And it's funny you are complaining about speed, when iOS does pretty much everything WAAY faster than Android. I bet you spend more time navigating your phone than performing sync operations.

Actually, every album I have on my DX has album art. Adding songs to a playlist from the phone is also incredibly easy. I've never used a genius playlist or even care to.
And it certainly doesn't take 4 hours to add 2 songs like my iPhone did on Friday. The only thing I use my iPhone for now is music in my car (because of a 30-pin installed before I bought it) and it can barely handle that.10/5/2010 12:14:02 AM |

That's great.
None of that impugns iTunes as a bad music manager in any way. iTunes does all of this, and makes it very easy to do, easier than trying to hand-create it on a phone UI.
And if your iTunes is taking 4hours to add 2 songs, then something else is wrong with your computer.
And most of the songs i have on my Droid have album art too btw, but that's largely because iTunes put it there for me

Browser, calendar, and email can all be gotten to from my home screen. A game is easily found within the app tray, since I don't play them often enough for me to want one on my home screen. Camera is a dedicated button I can use to get to it from any screen/app. There's nothing I can't get to within a couple seconds. I never spend much time "navigating"10/5/2010 2:15:02 AM |

HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
iTunes can't get proper album art to save it's life, not to mention how it grabs different album art for multiple songs on the same album.
Oh, and don't get me started how one artist shows up twice in the artists list on the phone and then their album proceeds to show up twice underneath one of those headings, despite them being named exactly the same. The fact that the software isn't smart enough to figure out that "30 Seconds To Mars" and "30 Seconds to Mars" are the same band is also beyond idiotic.10/5/2010 9:01:43 AM |

I'll admit, I've been partaking in small doses of the Apple Kool-aid in the past couple of years, but I can't imagine how many gallons you'd have to drink to start defending any part of iTunes to anyone, much less Android fans.
Not being shackled by iTunes is the one DEFINITIVE advantage Android users have over iDevice people. 10/5/2010 10:13:51 AM |

supposedly the new update (not froyo yet though ) is supposed to start rolling out for the epic again. It came out last week, but they immediately stopped the release due to a glitch. Now it is being circulated again, and it fixes alot of silly problems the epic has had (and supposedly fixes alot of the GPS problems!!)
Still waiting on froyo though :-/ 10/5/2010 11:24:09 AM |

I wouldn't expect Froyo until mid to late November. The European version is supposed to get the update in late October so it'll probably get to the US after that. Not to mention Samsung is notoriously slow in rolling out their updates but I'm sure it'll leak out for the others like it did for the Captivate. 10/5/2010 11:59:22 AM |

I don't think you'll see that. Things are trending toward touchscreen only, and most of the ones with keyboards, even the lowest end options, tend to be landscape.

Icognito and Invertnito are pretty good. They are probably the best themes out but for some reason I can never get used to them and always revert back after a few hours.
In the ROM Manager under Onix Concepts there are several versions of their theme with a couple color variations. I've had a few issues with the latest version and had to revert back to the one before it. The new version is a more complete theme but for some reason I couldn't send outgoing text messages, I could still receive them. It didn't really make any sense but as soon as I went back to the version before I could send them.
Always make sure to backup your current ROM before installing a theme. 10/8/2010 9:39:43 AM |

So like I mentioned a couple posts up, I rooted my Incredible last night and I was screwing around with different ROMs and whatnot. Well, today I decided to go back to my original ROM (official 2.2 with SenseUI and rooted) so I restored to the earliest backup I have. Well, whenever I install apps from the market now, they force close every time I open them (note: this doesn't happen on any of the custom ROMs I've tried, just my "factory" one). I have to uninstall and reinstall them in order to get them to work and then they work just fine (same goes for updates to apps). So... I guess I screwed something up but idk what. Having to install every app twice is pretty annoying. Any ideas as to how to fix this? I have no problem doing a factory reset and re-rooting/installing crap again as long as it will fix my problem. I noticed that there is a factory reset option both in the HBOOT menu and in the ClockworkMod menu. If I have to go the factory reset route, which of those should I use? 10/8/2010 10:41:06 PM |

^ fixed it. If anyone else runs into this, I had never opened any PDF files. I downloaded one from Dropbox and opened it. That launched QuickPDF (I think that's what it was called) and brought the register screen up. I registered, cleared GMail's cached, force stopped GMail, & then restarted it. Now it will actually open them up. There must be 300 threads online about this. It seems that every one of them has people just accepting that it doesn't work instead of people finding a solution. 10/11/2010 12:15:43 PM |
