I'd say neither. My guess is that they're goons, or at least something God took off of SA.

^^^^Even noobs have to learn somewhere. When I started playing I didn't know how to upgrade a turrent, whether I could move it, or how to dismantle it. All my teammates did was bitch about how stupidly placed it was, blah blah blah, but when I asked specific questions, no one helped me out. So I was like, fine, they can just deal with it.

noob!

I definately sucked as a demo man for the first few hours I played it, but now it's a must-play for some maps. i still suck with the scout shotgun for the most part, and usually only play as one on 2fort (because I do have double jumping down pat). I still think spy can be the toughest to play with, and that's because I haven't become one with my cloak meter

i dont really have a problem with n00bs cause everyone learns. however as an engineer, a good one is really helpful. i do have a problem with people that can actually play well but insist on being camping snipers to boost their score.

^and ive still yet to get a handle on the demoman, but im making some progress.

demo is easily my favorite class. I like destroying several minutes worth of engineer work with a few clicks of the mouse. Between that and nailing scouts with the grenade launcher... mmmm fun.

I usually play demo as more of an offensive class rather than defensive. I don't have the attention span to sit near the flag with my stickys and blow people up as they come.

My best class is def spy.

They key is always having an exit strategy...you have to set yourself up so that if your making more than 1 kill you need to merc the fuckers and then redisguise as fast as possible, I try and duck behind some stuff if I can. If you don't already know the "B" button will activate your last disguise, its alot easier then hitting 4 then selecting your disguise again.

The biggest thing is using your cloak effectively you can't uncloak in the middle of 3 people and expect them not to notice, you'll get insta-killed. And by all means stay the fuck away from pyros, if I see one I turn around and run the other way.

My highest number of backstabs is like 8 in one round (by round i mean before dying). I got in a group of snipers and just went to town on them scoped in.

The one thing I miss most about spy that I think is the ability to feign death, that made it possible to set up some badass scenarios. I guess cloak is supposed to take its place...but oh well.

The thing I miss most about spy is in TFC in the first couple years there was an exploit where you could feign death in water, drown to death, and then when an enemy ran over your dead body you could slide around the map at will as a dead body freaking people out.

Ah thanks for the group invite.

I saw a few of you in some games, but I need to get better before I play in some TWW matches. If any pop up that is.

Oh yea do most servers turn off chatting? I hit "y" for text and I type something and nothing shows up in the window or the game.

OK, I never played TFC or anything like that. The last FPS I played was Counterstrike. So, please forgive me for my newb-ish question.

Does this game have a monthly subscription fee to play? I'm thinking about picking it up on the way home from work today.

I suck at demoman.

My best classes are engineer and spy, I'm really trying to the spy skillz up because in a lot of the games I play in, the top-scoring individual has been a spy. They must be doing something right to get 200+ points....

^^It's because you get a point for destroying something as simple as a dispenser, teleporter, or halfway-built item. If a spy manages to down an engineer's turret without being killed, it's likely that they will be getting two other points to go with it for the nearby dispenser and teleport. I try not to play exclusively as one class, and switch depending upon the situation. This usually nets me 150-200 points (generally top-3) in a full-length game.

Also, I LOVE the fact that TF2 does not discourage dieing in combat. In Halo, a game where most matches are Slayer/Team Slayer, people tend to look at someones kill/death ratio as to how useful they are. And this works for a game where whoever gets more kills first wins. What I dislike is when I have a good number of kills compared to the rest of the team but it has a net negative effect on the game as a whole. Granted, I could stop this by changing my strategy, but not only is it less fun, but it feels like I'm not being as useful by retreating and surviving as I could be by rushing in and taking out at least one enemy.

In other words, I prefer the "Kills per minute" approach of TF2's goal-oriented gameplay, as opposed to the "kills per life" approach of most other shooters. Suicide bumrushing deserves to be a legitimate strategy. That said... camping demomen, I know 30 kills in one life looks good on your stats, but if that one life lasted 15+ minutes, how useful were you, really?

agreed. much better scoring method in tf2, i would always get tired of the whiny campers with a stupid kill/death ratio just because they would make everyone else do the work and if not for the rest of the team dying they would be completely useless

Seems to me that both of them were saying exactly that. TF2 does a much better job of relating team contribution to personal score.

That doesn't work if the person is on fire and runs away or if there are 10 people shooting at the same guy or if the entire room is full of explosions.

nothing's better than getting on a server with a bunch of your friends and dominating it until the server's killed

and I played on an entertaining custom map yesterday...think it was called duel2 or something like that...basically a big circular room with spawn rooms on either side...massive kill fest...annoying at first, but then it got fun. especially got fun when our team got 5 sentry guns/dispensers set up on just dominated....at one point I was dominating 8 of the 11 people on the other team

Hahahaha I was just in the funniest server ever. Whenever someone got shot, instead of blood, confetti came out. If a person got blown up, intead of random guys/body parts flying around it had presents and balloons. The best though was when it went to sudden death. It spawned everyone on each team as a heavy without a gun, just fists. Then it started playing the Benny Hill music right as all of us started punching each other.

This is way better than Halo 3. It's not repetitive like Halo 3 is (Slayer/Team Slayer ad nauseum) and theres enough depth to each class to give the game longevity.

I had the misfortune of having my Steam account hacked last month, and when I got it back my name was "HS Death Gigas" or some weird shit like that. Apparently he was some top clan leader in Counter Strike and TF2 and the first day I started playing again I got all these messages from people in his clan. I went to their website and he posted some shit about "i regret to inform you that i will no longer be playing counterstrike" or some bullshit like that. Now whenever his clan members send me messages, I do my best to destroy his clan.
