its pretty obvious that Costner and McCauley are not happy about sitting. Just look at them when they're on the bench or anything else, ESPECIALLY McCauley. I don't think i saw him clap or crack a smile once tonight. And when grant said postgame that some guys were complaining about not getting shots.....gotta be Costner. He only had 5 shots.

^ Yeah, they need to get over that stuff. At the same time I don't like all of our offense flowing through Hickson. Sure he's good enough for us to win like that, but as far as team chemistry goes, him being the #1 stunna isn't going to help things. And when teams get wise that half of our plays are called for Hickson, they'll triple team him and make the guys we've been neglecting all year (McCauley, Costner, Fells, etc.) beat them. It won't be easy for those guys to win it for us, if their just use to giving the ball off to Hickson and watching him go to work.

^i agree. I feel like we're looking to hickson WAYY too much, and that argument is proved in the stat sheet. Hickson had 18 attempts and nobody else had more than 8(Grant). Given, JJ had 4 offensive rebounds so added to his total attempts, but i mean, it seems everytime down court we're passing it around the perimeter trying to get it inside to JJ.

hopefully everybody can work out their differences and accept their new roles on the team, after last year I'm sure they all went out feeling like stars, and I remember McCauley's quote a while back when he said of course none of the starters want to give up their spots and they'll be fighting to keep them.

That explains the apathetic playing on Costner's part, though McCauley still put forth some good effort in his minutes, just couldn't make them fall as much as he needed to. Fells was just completely flat all game except for that one three near the end.

This cannot be a one man show, and most of the scoring this game came from individual efforts, not team efforts.

And who the hell thought it was a good idea to play trevor ferguson so much these games, he rode the bench most of last year, even when we were hurting so badly from the lack of depth. Now that we need him even less, he should never touch the court again. We've got more talented freshman like Smith that should be taking some of that time...

This is circular logic if I've ever heard it. How can the other players get into any kind of rhythm if every time they miss a shot or two, Lowe resigns himself to just feed the ball to Hickson every time down the court? Of course Hickson is going to be the playmaker if you always call the plays for him. And it's impossible to hit the broadside of a barn if you aren't even allowed (and by allowed I mean have a play called that's designed for you) to shoot the ball.

look at the way they're shooting though. A lot of those shots were forced and quick. You make good choices, you get the ball. If you just throw up hurried shots, then you shouldn't get the ball.

^^^That was the one thing I was kinda worried about after this. We are now comparable to Michigan State losing to GVSU in exhibition, Kentucky losing to Gardner Webb, and USC losing to Mercer. We're not alone out there, and I'm sure those teams, along with us, will bounce back stronger.

^^ I'll agree with you there. I'm just saying it would probably get pretty old, if every time down the floor, Lowe calls the play for Hickson. Which according to some of the post-game interviews, it sounds like was the case. Some of those hurried shots may have been coming out of frustration.
