I just don't like being ranked, we always lose when we are ranked.

To pass the time before tonights game anyone wanna discuss when its appropriate to rush the court?

Also, was herb sendek technically fired or run off or did he leave under his own accord?

^^ I'll bite.

We better not rush IF we happen to beat UNC (knock on wood). God that would be embarrassing if we rushed beating a team we probably should beat.

I would be okay with us rushing after beating Duke, especially since they are #1. There is not a single game on our schedule we should rush the court after winning except for Duke if they are still ranked #1 IMO.

Rushing the court is inversely proportional to reputation, and reputation = rankings.

Look at City rushing the field after winning the PL, small time!

http://www.wralsportsfan.com/talking-points-nc-state-in-a-solid-stretch-of-basketball/11895678/
Quote :
"Talking points: NC State in a solid stretch of basketball
By Joe Ovies

1. NC State's hot hand in the first half belonged to Scott Wood, who hit five 3-pointers that pushed the Wolfpack in front of Stanford in an otherwise tight start. Mark Gottfried took advantage of the Cardinal's insistence on keeping Aaron Bright on Wood by running set plays. Wood got open looks, which he promptly buried.

Nice to see, considering Wood had been 2-of-10 shooting in the last two wins for the Wolfpack.

Wood also provided a defensive spark for the Wolfpack thanks to a couple blocks and outright hustle plays. Stanford eventually adjusted in the second half and the senior picked up two more points at the free throw line to finish the game with 17.

2. While Wood cooled off, Lorenzo Brown overcame a rough start and took over after halftime. The Wolfpack eventually took control of the game when the point guard attacked the basket, dished out assists and scored 18 of his game-high 24 points in the second half.

"Everybody has rough starts," Brown said. "Michael Jordan even had a rough start."

Fair enough, Zo. The second half was a reminder of why so many believed he was the best point guard in the ACC and the main driving force behind NC State's success this season. Since the Pack's loss against Michigan, Brown has averaged 16.5 points and 5.75 assists per game.

3. Richard Howell continues to provide simple, honest work for NC State and has quietly become the team's most consistent player in the first two months of the season. He recorded his fifth double-double in the last six games with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

The key going forward as the Wolfpack approach conference play is for Howell to stay on the court. While he deserves credit for staying out of foul trouble in comparison to last season, it's not a coincidence that the ugliest games of the season for NC State have come when he fouled out against Oklahoma State and Michigan.

4. NC State had fits and spurts of defense against Stanford. They made Dwight Powell work for his stats, with his 23 points coming on 10-of-21 shooting. On the flip side, Bright ended the night 6-of-9 from the field after coming into the contest hitting only six of his last 32 shot attempts. NC State also struggled on the defensive glass in the first half.

5. The Wolfpack appear to be finding consistency after a rough stretch against Oklahoma State, UNC-Asheville and Michigan. In notching quality wins against UConn and Stanford, NC State has shown a progression from last season in its ability to quickly get itself out of lulls in the action.

It all comes down to how you want to look at this squad. If you believed NC State was truly a top-10 team at the start of the season, it'll be easy to nitpick aspects of its season thus far. If you were in "wait and see" mode with the Wolfpack, they should be playing to their expected level -- a top-25 group with decent wins and opportunity to pad their RPI before the calendar year closes.

"Our goal is to be the best we can be come February and March," Gottfried said. "That's always the goal, to get to be a good team at the end of the year.""

Well we sure as shit better beat Duke in Raleigh because we aren't getting a chance to beat any other ranked teams this year unless Miami and Maryland keep playing this well, which I don't see.

Deshawn was at the Norfolk St game, apparently.
He leads ODU in ppg (10.9), rpg (7.4), BPG (0.7) and 3P% (3-8).
Unfortunately, they're 1-10

Well sure, anytime a player is playing well, it's better than him not playing well, but it doesn't really effect the Painter loss.

We'd be better with Painter. We really only have a 7 man rotation, so any depth would help. I think he would've been able to provide quality minutes.

