Box lax goalies wear more padding than we do.
Field lax goalies are pretty insane.
Then again, lax players seem to be a little off in general, if you catch my drift. 4/6/2006 4:16:17 AM

does being a goalie help you get laid? has it ever?
Think Carm Ward has put a little spark in the heart (or crotch) of girls around State that you can benefit from? 6/20/2006 8:29:42 AM

I have a girlfriend and she's not really impressed, but I do know plenty of girls who have a thing for hockey players.
If anything, being a goalie might have the opposite effect, since it makes you look fat and no one can see your face. 6/20/2006 6:04:35 PM

What do you use, or suggest, for spraying gear down while airing it out after games/practices. I wash my jersey, socks, pants, etc... but I know that you cant wash other equipment in non-tumble washing machines, and I dont feel like hauling it to a laundry mat every time. 7/17/2006 1:21:05 AM

aight, i'll try that. i may have to buy a shitload and just dump it all in a 5g bucket and put all my shit in there and let it soak for a few days then air it out.....or just burn it and buy new stuff. 7/17/2006 1:23:58 AM

I'll put it this way: the formerly silver wrists of my C/A had turned green, and one spraydown with the antimicrobial stuff turned them back to slightly-greenish-silver. 7/17/2006 1:27:40 AM

I'm not going to read this thread all the way through to see if my question was asked
Do you ever foresee a time when the real kick save will come back into vogue? 8/17/2006 1:24:45 AM
|
vinylbandit All American 48079 Posts user info edit post |
Absolutely not. The butterfly is quicker, easier to execute, and not much chance of whiffing on the puck like there is with a Fuhr-style kick. Pads aren't really designed to follow the shin any more, either. They rotate to face the shooter as soon as the inside gusset touches the ice. 8/17/2006 1:36:42 AM

As a goalie, what is your opinion of Kevin Nastiuk? 8/17/2006 1:47:10 AM
|
vinylbandit All American 48079 Posts user info edit post |
He's solid positionally, but his scrambling/desperation factor needs work and he looks like a career ECHL/AHLer to me. There's a reason that Justin Peters got playing time during the preseason and Nastiuk didn't. 8/17/2006 1:51:47 AM

Do you think Cam Ward will continue with his post season production last year into this year, or do you think he'll revert to last year's regular season form? 8/17/2006 2:06:21 AM
|
vinylbandit All American 48079 Posts user info edit post |
Early in the season, Cam was fantastic. I'm not sure that his decline over the course of the regular season wasn't just a result of the daily NHL grind and getting thrown into some bad situations and cleanup duty. I can't pretend that he didn't look too great as the season wound down, but he almost stole Game 2 against Montreal and other than two games, he was absolutely stellar after that. There's no telling what a run like that can do to the confidence of a guy who already has a number of marquee awards in top leagues. 8/17/2006 2:15:39 AM

Do you ever do any outdoor/inline stuff? There is an outdoor rink in decent condition in Cary by one of the greenways that I speedskate on. I think its owned by a condo place but I was gonna go in there and ask them about using it and getting some people out there. I might go out there tommorow and check it out again, but its a decent size (old tennis court converted), if anything I'll go out there to practice if they let me (since it would be free)
I know theres an outdoor rink at Rec Zone but last I went out there it was in sad sad shape. Know of any others around besides the one I mentioned? 9/2/2006 4:39:04 AM

I can't inline skate to save my life, so I've never played roller hockey. I know there's a rink in a park on New Hope Road in Raleigh, but I don't know anything about it except that it's there. That's the only other outdoor place I know of. 9/2/2006 4:45:47 PM

Found it, its a 5 minute drive from my house. I have actually been to it before, but just forgot it was there. Soon as I pulled in I was like "Ive been here before". Its a decent outdoor rink, I only wish the fence was higher at the ends or there was netting of some sort. But I will go out there alot now to practice and prolly speedskate around it. I'll try to setup some times if anyone is interested in getting some small pickup games going, I think Northtosouth was trying to start up some pickups. Also, I dont know if its used heavily or not for any activities, doesnt seem like it since its in decent shape. 9/3/2006 7:44:16 AM
