I think their going to split up into two groups and then their going to start competing against each other to see who gets voted off the island

She is going to convince him to set her husband free.

And from the previews, he swung too high to kill him, so I think he may end up actually cutting the handcuffs.

Why would she convice him to set het husband free? Espicially when she was getting ready to basically run away from him and her father.

episodes have gotten weaker after ep.3

once they get back on focus as to what's out there and wtf is going on...it should be more interesting

huh? I thought this episode was just as strong as if not moreso than any of the previous ones. If nothing else, this is the first episode since the pilot that really moved the plot along.

yeah
i'm with the bartleby here
real good episode

def worth missing the clark/lionel swap on Smallville

it really is starting to shape up with the Lord of the Flies more; which i have been hoping for from the beginning...

Maybe it's just cause at this point, I reallly could give a damn what's out in the woods or what's the mystery of island. The strength of the show is in the characters, their secrets, and how they interact with one another.

They are just moving the story along too slow. The content/storyline is great its just too much "slow-mo", orchestral background, deep-thought type scenes.

i'll agree with that. i just don't really like the asian people i guess and wasn't very interested in their past

and nothing too fantastical happened in this episode or at least nothing where my imagination could wander towards some weird explanatioin of the events

charlie got his guitar not because of the island, but because bald dude told him where it was

asian girl could talk

people split up and had a fight about it, which i thought was stupid

thats what i've been hoping for

as long as the characters are interesting, then that's fine

but what happens when they get to the fat guy or the black dude and his son or the rich bitchy girl and her brother? those episodes better have super cool fantastical elements

i really want to see the arabic guy's story, the pregnant girl's story(who wasn't even in this episode) charlie's story, theasshole trader dude's story, kate's real story

and most of all i want to know what the history of the island is

well maybe not the history, but them finding more stuff on the island--tonight was disappointing because they only found dead bodies in a place they found last episode

to me it just didn't seem like much was accomplished tonight

But the thing is, no one really seemed like that have an interesting backstory until they actually started develving into those character's past. Who's to say that Hurley or Michael & Walt or Boone & Shannon aren't far more intriguing than they've been portrayed as to this point.

the bald guy was weird and interesting from the beginning

jack's the main character, he's already interesting

evil asian people weren't interesting to me, but you knew they had a hidden agenda cause he was mean

so last week i kinda formed a theory of what the island's "secret" is. my theory is that the island is either heaven or purgatory (probably purgatory)...or possibly even a weird comination of both?....and that these people are are actually dead. my best guess is that this is a form of purgatory..seeing as everyone has a reason or two that they'd be in purgatory. examples: kate committed some kind of crime, asian dude has apparently killed or injured someone for money, asian woman wanted to leave her husband, musician dude does drugs, black guy hadn't been there for his son, the son hasn't openly accepted his father, etc., etc...plus the "vision" of his father's "ghost" walking around on the island would fit into this being a level of purgatory...

it seemed like Locke (the bald guy) had sorta figured this out in last week's episode since he said...
Quote :
"...I'm not a big believer in...magic. But this place is different. It's special. The others don't wanna talk about it because it scares them, but we all know it, we all feel it."
Quote :
"...But I have looked into the eye of this island, and what I saw...was beautiful."

i still maintain this theory after tonight's espisode because of something else Locke said the bit about the island having something to give to charlie but that Charlie had to first give something to the island. if the reason he is in purgatory is that he did drugs, then giving up the drugs would get him out of purgatory and give him happiness (which i guess is found in his music...hence getting the guitar when he gave up the drugs). i know it seems like Locke gave him the guitar rather than island "giving" it to him, but going back to how i think Locke has figured out this "secret" of the island it would make sense that Locke would make Charlie give up the drugs before showing him where to find his guitar.

also, i'm predicting that they're going to finally locate that French distress call and that they'll find someone alive wherever the calls is coming from.

^ I was thinking the samething. Seems like everyone has something they need to deal with before they can move on.

I just can't decide what that makes the creature in the woods. is it good or bad?

if you don't think those dead bodies, and what they had with them, were important, you might as well go back to being spoonfed The Apprentice and WifeSwap

i don't doubt they're important

they just don't mean anything right now

unlike the water that was found last week

if there was more explained or found out about the bodies then tonight's episode would have been a little better

Nice Willie Nelson song at the end...

Look around you
Look down the bar from you
At faces that you see
Are you sure that this is where you want to be

These are your friends
But are they real friends
Do they love you as much as me
Are you sure that this is where you want to be

You seem in such a hurry to lead this kind of life
You've caused so many pain and misery

Look around you, take a good look
Just between you and me
Are you sure that this is where you want to be

Please don't let my tears persuade you,
I had hoped I wouldn't cry
But lately, teardrops seem a part of me

But, look around you, take a good look
Just between you and me
Are you sure that this is where you want to be

Awesome episode. I didnt see all of that coming with the Korean couple. I just figured they were acting like normal Koreans

SO much shit you want to know. I still want to know what the monster was, want to know who the dead people are, want to know Kates story, etc.

This episode was as good as any have been, I agree with Bartleby and Woodfoot.

yay, i was right! i thought that was willy nelson.

but yeah, as far as this episode and the last one, they are doing more character development in order to make the plot later make sense. its a necessary evil. i still find it entertaining, but it doesnt have the rollercoaster feel of the first few, where something new was around every corner.

i think each person represents an emotion or personality trait of a person. like someone from the crash is in a coma and all this is in their head. like jack is responsibility one, korean dude is anger, fat dude is gluttony, kate is past mistakes, charlie is temptation. shit like that. maybe that could explain the polar bear thing too. Like if you see/read something during the day it can make its way into your dreams at night 7 that polar bear was in that kid's comic book. whatever, that's my theory.

i had that theory a week or 2 ago too, but then i thought of something that made me think this theory was wrong...only i can't think of what it was right now

i just got done watching the latest episode, was a little slow, but still interesting, i dont understand why the doc seemed to hide the black and white rocks (definately something going on with those) from baldie and charlie though.

for that theory, i was thinking that would explain why they didnt find any bodies from the other half of the plane, but then i remembered there were all those dead bodies in the fuselage. i would think you wouldnt have a bunch of corpses in purgatory.

^^ yeah i considered that, but the bodies could be explained as the people who moved on to either heaven or hell. they have moved on so all that is left of them is their bodies, not their souls. i mean going with the theory that the island is a form of purgatory, anything is really possible.

I think most of you people think too much about this show and look too deeply into it. And I disagree with all your theories

your theories about magic/supernatural are all retarded

the producers, writters and directors have all said, over and over again, that this show is not about fantasy

it would make for one hell of a plot twist at the end.

like if each person died off as they put their unfinished business to rest.

but the whole scene with the one girl dying and the dude living fucked up the purgatory idea, because she didnt do shit to resolve her idiocy, she just died in a riptide.

^^ How do you know she didn't resolve anything? she wasn't a main character so we didn't know anything about her. We don't even know if she was a real person no one seemed to see her but the two guys. Could be similar to Jack seeing his Dad...
