I will admit when he was going all over the top trying to get evicted instead of Dani, it was getting pretty annoying. But when you look at a) why he was doing it and b) he's still fucking there in spite of it, it just doesn't get any more bad-ass than that. Dr Will on Season 2 was close, but I think this tops it.

^^ Dr. Will is the best BB player ever. people hated him, he never won head of household and he still won the game once and came in the top five (four maybe) in all stars.

i don't get all the hate towards daniele. she has been my favorite all season. sure, sometimes she shows that she has just turned 21 and does a bit of whining, but nothing too excessive (in my view).

it would be interesting to see a final 2 between dick and zach...however, i really hope its daniele and either of the other two with daniele winning.

I've been keeping up with it most of the season, and I've been pulling for Danielle and Dick from the beginning, so I'm hoping those 2 go to the finals so one of them is assured to win. I really don't want Zack getting it for just riding coat-tails and then getting lucky the last 2 weeks.

It wont be Zach and Danielle. He knows damn well he has a much better chance with Dick in the final two. If Zach wins HoH, he evicts Danielle.

it cracks me up when people int eh Jury house complain about someones gameplay.."OMG, I hate Dick, his gameplay is horrible" Well, it can't be that bad if it's going to get him to the finals.

Either of the Donato's SHOULD win this show. The Finals will be either Danielle/Zach in which Danielle will win, Dick/Danielle in which Danielle will win and Dick/Zach, in which Zach will probably win but shouldn't. The majority of the jury house will vote on personal reasons instead of strategic. Amber will decide that Zach is suddenly a "good" person because he's not Dick

oh well, we'll see. THere's a good chance Dick/Danielle will be the final two, which is what I'm hoping for.

Ok, if Zach wins HoH and takes Danielle to the final two, he is the biggest idiot in the game. It's not gonna happen. Unless he is a colossal fuckup, he will take Dick to the final two with him if he gets to make the decision.

yeah, i think i would have done better on those last 6 questions than they did. daniele is right...how did they not get that jen thought herself was the best competitor?

but now its dick and daniele...you gotta think zach, amber, jameka, jen, and dustin are all very likely votes for daniele. i would assume jessica would vote for daniele as well. eric could be forced to vote for dick. but it looks like daniele should win convincingly...at least the way i see it.

There's no question America will vote for Eric to campaign for Dick to win. I think it will come down to how hard Eric tries to campaign. He has a strong influence on Jessica, and Amber is so dumb, you could get her to vote for Bin Laden if you talked to her for about 5 minutes. I can see that fagmo drama queen Dustin making some gay ass speech about how they're both horrible people that don't deserve to win and having them pick a number between 1 and 10 to see how he votes. I would imagine Zach is leaning towards Dani to win, but maybe something Dick says on the Finale night will sway him. I think it will be close. I still think Dani is the strong favorite to win, but I wouldn't count Dick out just yet.

Well shit...i don't care who wins, I was hoping Zach would pull the money out of his ass...oh well. Is she wins, she gets the $$...if he wins..he gives her plenty of $$ so it won't matter in the end.

fuck! hopefully dick wins, but i doubt it. too many people on the jury hate him. god i hate that smug bitch danielle. i was ok with dick... liked him more in the beginning. they're both really annoying with them talking about how bad-ass they are and how they're the two best players to ever play the game. will was far superior. dick would have been gone had it not been for america's vote... causing dustin's eviction instead of dick. eric would have played the game differently as well and at the very least, either dick or danielle would have been gone when jessica was HOH.

Popularity Contests and Formats

Quote :
"The UK/AU versions are nothing more than popularity contests where the hottest (usually guy) wins. The houseguests aren't allowed to talk about nominations or strategy at all. It's nothing more than the basic concept of watching people live in a house, which I guess like I said is the concept of the show, but I'll be damned if it's not boring as hell to actually watch. "

I was willing to concede this issue a month ago, but after Eric got his orders to get Dustin out instead of Dick, America all but refuted this theory because that was the week when they basically turned BB8 into--guess what--a POPULARITY CONTEST. I hope America’s happy with their decisions given there were ample opportunities to eliminate the Donatos via America‘s Player.

