Probably the Eye, but if you don't feel like braving that crowd, Dick's will have them starting tomorrow. You're welcome.
I'd also like to once again - instead of bitching about how I went to games in Greensboro(I did), watched the Ice Caps(I did) and the Checkers(I did) and therefore should be the end-all be-all North Carolina-based hockey fan - welcome the bandwagoners to the fun.
I hope you guys stick around for a while.

whatever they did to this game over the strikeout (new rule changes, etc) has made it much more entertaining to watch.
I couldnt give a fuck when watching carolina in 2002 when they were in the finals, but I got really into these games, even when they were getting their asses beat. 6/20/2006 12:00:18 PM |

i'd say it's in the top five. the big thing about this game is that it unites the entire state (and area). it's not JUST the carolina fans or duke fans or state fans. 6/20/2006 12:22:22 PM |

I've never been able to tell a dime a difference TBH. The change from the old NHL and the new NHL is the NHL's marketing as far I can tell.6/20/2006 12:23:42 PM |

^there is a definite and substantial difference....no doubt about it
it went back to a little more clutching and grabbing as the playoffs moved on, but in the regular season, touch up offsides, the new goalie rules, and the increased penalty calls were all obvious 6/20/2006 12:25:59 PM |

It'd be great if some hockey team that no one cares about like the Florida Panthers moved to Charlotte. Raleigh-Charlotte NHL rivalry would be awesome (the only sport most likely, we know we're not getting an NFL or NBA team anytime soon).6/20/2006 12:35:29 PM |

I hate to tell you guys this, but the Stanley Cup IS NOT the oldest trophy in professional sports.
The America's Cup has been competed for since 1851. This is somewhat humorous that OLN would say that the Stanley Cup was the oldest when they carry America's Cup coverage. 6/20/2006 2:17:21 PM |

In North America maybe.
Just like we're finding out with other international sports. Americans in general have piss-poor taste in athletic competition.
And well, just because nobody cares about it doesn't mean that my point is any less valid.

The America's Cup is a great event but it is not a "professional sport" in the common use of the term.
Quote : | "Yeah, and the FA Cup has been around 10 years longer then the Stanley Cup too.." |
The event has but the trophy hasn't. The current is the 4th trophy in use and it doesn't even look like the original.
Simply the traditions of passing the trophy around on the ice, individuals names on it (not just team name), and every player getting their day with the trophy are what make it so great.6/20/2006 3:12:42 PM |

America's Cup is the oldest continuous trophy in sports. (only 32 races have occurred) No one got paid to compete in the America’s Cup race, there for it was not a professional sport. It is considered a professional sport today, I think.
