He took it and returned a clean plate. After he dumped the food out the window. Makes no sense to say he didn't want to be indebted to them. Going with the poison or maybe he really prefers canned fish over canned spaghetti-os

its cool that the writers think saving one little girl does a good job of starting his redemption for murdering 40 people in cold blood

I don't think redemption is the goal of the writers. more like new obsession.

When it comes to TV, saving a dog will totally redeem you instantly, and saving a kid gets you a lot of redemption points(but not insta-redemption like a dog). Killing off random adults that we've never seen before really doesn't lose you that many points to begin with.

Let him kill Daryl, and not even saving a litter of puppies will save him with this show's fan base.

He killed Merle and intentionally left him reanimate. Merle wasn't an admirable character, but I'd say allowing someone to become a zombie is a moral event horizon.

I definitely think they're characterizing this girl as a new fixation/surrogate and not redemption. Any redemptive notes are what the governor thinks of himself, "I can do right by this one. I can love her the way I should have loved my daughter."

He killed Milton and left him to reanimate to kill a chained Andrea (which many people might applaud). He also beat Glen and chained him and released a biter on him. I really hope they're not trying to redeem him, that would be lame. (and the dodging of the walker on the street was pretty lame too, that was way too easy. but the b-ball crossover gif was great)

^not to mention assaulted Maggie and killed soldiers under the guise of aid.

I'm sure he'd say the ends justify the means and that he sought to protect HIS people rather than welcome strangers, but I think he's been set up as a pretty irredeemable villain. The only sympathy he ever really garnered was over his daughter, and that was mostly revealing how fucked up he was

Maybe the reason he through out the Spaghettios was because he is on a low sodium diet. Chef Boyardee canned food isn't too nutritional. Canned fish however -- high in protein, low in fat!

i'm pretty sure canned sardines are really high in sodium. but maybe he's trying the paleo or atkinson diet to slim-down his fat face.

Hilarious that we're now arguing over the sodium content of sardines in a TV zombie show thread.

I'm wondering where the Governor stands in the "present" compared to his "flashback." What I mean is, when he's seen staring at the prison through the bushes, does he have his new family/group/camp waiting elsewhere for him, or are we going to see him go through this redemptive journey only to see him lose everything again and go batshit crazy all over again and go after the prison. I hope it's the latter, because I don't really care to see Woodbury 2.0 vs. the prison since we've already seen Woodbury vs. prison once.

And do we all agree that the Governer was the one "baiting" the walkers to the same spot on the fence with the rats?

I think we'll have one more episode of The Governor that'll get us caught up to him standing outside the prison. Think the mid-season finale is in 2 weeks, so would be a good point to start at for the season finale.

^^ the rat-baiting was coming from inside the prison fences not the outside where the Governor could put them. there is still someone nefarious inside the prison with ill intentions.

By the time the governor is at the prison I'm guessing his new 'family' is all dead.

I couldn't care less. He is a terrible character and this episode was incredibly boring.

without going back and watching, i recall Carl and Rick firing some type of AR-15/M4 type rifles, which would do just fine in humidity, rain, etc

they probably have the same guns from resident evil, where you can swim under water, come out and immediately fire upon the zombies coming up behind them

as long as you tilt the rifle muzzle down for a split second to let the water run out of the barrel, it'll shoot just fine. it'll go bang even if you don't, but there's a good chance it'll break the rifle due to high pressure. rain won't stop the rifle.

Has there been any other show that used the previous season's finale as the next season's mid-finale?

I enjoyed the break from the prison, but this elementary school "It's mine you can't have it, no it's mine I'm gonna take it" mentality over a piece of shit prison is getting old.

Rick should just be like "Ok, it's yours, just let us get our things." Then leave someone behind that is sick.

I wasn't buying how quickly overly-aggressive ex-army guy got over the fact that someone murdered his brother in cold blood by literally stabbing him in the back. I understand the premise and how the writers set it up, but c'mon, it was less than 5 min. from finding out to pledging his allegiance.

I'm really disappointed we're getting Woodbury 2.0 vs. the prison AGAIN.

I don't think the governor cares about taking the prison at all.

He just wants to get revenge on mochionne and kill anyone who threatens him.

There's probably going to be some major damage done by the tank. This has to be the end of the prison I think.

I'm surprised that the Governor trusts the ex military guy. I'd think he would have just killed him outright.

So when the Governor busted into their RV in the middle of the night and said they had to leave -- what was that about? Why did he have to leave so urgently? When he came back after the mud filled zombie pit in seemed like he just went back to his regular governing duties.

I interpreted as him making a last ditch attempt to avoid re-becoming the Governor. I found it hard to believe that there was only one road out of the camp or that they couldn't just drive around the zombie mud pit.

my prediction is that the govna invades/destroys the prison and dies in the process (either michonne or crazy guy from new camp) and then old crew (minus woodbury 1.0 folks) and some stragglers from new group head out for the rest of this season.

Also, carol returns?

yeah as hell bent as that guy was about taking out those random folks, you'd think he would wait for the governor to turn his back than cap his ass. I think the power take-over would have been more believable if they just made the two dudes "acquaintances" that met during the after math of the zombie apocalypse.

You would also think that as paranoid as the governor was he would not let the brother of some dude he just stabbed in the back remain alive. Second what is the deal with this tank. Do they really have that much gas to roll that shit up to the prison to start a war.

Perhaps during this battle Rick's crew will actually be able to cap some mother fuckers instead of spraying their guns around like they did during the last attack by Governor and Co.

^^I don't know a thing about tanks but I think they run on diesel. They are still driving cars all over the place (including a brand new/shiny Hyundai in just about every episode) so if gasoline is still somehow readily available I guess diesel is too. Ammunition for the tank on the other, don't know about that. Also, it's been like 2 years since the zombie outbreak right? I'd think that the tank would need some kind of maintenance or something. It's not like the guy has been driving it around regularly since then. I'd think that it takes more than one person to operate anyway.

Modern tanks can run on a wide range of fuels, but prefer jet fuels. That tank looked a little "small" and being a national guard-type tank, might use regular diesel.

In any case, ammo is irrelevant, it's armored, and can ride over any fence of defenses they have, smash through the prison, etc.

You know, rather than fill out the season with episodes like the last two, I'd kinda like them to take a Lost approach, and if they need filler, give about 10 minutes an episode to what these people did before the outbreak. I know its irrelevant, but I still don't think we know what the governor did prior to the disaster. Or maybe flashback to what it was like the days right after the outbreak, and how they originally got together as a group. It's probably too late to do it at this point, that would've been good for season 1, but still, they are going to string us along all next half of the season I bet, still in the prison recovering from the attack. The season finale will find them finally leaving.
