With the uproar over the Beason pick at 25, just think what it would have been if we had taken him at 14 with out getting the extra picks. 4/28/2007 5:26:47 PM |

Fucking ease up on the guy. NFLdraftcountdown had us taking Beason at 14 just a few days ago, so the guy is legit in the eyes of the draft gurus. And the guys on the ESPNU draft special think he's going to be the best LB from this draft (said he's the most natural LB).
Would have rather had Griffin, but what can you do. 4/28/2007 5:42:44 PM |

also fyi the next 4 picks are BAL, SD, CHI, IND
i doubt they'll take Olsen over Heap, Gates, DClark and DClark
^yeah they say he can play inside linebacker or outside on the right or left...and many had him as the 2nd best LB in the draft, only behind Patrick Willis (MISS)

Speaking of NFLdraftcountdown.com ....
JON BEASON Scouting Report:
Strengths: Terrific athlete...Short but not necessarily small...Very good speed and quickness with a burst...Outstanding instincts and awareness...Is strong, physical and plays much bigger than he is...Solid tackler and a violent hitter...Has sideline-to-sideline range...Solid in coverage...Always seems to be around the action...Versatile with experience at all three linebacker positions...Has a motor that never stops...Fantastic leader with excellent intangibles...A great special teamer.
Weaknesses: Undersized and does not have the ideal height that you look for...Frame might be maxed out...Overly aggressive at times and as a result he will miss a few tackles and get fooled...Doesn't have real fluid hips...Not a great blitzer...Gets engulfed by massive blockers...Battled some injuries and durability is a legitimate concern.
Notes: ...Has just about everything you look for except height and can be a three down player in the pros. 4/28/2007 5:48:37 PM |

^^ Yeah, the injury thing is kinda disheartening.
But in his defense, Dan Morgan didn't miss a single game at Miami IIRC. Maybe we'll get some reverse mojo with Beason. 4/28/2007 5:57:10 PM |

I wouldnt doubt if the Colts pick up Olsen, I know Clark had that injury last year and everyone was really really worried
Chicago could go with him as well but I see it more of a fit for the Colts
and Davis?? I thought they woulda went with someone else but hey...speed and hands thats what they didnt have last year. 4/28/2007 5:59:58 PM |

i think they got a good pick....they went after speed, to stretch the defense. they already have a big target in the red zone in Gates, they dont need another big receiver. 4/28/2007 6:01:31 PM |

Yeah, you probably are.
Did you see him against us? We could of put 10 guys on him and he still would have destroyed us. His QB at GT was terrible, often just flinging it up in the middle of the field. Johnson would come down with his shit passes nearly every time. It will be scary to see what he can do with a good, hell, even a decent QB throwing him the ball.
Thank God he didn't end up in Tampa .... though I guess it could still happen.
