Reggie Fils-Aime (Nintendo's head in America) more or less said the other day that they are stockpiling Wii's to release once the holiday shopping season starts. The idea is to make sure that anyone shopping for one for Christmas will be able to find one. In other words, the shortages are probably gonna last another couple months or so.

Toy R Us generally stocks on Sunday morning. EB Games usually gets 1-2 shipments on random weekdays around 10:30-11am

For those of you looking for decent games, I highly recommend Super Mario Strikers: Charged. Just got it yesterday and played it online all night. Check the strikers thread for more info, its on the first page of entertainment.

Anybody know how much Gamestop gives for games, on average? I have a copy of Madden 07 that I pretty much blow at and I really wanted to buy Strikers, but I forgot to bring Madden to work with me. Do they give you enough for the trade in to be worth it?

I've found you're ALWAYS better off selling used games on TWW than to gamestop/EB.

And that's saying a lot when you're selling to cheap/broke college kids.

Sell it in Classifieds for like $30 bucks . . . or any number of other places. Hell, you could probably get a bigger tax break by giving it to GoodWill (a bit of a stretch, but thats the mood I am in).

GameStop/EB hit you up every time you go in there. I had an arguement with the GameStop manager at the mall because he overheard me saying that they were selling a used copy of Wii Play for 3x more than retail. Honestly, 39.99 for Wii Play without the wiimote? They are robbing people. Probably gave the trade-in person 3 bucks for it. I can see why they would try to mark it up like that, but arguing with me about it just solidified the fact that he was a douche.

i sold madden 07 to gamestop for 7 bucks. i did their trade in 2 for 1 new game deal a couple weeks back and its depreciating so fast because of madden 08's impending release that i was lucky to get it in while it still qualified in the offer.

I hear you. I almost got kicked out of one of those stores one time for offering to buy some of the games that one of the people in line was going to trade in.

The guy had a Sega Saturn and a couple of shopping bags completely full of games and he ended up getting 2 new Dreamcast games out of them (this was within the first week or so when the Dreamcast came out). The guy got ripped of big time. He could have got easily got $400 for all he was carrying.

yes, i've installed it. I'm running Cyclowiz (latest firmware).

Also, if you check maxconsole forums, they are saying WiiKey works (PAL + NTSC)


btw, I wasn't being negative about the TWW reference. It's just funny, that's all. Can you get them to use the TWW News van graphic?

I hooked up my Wii last night and have a question about the sound.

I looked on all of the boxes for the games and they say Dolby Digital and so forth but the only output from the console is a standard red and white. I have a Pro Logic receiver but the receiver is only picking up the 2 channel sound. Am I missing something here? Is there an optical output that is hidden behind a panel somewhere?

I'm no expert, but the Wii only support like Dolby Pro Logic II, which is only 2.1 at best.

No optical output, just 2.1 outta the Wii
