So yesterday, the Obama crowd started booing after he FIRST mentioned John McCain's name.

Barack Obama responded "you don't need to boo, you just need to vote."

I know this isn't the first time Obama has done this, but I don't understand why McCain and Palin think whipping their crowds into angry hate-filled mobbs would be a GOOD thing. Why are they letting Obama beat them so consistently when it comes to "class"?

but they're no more racist than any other group.

I'm not a "poor white folks" kind of person. But we pussy foot too much about race.


I'm going to put it out there, I have prejudices against groups of people. To be honest, they're based more on socio-economic-intellectual status than skin color, but thuggish black men* are one of the groups I'm prejudiced against.

Truthfully, this is all based on a certain amount of arrogant presupposition about the "rightness" of my worldview, but I'm honest with myself about this and try to be conscious of it when I'm interacting with individuals. I will give any person I meet a fair shake until they prove me wrong. Believe me, having lived in the South all my life, having gone to a high school that was over half black, having been in a work environment that was roughly 30 - 40% black (not counting other minorities), I am acutely aware of the dynamic between the races, the justifiable latent distrust of white America that blacks mostly only discuss amongst themselves, as well as the somewhat justifiable but largely unspoken distrust by white America of the seemingly dominant "ghetto" culture in black America. You want to see real animosity? Go to LA and see how blacks and Mexicans interact.

Until we're ready to lay that sort of prejudice out in the open, we're not going to get anywhere on race. That is what I meant when I said I was no more racist than any other person in America. In the mean time, I'll continue to crack jokes I think are funny and call race like I see it.



*Barack Obama is not a thuggish or ignorant black man, and that juxtaposition is what I found funny about my humor, but so be it if you missed it.
