with? Yourself? Those weren't tough, challenging questions. That is giving the reporter entirely too much credit. Those were presuppositions in the form of questions designed to make Obama/Biden look bad. Did you know that reporter is married to a republican strategist? He probably fed her that stuff.
Is there anyone on the right here who has any fucking sense left?

You got it! The Founders gave the Press their own special right in the Bill of Rights. The Press is supposed to ask pointed, biased, tough questions of everyone. They should approach everyone with aggressive, informed cynicism.
When asked tough questions, leaders should answer them. Not laugh them off and then send their hit squads out to attack and try to destroy the questioner.
Charlie Gibson should ask Obama tougher questions than "Are you taking Joy" from your campaign.10/27/2008 10:56:00 PM |

Michael Pollan, who recently wrote an "open letter" to the next president concerning food policy in this country - http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/12/magazine/12policy-t.html - has brought up an interesting point w/r/t the whole elitist attitude at/towards Whole Foods, organic farming, and actually in general towards healthy eating. He notes that it's funny that it's considered snobby and elitist when people make an effort to "buy local" or shop at farmer's markets or from stores that buy from local farmers, which often end up being more expensive. The extra cost, though, is often going back to the local farmers who work on small farms and don't have the benefits of economies of scale, cheap labor, and government subsidies.
Then at the same time, it's considered populist to eat daily at McDonalds and buy as much processed food as possible from Winn Dixie, companies that get their food from gigantic industrial farms and feed lots, who steamroll over and buy independent farmers by the hundred, take as many gov't subsidies as they can get their hands on and still lobby for more, and hire illegal immigrants by the thousand to tend to their fields.10/28/2008 8:24:56 AM |