Let’s say that CBS had kept the original Dutch format from Season 1, this is what would have happened:
1) Chill Town wouldn’t have won Seasons 2 or All-Stars

2) In Season 4, Jun (winner) would have never made it to the final 3 and Alison (runnerup) would’ve been gone at the halfway point

3) Janelle would have WON Season 6, hence negating the need for America’s Choice last year or America’s Player this year

4) Amber, Daniele, Dick, Jen, and Joe would have been nonfactors as the biggest feud would have been between Carol and Jessica with the house picking sides

My point being is that without HOHs, give the HGs enough time and they would have formed their own alliances. It would have been a matter of which group outlasting the competition--and each other.

Turnaround
In a matter of weeks, Season 8 went from being potentially one of the best to the second worst behind Season 4.

Reasons for the 180 include:
1) The failure of the America’s Player experiment. People can spin it anyway what they want, but the ultimate goal is to be in the final two, and for Eric (on behalf of America), the final four, but Eric couldn’t even reach the cutoff stage where he was to play on his own. Count me in the Eric had no choice as AP. It would be a mistake to repeat having this experiment in Season 9. Any future HG who knows the ins and outs of the game would eventually catch on and expose AP much to the producers’ chagrin

2) Amber. Not only did she prove to be an anti-Semite, but she was an emotional wreck from Week 1. She did not even belong in the game given her chronic crying. I mean for a last-minute replacement, CBS should and could have found someone else. Also, her playing the Christian card exposed her for the hypocrite that she is. Hell, Kail is a better Christian than Meth Addict Amber

3) Horrible strategy. Earlier, I blamed America for two unlikable people in the Donatos netting $550,000 tonight. However, the remaining HGs are even more responsible for the mess tonight as they were tripping over themselves to keep Dick and Daniele in as a way of netting an easy win. Somebody should have told these morons that keeping the most detestable players is not only bad strategy but something that often backfires when it comes to finales as the most hated walk way with the ultimate prize in such a situation. After all, a jury will use the “playing the game well” excuse

Quote :
"I'd so much rather watch the backstabbing, plotting, scheming, lying, betraying and strategizing that is allowed by this format. Of course it means that sometimes the "right" person doesn't win. But you gotta take the good with the bad."

There’s a right way and a wrong way, and by doing things the wrong way, most juror members got stabbed in the back all because they didn’t know a thing about good strategy and for others, just dumb luck (e.g., Jameka not being able to compete in five HOH competitions). This is part of the reason why Big Brother is the BCS of reality television. Everybody--from producers to HGs--has gotten the end result wrong more times than they have right (every season except Seasons 1, 3 & 5)

4) CBS stirring up controversy for the sake of stirring up controversy. Earlier this season, an AP task ADMITTED that Eric “needed to create controversy” in the house. As a result, he put mustard on Jen’s clothes. Is this Big Brother or The Real World? And don’t get me started on the big smack down between atheist Dick and the full-fledged Christians (Amber, Jameka, and Kail)

5) Allegations of rigging the game. These have varied from:
a) Eric doing the AP tasks on behalf of the producers, not the viewers
b) The usual distortion by CBS to make a HG likable, unlikable, or polarizing as well as editing out several parts of various incidents to make us see what the network wanted us to see
c) Rigging the game in favor of the Donatos
d) Forcing the HGs to change their votes to keep Eric instead of Kail
e) Rigging HOH contests against Eric so AP wouldn’t have such an easy ride

6) The show’s treatment of Jen. I normally don’t care that much for Chill Town, but the producers screwed her over big time, and I’ll leave it at that

New Show Ideas
1) For future seasons, they could blend in viewer voting (America’s Vote) with the HGs. I would do this: Instead of having AP, the majority of viewers would count as one vote. The only catch is that the HOH, NOT AMERICA would still break ties. Maybe precluding viewers' votes after the final four could be another possible compromise in an AV contest.

2) A Viewer’s Revenge edition would blend the most hardcore BB fans with past HGs who stood out the most.

3) International Exchange would have various BB houseguests throughout the English-speaking world (at this point, the U.S., the UK, Australia, and South Africa) appearing on other versions of Big Bro as a way of culture shock

Tonight’s Finale Recap
Too bad this is almost like Season 4’s finale except that Daniele didn’t do as much backstabbing like Alison. Too bad nobody decided to walk away instead of voting. I’d probably would have wanted to beat the living shit out of Dick if I were in the same room with him as a jury member. The good news? It's finally over

well i was wayyy off in thinking daniele would win. i do think that eric's persuading the jury towards dick's side did have a big effect.

i also think that daniele didn't get enough credit for playing the game well and winning all those competitions. just because dick was always being loud and creating controversy and recovering from it didn't mean his game was so superior to daniele.

i would have preferred daniele to win, but once zach was eliminated, things were pretty anticlimatic as dick and daniele were pretty much one entity.

