I saw they were trying to make him into the traditional monster of a guy that Indy has to fight, but the camera angles didn't really accomplish that at all and made the russian look smaller than he was. 5/26/2008 4:40:05 PM |

I blame fucking George Lucas for fucking this film up. Someone should have reminded him he was working on an Indian Jones movie not Starwars. I had no problem with the first half of the movie. Shit got ridiculous though when we had tarzan swinging vine to vine; monkeys attacking Russians, resurrecting aliens, and flying saucers taking off.
Honestly i had no problem with the "alien crystal skull" however the way they ended it though i thought was stupid.
Also i think they over did the fight scenes. Seems like every 5 minutes indy was running from someone or punching someone in the face.

i think thats a fair assessment, but i liked it overall.
subtract out the vine swing, make a couple of the chases a smidge shorter, and take out the CGI alien at the end and you've got a pretty decent flick. i mean, the crystal skeletons looked cool, why not just have them fry her brain instead of turning into some lame looking fleshy alien? 5/26/2008 7:29:42 PM |

The movie wasn't great but I don't understand why you guys are so mad about aliens. Out of all the crazy things in the plots from the different movies, Aliens having visited the planet and helped ancient civilizations is the most feasible and has the most evidence. I mean cmon now. Humans were living in caves chasing animals forever then all of a sudden at the same time, great civilizations pop up across the globe and suddenly theres all this technology bringing us to where we are today. All that is not even the last 1% of human history.

I believe one reason everyone has been able to swallow raiders and crusade was its plot devices and their relevance to America's major religion, thus everyone has some familiarity with them.
I thought the movie was pretty good...a little outlandish, but it wouldnt be Indy if it wasnt.
I could have done without the vine swinging and the refrigerator bit, but I thought Lebouf and Ford worked well together. 5/27/2008 12:38:27 AM |

All of you people bashing CGI seem to forget:
1) Horrid Gostbusters graphics of Ark spirits in Raiders 2) Horrid graphics during the mine chase in Temple of Doom 3) Horrid graphics of nazi dude shaking his fist at escaping zeppelin in Last Crusade
Not that any are a big deal, but George Lucas isn't a stranger to using weak sauce to tell a story.
At least Jar Jar didn't pop up.

Where is this evidence? Based on our current knowledge, aliens helping ancient civilizations has no more evidence backing it than saying the Ark of the Covenant can melt peoples faces off. That is to say there is no evidence to back either of those claims. You may think it sounds reasonable, but I could say flying spaghetti monster helped them out and neither of us could prove the other wrong. Or I could say that the dawn of agriculture allowed for great leaps in the advancement of human kind, and I'd be right.

The evidence is the stuff they had in the film. The Nazca lines, weird artwork in ancient ruins, all that stuff makes some researchers/oddities believe there were ancient aliens. There are also phrases in the Bible about a rain of fire and a man coming out of the sky in a chariot of fire.
I'm not saying there were aliens, but that's some of the evidence. Check out 'Chariots of the Gods'.5/27/2008 4:06:23 PM |

^^pseudoscience and speculation is not evidence, which was my point. I wasn't saying the possibility does not exist, just that there is currently nothing to support the claim. It just doesn't work to say, "you cannot explain how these cave drawings/stonehenge/nazca were created so it must have been with the help of extraterrestrials." 5/27/2008 4:35:13 PM |

That and similarities in american and african drawings/buildings. Also the precise way certain buildings were line up to face the magnetic north poles and so much more I could literally go on all day. What about ufo's? are millions of eyewitnesses not evidence?
and where is the evidence for the crazy stuff in the other movies? 5/27/2008 7:12:17 PM |

well I guess we have to completely throw out the door the possibility that plenty of UFO sightings are a hoax or the result of natural phenomena. I think daire has lost it. Don't get me wrong i think it is very likely and almost certain that other lifeforms exist at some point or at some time in the vast domain known as the universe. However, i find it UNLIKELY that aliens use earth as some kind of "observation" project and guided early humanity in its development. 5/27/2008 11:57:23 PM |
