Good Morning!

I trust that you have a huge smile on your face
because it's Monday
morning and your raring to get to work! Well, how
was your weekend;
hope it went well. I tried to call you once on
Saturday afternoon and
Sunday evening as well, guess you got the messages.
So, when you went
down to your parents did they stay around and want
to see you? Just
picking! You made it sound so pitiful about driving
down there and them
just leaving.

I had a pretty slow weekend. Like I said when I
talked to you (when you
so graciously took time out of your busy day to talk
to me) I said that
we were going to see the Part-Time Party-Time Band
in Greensboro on
Thursday night. We did end up going. It rained a
little bit so they
decided to move the band inside. It's not as fun
inside as it is
outside. Another bad thing is that you are only
allowed 3 beers or 3
glasses of wine; just enough to piss you off, you
know what I mean! To
top it off, it's all Anheuser-Busch products
(Budwieser, Bud-Light,
Michelob etc.) YUCK! I don't know what your drink
of choice is, but I'm
a Miller man. I guess I can't complain too much,
it's only $5 to get
in. After leaving the concert, we proceeded to a
place called Brixx
Pizza. They have about 40 beers on tap. I was in a
daring mood and
asked the waitress to give me her favorite beer. It
also had to be
something that I had never had before. Turns out
that it was a
Hoegartten like lemonade.
After I choked that one down she brought me
something called a Pacific
Great White Shark or something like that. It was a
little better, but
by nights end, I was back to old faithful.

I had to work the Fire Dept. on Friday. I'm pretty
sure I told you I
work there part-time. I work here at Miller Brewing
Company Sunday -
Thursday from 12:00 midnight - 8:00a.m. for my
full-time job. I work at
the Eden Fire Dept. as a paid part-timer about 9
days a month. I go in
at 8:00a.m. - 5:00p.m. The good thing about that
job is that we can
submit a schedule of the days that we want to work.
Some days are more
tough than others because I'll work here at Miller
from 12:00midnite -
8:00a.m. and then go directly to the Fire Dept. from
8:00a.m. - 5:00p.m.
which turns into a 17 hour day. Most of the time I
try to plan it to
where if I have to work at the Fire Dept. 2 days in
one week, I'll try
to make one of those days Friday so I can get some
sleep the night
before. I'll usually average about 50 - 60 hours a
week combined. I'll
also work a couple of 24 hour shifts a month. I'd
like to get on
full-time at the Fire Dept., but it's like an act of
congress to get on.
It seems like someone has to either die or retire
for a position to come
open because the city counsel won't come off of any
money. I think they
have approved 1 position for this July fiscal year
and we have 1 guy
retiring, so hopefully I'll get one of those
positions. I have actually
thought about moving and finding another Fire Dept.
I joined the Eden
Fire Department as a volunteer back in 1999. I went
to part-time paid
in July 2002. I went to Reidsville Fire Dept.
(about 20 miles from
Eden) and was full-time there as a Firefighter /
E.M.T. for a couple of
years while staying with Eden part-time paid. I
left there because I
didn't like their way of doing things. I guess if I
get on full-time,
then I might work EMS part-time. I really like
working at the Fire
Dept. because everyday is different, you never know
what you might
encounter each shift. My position there is a
Firefighter / E.M.T /
Driver/Operator, which means sometimes I'll drive
and sometimes I'll be
on the attack crew. My favorite aspect is in public
education
especially when we go into the schools and teach the
kids. Myself and
another Lieutenant actually "got us back into the
schools" this past
year. We were kind of lackadaisical for a few
years. I don't know why
I'm telling you all of this, guess I'm just
rambling. I'll stop there
about the Fire Dept. and tell you more later.
Anyway that was Friday.

A buddy of mine called me on Friday night because he
was bored. His
girlfriend was out with some friends. We ended up
going to the
drive-inn. They were playing Mission Impossible III
and RV. They were
both pretty good movies. That was the first time
that I have been to
the drive-inn or to go see any movie for that matter
in a long time.

Saturday was a horse of a different color! Like I
had told you, I was
planning on pressure washing my friends concrete
deck around his pool
for him. The plan was to be out there all day. For
one, I was going to
be an actual help and while I was outside I was
hoping to get a little
sun. It just didn't happen that way. I got up
around 8:30a.m. and
went over to his house. By the way he's at his
beach house, lucky huh!
Anyway I got over there and the pressure washer
would not work! Finally
after cursing it for an hour and a half it finally
decides to run.
While testing the pattern on the nozzle, I spelled
out KISS MY ASS on my
friends deck. Just as I finished the last S, guess
what happened. Yup!
It cut off. I tried my best to start that thing up
again. I pleaded
with that machine to start up, the neighbors
probably thought I came
from the nut house because I was talking to a
machine. So there it is
etched into his deck. I knew of no one else that
had a pressure washer
that I could borrow. I called and told my friend,
he thought it was
hilarious. I ended up spending some of the
afternoon just laying out.
The city had a ribfest, so I went down there and ate
some ribs for
lunch. Oh yea! I got to see a bear on Saturday
too! I saw a lot of
people standing on a bridge which goes over one of
our two rivers in the
city and wondered what they were doing, so I slowed
down and asked. I
pulled over and walked on the bridge and there was a
black bear standing
beside the river about 60 feet away. It was fair
size, maybe 250 - 300
pounds. That was the first time that I had ever got
to see a bear not
in captivity. I went to see the band Sea Cruz on
Saturday night at
Greens Supper Club in Greensboro. They weren't too
good. I danced a
few songs and left.

After I called you on Sunday afternoon we had some
terrible storms
around this area. Lightning, hail, wind and copious
amounts of rain. I
was watching the weather channel and they were
focusing on a storm
around your area. I thought about calling and
checking on you then, but
I didn't want to worry you. It looked like your
area got a pounding as
well. I hope everything i.e. yourself, house, car
etc. are all o.k. I
was thinking that you may have been driving back.
Anyway, I was
thinking of you.

I did make it to see my mom and step mom. We didn't
do anything
exciting, just spent time together.

As I said before, Monday morning and all smiles. I
guess I'm a little
better, it's about 5:50a.m., so about 2 more hours.
It probably looks
like I don't do any work because of the length of
this e-mail. I
started this around 1:00a.m. and have been piecing
it together all
night.

I don't know if you got the pictures or not on
Saturday. If not, you'll
probably get them today. Be sure to look on the
back of each picture, I
added some quirks. I also attached some pictures of
some haz-mat and
rescue training. Can you pick me out?

Looks as if it will be a good day to sleep, it's
cloudy here. I'll be
in touch with ya sometime this week to touch base
about next week.
Everything looks good! I guess you'll still be busy
with *****'s Cattle
Magazine. HA! Try not to work too hard today. Once
again, I hope you
had an excellent weekend with your folks. Weekends
are just to short.
