I am gonna have to say that Mark Grudzelanic (sp?) is an AWESOME offseason pick-up. That man can field the shit out of second base. Plus he's a great average hitter. 5/4/2005 8:03:11 PM |

just turned on gametracker - eckstein has three errors in two innings
suppan's line (according to espn):
IP H R ER BB SO HR PC-ST ERA J. Suppan 3.0 5 6 0 0 2 1 58-41 4.01
although i'm not sure how he can have zero earned runs if someone hit a home run

packboozie All American 17452 Posts user info edit post |
They are unearned runs b/c the errors committed keep them from getting 3 outs, so anything that happens after that error that would not have happened if he made the play does not count against him. Eckstein had 3 errors in one game!!!! 5/23/2005 12:40:44 AM |

Carpenter's got a two-hitter going through seven innings...he threw a one-hit shutout two starts ago and took a three-hit shutout into the ninth last time out. This guy is so dialed in right now.
game over, 4 hits, 11 Ks, CG Shutout

So, about the trade deadline. Do we make a move?
Last year we lost the World Series not because the Red Sox were a better team. They were just built much better for the post season and a playoff run. It also didn't help that our bats went stone cold at the worst possible time. Now, we have 3 really good pitchers that will make up our playoff line-up, one of them being a left-hander that we have lacked for so long.
If I had one wish, it would be for a decent middle reliever. Our post season rotation will probably be Carpenter, Morris, and Mulder, with Marquis stepping up into a middle relief slot. He is good, but not quite as reliable as I'd like to see. Al Reyes and Ray King have been really good though, so who knows. 6/25/2005 9:30:20 PM |

wolfAApack All American 9980 Posts user info edit post |
We need Rolen back...but I like that Taguchi dude...not a bad player at all. I think the cards can win it this year if their bats dont go cold. The pitching wasnt the greatest last year,, s its a little better this year, so it shouldnt be an issue. We seem to keep dropping some close low scoring games this season, so hopefully their bats will catch fire later this year and carry them through the playoffs. 6/25/2005 10:05:04 PM |

John Kruk just said that the Cards should go after The Rocket to solidify their pitching staff. Doing so would make us serious threats to win it all. thoughts??..

well he said that Morris and Carpenter are the only two good ones right now. I personally think Moulder will come around, but the big thing is the bullpen...they have blown a few here lately.
**this was Kruk talking, so il take it with a grain of salt. 6/26/2005 10:21:48 PM |

meh, I disagree with the Krukster, mostly because I don't really care to see Roger Clemens in the birds on the bat. I agree that we need bullpen help.
The last few Cardinals games I went to were (iirc) all wins. This was back in 2002 right after DK died, when we ended up finishing out the season after his death something like 60-35.

haha fuck that...il miss it. Ive been going since before I can remember. The first game I do remember I sat in the row behind the home dugout. I was about 5 then. Im kinda pissed cause I cant make it out to St. Louis this summer, and last summer we had a chance to go to a cards/cubs game when the division was still close...something got fucked up and we missed it. Its alright though...im sure the new stadium will kick ass. 6/27/2005 10:00:55 AM |

I grew up in West Virginia, and I rode the bus with a kid named Corey Kruk, who was John Kruk's nephew. Apparently they were fairly close relatives (all incest jokes aside). Anyways, we always razzed him about his uncle being a redneck and having only one testicle. He took it pretty well though. I dunno. [/end pointless aside] 6/27/2005 5:06:02 PM |
