Delta.
Pray to God our plane doesn't go down in flames like Jeff's batting average!

^The article makes a jab at the struggles of both. Frenchy is popular in Atlanta, but his popularity is shrinking every day so I'm not sure why Delta would enter into an endorsement deal with him. They'd have been better off with Smoltz or Giles, two equally popular players in Atlanta that don't carry the risk that Franceour does.

don't worry about him, Ernie. He's feeling what it feels like to have been a brave for the past 14 years and he's not used to it. It'll fade. Braves always play .500 ball until the all star break. 4/28/2006 2:55:22 PM |

I'm really fed up with FSN South. They are showing hockey instead of Pedro vs. Smoltz. Oh wait, I get to watch the replay of the game now. Thanks a lot FSN South. 4/28/2006 9:49:23 PM |

yeah, unfortunately, it's going to take more pitching like last night for us to even be a challenger to the division title. Our bats aren't working. 5/2/2006 8:38:03 AM |

The bats will come back around. 1-2-3 in the order are all coming back from a couple of weeks of not hitting so it will take a few games. I just hope we can avoid anymore injuries to important players. Damn Mets are rolling... 5/2/2006 9:19:08 AM |

Saw another update on the sale of the Braves - still looks like Liberty Media in Colorado will get the bid. In the article, I saw this blip too:
Quote : | "Time Warner already sold off Turner South to Fox Cable Networks for $375 million. The longtime announcing team of Skip Caray, Pete Van Wieren, Don Sutton and Joe Simpson (along with Caray's son, Chip, a more recent addition) will be dumped from the remainder of the 58 Braves games shown by Turner South.
Bob Rathburn and Jeff Torborg, who were calling a limited slate of games on Fox Sports Net South, will take over the telecasts on Turner South as well. Van Wieren, Sutton, Simpson and the Carays will be relegated to radio and the 70 games shown by TBS — the superstation that once had the Braves as the centerpiece of its cable programming but switched to a more diversified format after Time Warner took over. " |
Can't believe they are not going to let Carey, Sutton, Van Wieren, and Simpson finish out the season on Tuner South. Fuck Fox Sports - their baseball coverage is shitty and always has been.5/2/2006 12:15:51 PM |

The thing about it is who watches the Braves on Turner South the most? Probably die hard Braves fans that want to hear Skip, Don, Joe, and Pete. Putting on a couple of scrubs to do the play by play is only going to hurt their ratings even more. Fuck em....

I wonder if Bobby has considered moving Renteria to the leadoff spot and Giles back to the #2 hole. I'm sure he'd hate to mess with how hot Edgar has been, but Giles just cannot get on base and I think moving him back to his customary #2 spot could help him. Neither player is going to steal many bases so it's a wash in terms of speed. 5/10/2006 3:10:56 PM |
ncsuapex SpaceForRent 37776 Posts user info edit post |
I was kind of curious as to why Edgar wasn't batting leadoff and Giles was. Edgar has pretty much always been a leadoff guy and Giles pretty much a 2 hitter... But I haven't won 2000+ MLB games and 14 Division titles (15 if you wanna count the one with Toronto) and a WS... I would hate to mess with Edgars hit streak but I think it's best if he leads off. 5/10/2006 3:14:07 PM |
rflong All American 11472 Posts user info edit post |
^ I don't ever really remember Renteria leading off. When he played for the Fish, I remember him hitting 2nd behind Luis Castillo, for the Cards he was either #2 or like #6, and for the Sox he hit #2 or #6 as well. I could be wrong though... 5/10/2006 3:19:52 PM |

I thought he was leadoff for the Cards and Boston made him #2 and he wasnt happy.. I can't remember. I rarely pay attention to any other teams other than the Braves. 5/10/2006 3:21:59 PM |

Reitsma does not have what it takes to be a closer. He sucks under pressure, can't strikeout anyone, and is inconsistent as hell. Pretty much the same as Kolb last year. I think the Braves should try Sosa as a closer once Ramirez is off the DL. He is a fire baller and might do better there than in long relief. Not like it's going to hurt considering Reitsma is about as worthless as Jose Lima. 5/11/2006 11:48:26 AM |

it tears me apart to see an atlanta pitching staff this horrible. I grew up watching the braves. I remember maddux, glavine, and smotlz. The braves were never bats, we were always strong pitching... now we have neither 5/11/2006 1:34:11 PM |