He really does his homework, though. He brings pretty good commentary and analysis to every game that goes beyond what was on ESPN.com for that week. People hate him this year for his criticism of Zo at puerto rico, but let's face it: Zo was pretty terrible and prolly deserved it. At other points of the year he has heaped a lot of praise on this team. In the Michigan game he was talking up CJL like he was the best player in the league. And said several times that nobody in the college game can stop Zo when he is driving to the FT line, which is very true. I think that he was just accurately pointing out at the Puerto Rico game what ZO was not playing to his potential and was trying to hard to find that Rajon Rondo flashy pass.

Let's not forget, this was the guy that was singing the praises of Scott Wood last year after the Georgetown game. Went as far as to go over his stats from Marion HS. Gave him a lot of good press at a time where people really tune into ESPN.

This is where I stand on Dakich: he is not very PC and loves to get himself some press, but by and large he is a very thorough analyst of the game and doesn't just sit there and collect a paycheck. And thank god that he does not have any blue blood bias like Dicky V, or that he is not a country club douche like Bilas.

As an analyst Dakich shouldn't be trying to troll anyone. That's what people like Doyle do to try and get hits on their articles. And I know plenty of people didn't like him during the PR Tournament not because he criticized Zo, but because of how damn annoying his commentary was. He was negative about everything for each team and said his same catch phrases non-stop like "CJL is just different", "You can always take a bad shot", etc.

Plus calling a kid and his dad obnoxious isn't being a troll, it's just being an asshole.

Dude are you kidding me? I don't really get corch's son. It's the internet, people don't play nice. What did he expect?

What I mean is that, if he wanted to be sincere he should have called Dakich or sent him a letter. Otherwise, don't bother.

That's not at all why I don't like him. He's annoying. Nothing to do with his criticism of Zo. In fact, Dakich was pretty high on us the entire tournament in PR. He's just annoying.

I remember him criticizing CJL more than Zo. But the dude is just flat-out annoying, overtly negative about everything, and arrogant. And he's getting exactly what he wants, attention, ego sustenance.

Uh ohhh...

Quote :
"Lorenzo Brown NC State,

Brown's numbers are inexplicably down across the board, most notably 20% from downtown, 42% from the floor and 3.8 turnovers a game.

it's disappointing considering the heavy expectations coming in. Now a junior, this was supposed to be the year he makes a jump. It appears as if the goal has shrunk for Brown, who just can't seem to score unless it's a floater in the lane or an athletic finish at the rim.

He was completely shown up by Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart and Michigan's Trey Burke, two prospects he'll be directly competing against as potential NBA point guards. Backwards steps after two years of college ball is a bad look. The arrow is currently pointing down for Brown."

There's really only four types of category PG's that stick in the NBA

1) total package. no need to describe in great detail these are the Rose, CP3, Irving types who any idiot could identify as a good prospect.

2) scoring PG's. The first that come to mind are the Westbrook/Parker types but there are quite a few Barea type PG's on people's benches that fit this mold also.

3) Guys with high pure point ratings... high assists/low turnover types like Calderon, Rubio, etc. A lot of backup PG's fit this mold too. Kendall Marshall would be a recent example of a guy who got drafted as a pure point

4) Guys who can defend and shoot the 3. This can be like Mike Conley or to a lesser extent Lindsey Hunter or Derek Fisher in their primes.

So where does the ZoPac fit in?

Well #3 and #4 can be crossed off right now because he doesn't protect the ball, he isn't good defensively, and he can't shoot 3's.

#1 is a stretch because while he does show flashes of greatness he looks more like a fringe NBA player than a star...

That leaves #2. Can he be a scorer in the NBA? I mean look at last game where he's shredding a team and you think yeah i could see that. But then you look at 44% FG, no outside shot, struggles at the FT line prior to this season, etc. It's just not clear at this point.

Another big knock against him is his age. He's four years removed from high school so he needs to really differentiate himself from his current competition or the age bias will really work against him when people compare him to 19 year old kids.
