holy shit they opened a Brother Jimmy's in Union Square?
I used to work for Brother Jimmy's and helped them open the Murray Hill location a couple of years ago 10/29/2010 9:20:29 AM |

I agree with ^
Yeah, it's on 16th and Irving - great space! I still <3 the 77th street location though. 10/30/2010 1:46:51 PM |

My wife just got introduced to a 2nd cousin she didnt know she had. We had planned on going to NY and staying with her other relatives. That fell through but we had already bought tickets to the pin stripe bowl. (I wanted to take her to Yankee Stadium more than the actual football game. And I didn't have to watch baseball.)
So we are trying to figure out how not to pay 200-300 bucks per night and not stay 2 hours away from the center of the city (this is Dec 26th-Jan 2nd. Hotels are more expensive for obvious reasons). So her 2nd cousin shows up and happens to be a former NY city cop. Undercover narcotics. Anyway, he calls up his cop buddy and manages to get us a friends and family rate at the Holiday Inn Express for 99 bucks per night.
Not only that, but his other buddy owns a pizzeria that we can check out and probably get some hookups.
So we got 2 city passes, a list of things to do, and a ton of fresh snow. Will provide pics.

I had to shovel my way out of my apartment today. I live on the bottom floor of a brownstone and have my own entrance and when I opened the door the snow was up to my waiste. More cars stuck in the snow than I can count.

i arrived in Newark from CLT at 4:10pm and it was a whiteout. i only saw two other planes land after that and all other arrivals and departures were canceled. barely made the cut to get home. 12/27/2010 4:01:29 PM |

Hey NYC people, what would you recommend for New Year's Eve besides Times Square and shitty bars that advertise that Drake and Nikki Minaj have been there? In other words, NYE festivities with a manageable douchebag quotient. Any advice? We're gonna be up there staying at a friend's place but she's out of town and we don't know a lot of people who will be there so we're looking for something to do. 12/28/2010 11:19:42 AM |

I may be taking the Jitney (or train) from Long Island into the city for a day trip on Dec 30th. Any suggestions??
Last year on our day trip we already checked out the WTC wreckage, wall st., little italy, china town, times square.

^^^I'd recommend either a loft or hotel suite party. Find a friend or a friend of a friend having one of those. If you can't swing one of those, I dunno what to tell you. That's what I did when I lived up there.
HUR, I recommend bar hopping in greenwich village. Immerse yourself in the culture. Off the Wagon, Peculiar Pub, Broome Street Bar and McSorley's are some good bars to start your hopping (though McSorley's is around a 10 block walk from the others I mentioned). 12/29/2010 10:19:56 AM |
