I'm not saying the snooty friend isn't lying but i have had to pay like 13 cents to get a letter before bc it was short on postage. It happened again more recently and instead of holding my mail hostage I just got a slip w the amount due & I left the correct change in my mailbox

I've also had things short in postage sent back so I've had 3 different experiences. The fact no one else had that problem is definitely suspicious though

So here's my list of things I've done...this makes me feel good until I list what I haven't done.

Set Date
Booked Venue
Booked Caterer
Picked Colors for Bridesmaids Dresses (they pick their own dress)
Bought My Dress, Undergarments, prepaid for preservation kit
Booked Photographer
Booked Honeymoon
Picked song for processional and recessional.
Booked venue and caterer for Rehearsal Dinner

I have an idea and a place to order my save the dates, but we haven't gotten engagement photos done yet. His aunt is going to help us make the invites. We have 2 DJs that we are choosing between. We haven't looked at any bakeries. Need to book a room for the night before and night of the wedding. Need to book a room for the night before the cruise, his mom is booking our plan tickets. Need to figure out bouquets and boutonnieres. Need to pick a first dance and a song for parents to walk out on. I'm sure I'm missing something.

This may be random, but can we talk about gowns and undergarments? Are you expected to have undergarments before you go and try on dresses at bridal salons?

What's the norm undergarments? I have no clue.

they had under garments at davids bridal, so i would assume most places would have them. i dont think i'd buy any before i got a dress, because you don't know what you'll need.

mom and I are planners, and his mom is so excited she is just ready to do everything. also, there is a "friend" planning her wedding right on top of ours and it motivates me to get stuff done.

I didn't have any special undergarments - completely forgot my Spanx... it didn't really matter though. A lot of those dresses suck you in like nobody's business

And for my dress, I only need a strapless bra... no spanx required (I'll probably still have some though)

2^I'm glad you like it! I absolutely love it!!!!!

In other news, I'm registering online tonight.

Macy's and Royal Caribbean Honeymoons are our 2 choices, but I'm throwing in Belk because we have some people who don't have intarwebs or Macy's in our families.

Went to a food tasting at my venue tonight. Nom nom so freaking good! Picking what we want for dinner will be tough. And they let me bring food home because my fiancee couldn't make it.

Currently spending the weekend with a few couples, including the ones planning their wedding close to ours. It was going to be about 6 weeks before ours. Slightly annoying because of previous conversations we had regarding our date. Just found out it's gonna be <4 weeks before ours, and our bach. parties are gonna be during that time too. *sigh* oh well.

Any of you girls have any advice on caterers for the reception? One of my friends did Cafe Luna at 60 bucks a head. We are thinking about doing that but haven't really looked around.

Also check out Catering by Design. If you care about organic, seasonal ingredients, etc etc I'd sample Green Planet Catering as well. They came and did samples at my work a few weeks ago and it's some of the best catered food I've had in the area.

Yea we have changed our minds. I got the venue to let us bring in kegs so that will save us a ton of $ and I can actually have decent beer. We were gonna do Cafe Luna because they supplied alcohol with the food for a good price. I was looking at Catering by Design's website last night. I'm assuming the food was hot when it was served. I was looking at the first deal with ziti/chicken marsala and it sounded like what one of my friend's had and it was cold at the reception.

I hope you're kidding. I don't mean to be mean but so what if they are planning a wedding in the same season/month/time frame as you? You get your day and everyone else is allowed their day also. They are happy and have invited you to share in that happiness with them, sounds like a privilege and not something to "sigh" about.

It's a long story. But basically the four weekends before my wedding are all planned already. I'm not really mad, just annoyed a little. week one, her bach party, week two, her wedding, week three my bach party, week four my wedding. only annoyed because they got engaged really close to us and we sat down and talked about dates and decided we'd get married in the fall and they'd get married in the spring, then we set our date and they changed their minds.

I can see how that's frustrating. But I will say, I took no one else into consideration when planning my wedding date, except my husband, and possibly parents. I can't imagine tiptoeing around a season because of a friend's wedding.

i know, but that post was from the night i found out and it was annoying, and instead of saying hey, guys, we decided to do this date, instead of what we talked about, well, they whispered behind our backs all weekend about it. i just wish they were honest and open about it. guess i was hurt more about the secrets than i was by the actual date thing.

i'm over it now.

my wedding will be wonderful no matter what.

Good. I'm sure it will. And you'll have the advantage. If there's anything at her wedding that doesn't work well, you'll be able to make sure yours is better.

I wish these came in green

http://www.dsw.com/shoe/lulu+townsend+antoinette+sandal?prodId=225158&productRef=SEARCH

Though I'm tempted to get them even though they're yellow because I got these for the reception

http://www.toms.com/womens/mint-metallic-linen-women-s-classics

So at least I'll have green shoes for most of the night. But I also love these green heels:

The good (or annoying) thing about the green ones is I would have to have them dyed... But at least I would know they would be the color I want

I'm wearing toms for the ceremony and reception, but my dress is a floor length ball gown and you can't see mah toes. My bridesmaids will most likely be in Tom's as well, but with tea length dresses. I was planning on some sparkly originals for them, but now that they have the ballet flats I might change my mind.

My groomsmaid has asked me to help plan and coordinate her wedding in July. Kind of excited/honored but stressed at the same time. Its not the same when its not your wedding.

^^ We got ours from Etsy.

^ I know what you mean. The worst is when you see them making a decision that is SUCH A BAD IDEA and after a certain point you just have to hold your tongue or risk pissing them off haha.

For example, my friend booked a wedding venue that a) only holds 100 people and she invited 180 people and b) even if only 100 people show up, there's not enough space to have everyone in the same room for the dinner. Granted on the first point, it's very likely she'll have less than 100 people show up since it's a destination wedding for most of her guests, but on the 2nd point I have no idea what she was thinking. She's going to end up with guests in three different rooms and she keeps talking about how her wedding party is going to make sure everyone from the two side rooms gets up and stands in the doorway of the main room so they can hear the toasts/first dance/whatever. I'm like EFF THAT.

eh I personally appreciated it if someone told me an idea I had was logistically dumb. There were a few ideas I threw out after someone talked some sense into me. But trust me, if the initial, "You know... I just don't see how that's going to work the way you want it to..." doesn't get a dialog going then I drop it.
