Reina got an early start on every ball - Cech always seemed late, like he was trying to react to each shot post-strike... he needed to be in motion already - fine with me though

the call at the end of the clip is a lot of fun too

^^ Jumping early is just the way things are done. It's illegal, but it's tolerated, and there's nothing wrong with taking advantage of that.

"Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson is sure Milan will defeat Liverpool in the Champions League Final. “I plan to drink to their success,” he said.
“I would bet for sure that Milan will win the Champions League, I’m absolutely certain of it,” said Ferguson in an interview to The Sun.

“I told [Milan boss] Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the semi-final that there is no way he can now not win the tournament.
“Carlo gave me a magnificent bottle of wine, but I told him there is no point in giving such a wonderful gift if he fails in the Final.
In fact, I told him I would only drink his wine once I see him lifting the Champions Cup.” “I am still trying to analyse and understand the factors involved. But the truth is we faced one of the best performances in the entire history of the San Siro outfit.” "

you guys need to watch the UEFA cup final on live right now from glasgow...1-1 after regulation, sevilla scored on the last touch of the 1st extra time....espanyol scored to make it 2-2 with 4 minutes left in the 2nd extra time on a brilliant goal (playing a man down too)

I was bored at work yesterday and started watching some youtube videos of Kaka and Thierry Henry to pass the time. Kaka is a great player and all, but I still think Henry is a better all-around player

flame on

It's hard to compare them. Kaka gets loads more time and space than Henry does because that's just how Serie A works.

true

I was watching a "top 10 Kaka highlights" video and all it was was a bunch of upper 90 shots from outside of the box

watch the same kind of video for Henry and you see him juke out 4-5 players then make the same shot

I guess I just think that Henry has the total package as far as speed, technical ability, power, creativity, etc.

I'm in Florence, Italy - might get on a train to Milan if they win...I hope the game is as awesome as its building up today. Some kid in my study abroad class wore a Liverpool jersey to class today, ballsy or fucking stupid?

henry is just a technical wizard with unmatched speed...it is unbelievable what he can do with the ball...kaka has more of the zidane technicality...both have insane touch

[Edited on May 23, 2007 at 1:00 PM. Reason : there are plenty of kaka goals where he pretty much goes coast to coast]

The better team lost the game.

Milan looked like garbage but they finished their few chances and Liverpool did not, it's as simple as that. Liverpool can really only blame themselves: Pennant missed a good opportunity, Alonso didn't finish his chance in the first half, Gerrard missed the breakaway, etc. The only real complaint they can have about the officiating is (not that it's a big deal because a goal was unlikely anyways) but two goals, five substitutes, stoppage to get a fan off the field... and he still didn't give the minimum of the 3 minutes of added time announced.

Anyways, I think Rafa made a couple of big mistakes - bringing on Crouch too late, leaving Zenden in too long, and bringing on Kewell. I would've rather seen Riise move into that winger role and play 3 at the back or drop Mascherano in a little deeper than having Kewell out there. You could tell Gattuso really intimidated him and he tried to go 1v1 way too much. Zenden was horrible the entire game and should've been out at halftime.

Oh well, congrats to Milan, they were due after Istanbul anyways

my most hated sports cliche...if they were better they would not have lost...milan played very shaky but still did what was needed to win...why? because they are a better team

I think the fair thing is to say that Liverpool was better at creating good scoring chances, but Milan was better at turning their chances into goals

Liverpool had the majority of the possession, Pirlo/Kaka were nonexistent all game, the first Milan goal was a fluke goal, and I can only remember one shot Milan had other than the 2 goals

so it makes perfect sense to say Liverpool played the better overall game, they were just unlucky that Milan turned their only two scoring chances into goals

Liverpool really took it to Milan in the 1st half, but they didn't bury any of the 3 quality chances they had (Dida's save on Pennant, Riise's high volley, and Gerrard's complete whiff). I agree that in the 2nd half Rafa waited too long to make the necessary adjustments by bringing on ANYONE to replace Zenden, and I was shocked that Crouch didn't get in the game sooner.

Oh well, as a Reds fan I can't really complain. We stole one in 2005 and gave one away in '07. Here's to bringing in Et'o or Villa and making a run at the Prem title in '08!

I don't understand why it's so hard for you to say "Okay you're right, Milan played like shit"

they're champions of Europe, so who cares how they did it

milan hung in there and poached a goal and deflected one in.if liverpool were the better team, they would have made their chances count a la the real madrid team at the turn of the century (as much as i hated them).

milan definately didn't play well...liverpool wasn't exactly lighting it up either...it was a rather ugly game from all aspects...it didn't seem like anyone's touch was there tonight...i don't know why it is so hard for you to not cop out and admit that milan is a better squad and won because of that very reason...i shall not rest on this...i am one of few italian soccer fans on this board in a crowd of english supporters

and as for kaka being non-existant...i assume you saw where he had possession at the top of the box and was taken down, setting up pirlo's free kick that ended in a goal...i also assume you saw kaka assist on filippo's second goal...

I guess I didn't make it clear, but after my first post, I said
Quote :
"Liverpool played the better overall game"
which is what I really meant.

I don't think either team is much better than the other, all I meant was Liverpool played the better game.

And as for Kaka, the foul leading to the first goal was less of Kaka brilliance and more of Alonso stupidity. And yes, the pass on the second goal was great, but one pass does not make a game.

its not a pick for me. I've always been a Italian football fan since I was a little kid. Same with my dad and his side of the family...since they're Italian. Same goes for AC Milan Got to say, it was a dream come true for me to actually witness Italy winning the cup in person. Last time they won was the year I was born.

I got terminated from nasioc.com because I was an Italian fan. haha...

Roberto Baggio is my favorite player of all time... I've never been against Italy or Italian teams, in fact I used to pull for them when Baggio was playing

I just don't really like any of their current team except for Maldini and Gattuso