While I won't disagree that America had a huge part in picking the winner this year, it was still a far cry from a popularity contest. America had control over one player and he still had to go and do all the work to get America's will to be done. There was still all the unknowns of the competitions, Alliances that Eric wasn't involved in, and other uncontrollable variables that meant that one episode of the US version still packed more excitement, gameplay, and strategy into it than a full season of UK/AU BB. I don't even sell how you can compare the two. And even if you do think that America had ALL the power this year, they still would have been voting on players that were still playing the game thinking it was like normal. If the game started out as a Popularity Contest, I think it's likely Dick wouldn't have won because a lot of the reason for his popularity was his strategy and how he played the game. If there was no game to play, I don't think there's as much reason to like from him. I'd guess at that point the winner would probably have been Danielle, Nick, or possibly Jessica if she could have survived past week 3 or 4.

As it stands now, of course America is happy with the outcome (at least a large portion of them). Dick lead the popularity contest polls on CBS.com for the majority of the season. He and Danielle were the two most popular people in the house all season (except for Danielle falling off in the last 3-4 episodes) I can understand not liking them, and by association wanting other contestants to win instead, but honestly, can you tell me one single houseguest this season that was likable at all? Certainly not Dustin, Amber, Zack, Mike, Kail, Carol or Joe. I guess Nick, Eric, Jess, or maybe Jen could have been liked under some circumstances, by some people, but I honestly don't think that anyone would like them at all if it wasn't for all the hating going on for the Donatos. I imagine that anyone that liked any of those people were only doing it out of a "lesser of two evils" type of scenario instead of any genuine reason for liking them.

Let's not forget the most important thing that would have changed if they wouldn't have changed the format: The show would have been canceled due to low ratings after season 2 was complete. I don't see how alliances would have mattered at all. Actually I'm not even really sure what point you're trying to make with all those observations. You say that having the show be a popularity contest would be bad, and then point out all the times that the show would have benefited from the format. You can't have it both ways. It's either better one way or the other.

Quote :
"Turnaround

You've got that ass-backwards. With Dick getting evicted (and Danielle most likely following the next week) the house would have had Dustin, AmBORE, Jameka, Zach, Jen, Eric, and Jessica in it. What is there to like there? That's not a show that anyone wants to watch. Talk about a snoozefest. Maybe then Eric could have had a task from America to see which player to choke to death in their sleep. I predict it would have been a 5-way tie. Say what you will about Dick, but love him or hate him, he provided entertainment to the house. Without him the show would have sucked. Having him win was the best thing that could have happened to the show as a whole.

Of course they'll never use the AP again. Why would they. But it was hardly a failure. America had a hand in the outcome, getting to see the outcome that they deemed best, but still got all the excitement that they've come to expect from Big Brother. I will agree that being America's Player screwed Eric out of having a chance to win, but I will still put a huge amount of blame back on him for not embracing the obvious popularity of Dick sooner. If he would have gotten Kail evicted instead of Nick back when he had the chance and joined forces with the "popular" people I think America would have bad his back later on in the game.

The rest of your nonsense I couldn't really make heads or tails of. The show wasn't perfect, by any stretch of the imagination, but that can be blamed on the complete lack of personality from almost every single houseguest that wasn't Dick or Daniele. The fact that Dick won took a shitty season, and made it not only bearable, but pretty awesome to watch.

My recap of your recap? You disagree with the majority of America and are bitter because you didn't like the outcome they picked. Tough luck, it happens. There was only one possible outcome of this season that wouldn't have resulted in a disaster and that is if a Donato would have won. It's what the most people wanted, it's what the voters made happen. Just because you find yourself disagreeing with the majority, that doesn't mean the show as a whole failed. Quite the opposite actually.

i must agree with nearly everything 4howl1 has posted. Most of the people that I know watch the show did not want to see dick in the final two. Who's to say that CBS didn't skew the votes in dick's favor? Sounds a little underhanded, which i'm sure CBS wouldn't do...
I think CBS saw a failing season and that they had to keep Dick in at all cost, so why not skew just a little and make america think they had control? anyways, enough conspiracy theories.

recap on last night, i hated it. However, if i had to vote, i would have voted for dick, because with dick winning, it kinda pissed both donoto's off a little. i think dick really wanted danielle to win, and daniele's whining ass 'honestly' wanted to win....so, vote for dick. sure, they still get money....but i think they both wanted daniele to have the crown of season 8.
