Box lax goalies wear more padding than we do.

Field lax goalies are pretty insane.

Then again, lax players seem to be a little off in general, if you catch my drift.

Maybe so.

We can locker box if you want, but I'll have a distinct advantage with my big bulletproof plate.

bttt for Cam Ward's shutout in the Stanley Cup Final. The last rookie goalie to get a shutout in the Final was, you guessed it, Patrick Roy in 1986.

does being a goalie help you get laid? has it ever?

Think Carm Ward has put a little spark in the heart (or crotch) of girls around State that you can benefit from?

I have a girlfriend and she's not really impressed, but I do know plenty of girls who have a thing for hockey players.

If anything, being a goalie might have the opposite effect, since it makes you look fat and no one can see your face.

but your face wont get destroyed through your playing career, so thats a plus.

What do you use, or suggest, for spraying gear down while airing it out after games/practices. I wash my jersey, socks, pants, etc... but I know that you cant wash other equipment in non-tumble washing machines, and I dont feel like hauling it to a laundry mat every time.

aight, i'll try that. i may have to buy a shitload and just dump it all in a 5g bucket and put all my shit in there and let it soak for a few days then air it out.....or just burn it and buy new stuff.

I'll put it this way: the formerly silver wrists of my C/A had turned green, and one spraydown with the antimicrobial stuff turned them back to slightly-greenish-silver.

This is what happens when you don't really try and you blame someone else immediately for each and every goal.

I'm not going to read this thread all the way through to see if my question was asked

Do you ever foresee a time when the real kick save will come back into vogue?

Absolutely not. The butterfly is quicker, easier to execute, and not much chance of whiffing on the puck like there is with a Fuhr-style kick. Pads aren't really designed to follow the shin any more, either. They rotate to face the shooter as soon as the inside gusset touches the ice.

As a goalie, what is your opinion of Kevin Nastiuk?

He's solid positionally, but his scrambling/desperation factor needs work and he looks like a career ECHL/AHLer to me. There's a reason that Justin Peters got playing time during the preseason and Nastiuk didn't.

Do you think Cam Ward will continue with his post season production last year into this year, or do you think he'll revert to last year's regular season form?

Early in the season, Cam was fantastic. I'm not sure that his decline over the course of the regular season wasn't just a result of the daily NHL grind and getting thrown into some bad situations and cleanup duty. I can't pretend that he didn't look too great as the season wound down, but he almost stole Game 2 against Montreal and other than two games, he was absolutely stellar after that. There's no telling what a run like that can do to the confidence of a guy who already has a number of marquee awards in top leagues.

In my second game ever as a forward, I scored a goal, hit a post, got robbed on a point blank shot, blocked two shots, AND got a penalty.

CRAZY.

Do you ever do any outdoor/inline stuff? There is an outdoor rink in decent condition in Cary by one of the greenways that I speedskate on. I think its owned by a condo place but I was gonna go in there and ask them about using it and getting some people out there. I might go out there tommorow and check it out again, but its a decent size (old tennis court converted), if anything I'll go out there to practice if they let me (since it would be free)

I know theres an outdoor rink at Rec Zone but last I went out there it was in sad sad shape. Know of any others around besides the one I mentioned?

I can't inline skate to save my life, so I've never played roller hockey. I know there's a rink in a park on New Hope Road in Raleigh, but I don't know anything about it except that it's there. That's the only other outdoor place I know of.

Found it, its a 5 minute drive from my house. I have actually been to it before, but just forgot it was there. Soon as I pulled in I was like "Ive been here before". Its a decent outdoor rink, I only wish the fence was higher at the ends or there was netting of some sort. But I will go out there alot now to practice and prolly speedskate around it. I'll try to setup some times if anyone is interested in getting some small pickup games going, I think Northtosouth was trying to start up some pickups. Also, I dont know if its used heavily or not for any activities, doesnt seem like it since its in decent shape.
