Oh well, high five.

I've done two of the shorts and I'm on the long one... Hopefully this will get done.

Are you guys in ENG 439?

I'm working on my EEBO project still too because this is the first real long paper I've had to write (I know how did I get to be a senior without that?) and I choked. I have six pages at least.

We're in 487, but I bet your ass you have Wall. Nobody else uses EEBO like he does.

Yeah, Wall loves some EEBO.

I don't know why I want to work with him for an independent study because I imagine it will lead to more EEBO.

[Edited on May 10, 2006 at 3:49 AM. Reason : I also have one question left on the final that I can't get started on ><]

I still have one final question thing left (but it's the "choose your own plays" one) and oh, what's this? I'm still on the first page of EEBO.

I am fucked, really.

I am confused as to how he has good grade distribution. Either I suck compared to everyone else or he curves.

This is my first all nighter ever.

Hahahahahahaha.

I cannot tell you how many all-nighters I've had this semester. But to be fair, that's ChemE's fault.

I hope he curves like a mofo. I spent no time on the first paper and got a C+ on it.

I did really well on our midterm but this final isn't looking too good. And neither is my EEBO paper, honestly.

His grade distribution shows mostly As and Bs though.

I don't think there's any way he can possibly read these (what, three classes with two huge things due a piece on the same day?). I'm guessing he just checks to see if you turned it in and guesses based on your mid-term.

At least I'm working from interesting source material.

Quote :
"Lo, thus in remorse of mind my tongue hath uttered to the wantons of the world the abundance of my heart’s grief, which I have perceived by the unseemly behavior of unconstant both men and women. Yet men for the most part are touched but with one fault, which is drinking too much, but it is said of women that they have two faults: that is, they can neither say well nor yet do well."

This is going to be a close shave, I agree. I plan on getting out of here no matter what's done at 11 to get there in time. I have no idea where his office is at all... I'm guessing Tompkins 252.

You're further than I am.

Nearly satisfied with the final, barely touched the EEBO though I have a good idea of what I want to write.

His office is the first one on the left if you go upstairs on the far side of Tompkins.

Those directions make sense in my head but probably not to anyone else.

See? I'm an LCW and I have no idea what an EEBO is. You're an EE and know more about Shakespeare than I do. I mean, I like Shakespeare, but sometimes I like the Stoppard more.

EEBO is just an acronym for Early English Books Online, and as far as I know, it's only for research in Dr. Wall's classes. See also: pain in ass.

LIT is the weirdest assortment of English and FL classes- I envy LCWs, really.

Interesting.

Right now I'm re-polishing my final project for 499C.

It's about cheap seats Hurricanes fans, and I'm editing the opening from a generic pull-back spot to one that talks about Eric Staal's goal on Saturday night.

LCW

LAN is pretty diverse as well.

I had 288 this semester and that only confirmed that I should not have been in LCW. I'm not a bad writer but it's so hard to come up with things to write about.

I can't believe how much almost making it down to the middle of page 8 counts as 8 pages.

Lots of people in LCW have epicly boring ideas.

I'm one of them.

Eventually you realize that you're a boring writer and push your style until you discover a decent idea. Last semester, I only let myself write stories that were more than 20 pages or less than one page, because I'm longwinded but I'm weak when it comes to narrative. I surprised myself with some decent long story arcs and some decent pieces of concise storytelling.

I cant say as to i understand his grading rubric.

it appears as if the EEBO project only counts like 1/8th of the total grade, but i can only figure out what like 3 of the other 1/8s are.

wacky

Honestly I don't think that we were ever even given concrete percentages for everything. And the only graded assignments are the midterm, final, and final EEBO project.

The final counts 3/8, "the assignments" (EEBO, EEBO, midterm? I don't know...) are 1 part a piece, so 4/8 and attendance is 1/8.

If Hester is teaching 487 take his class.

Actually, he's a much tougher grader even though there were fewer assignments. And you have not known pain until you have had to write six pages on two lines from Hamlet.

[Edited on May 10, 2006 at 6:49 AM. Reason : I still really liked his class and got an A somehow]

Six pages on two lines is nothin'.

JUMPIN BACK FO A SEKIN:

How many lines do R&G have in the damn thing, and how long is Stoppard's play (even considering the coin flippage)? The play is basically a comic essay on Shakespeare's brilliance in crafting the two most superficially meaningless characters in his catalog. Same deal.

You might be right, though.
