Nice win over the Wizards tonight 101-89 ... even though it's the Wizards
Bobcats started Augustin and Felton again tonight, and it worked really well. Augustin had 24 points. Felton nearly had a triple double with 15 points, 9 boards, 8 assists.
Also, Vlad was 8-14 for 21 points. Once again, it's looking like the Bobs made out like bandits on a trade. 2/11/2009 9:46:04 PM |

Gotta give credit where credit is due. This team has pulled off a couple decent trades lately.
They won again without 2 of their best players. With Wallace and Bell coming back after the all-star break, this team could put a run together.
Now lets see if they deal Felton or not. It might make sense to hold on to him the way he's been playing the past few weeks. 2/11/2009 9:54:32 PM |

Beat the Kings last night 98-91. I don't know if I've ever seen a more no-name team in the NBA than the Kings. It's Drew Gooden, Bobby Jackson, and a bunch of random parts (Rashard McCants included).
Anyway, Wallace was solid with 27 points ... he had a monster alley-oop jam from Felton that was a top-3 play on SportsCenter. Augustin was 4-4 on 3pts. Not a pretty win, but the bobcats are terrible on the road. I'll take it. 2/26/2009 12:11:06 PM |

Kevin Martin has become somewhat of a name, only because he's their only real scoring option on the wing. He's not that good ... and has one of the weirdest looking shots I've ever seen.
Ask most casual fans who he is (outside of Western NC) and they'd probably be lost. 2/26/2009 12:28:01 PM |

I'd venture to say that 99% of casual NBA fans know who Kevin Martin is.
As far as "casual fans"...I don't really know what that means. If you just slightly follow the NBA, you should know who Kevin Martin is. 2/26/2009 12:50:15 PM |

^^not 99 percent, not even close

I'd consider my brother a casual NBA fan. He knows what teams are good, their makeup, who got drafted where (for the most part), and the strengths/weaknesses of the NBA's top players. He'll watch a game if it's on, but doesn't go out of his way to watch any particular team.
He had never heard of Kevin Martin.
Don't discount the fact that he played at Western Carolina. People around here may be slightly more familiar with him, but elsewhere, he's a mystery. 2/26/2009 2:52:18 PM |

Pretty winnable schedule throughout the month of March. As long as Okafor's ankle is alright (tweaked it against the Clips) the Bcats has a serious chance of making a playoff push. 3/2/2009 10:57:45 PM |

here's a question somebody asked on the radio today:
Would you rather the Bobcats squeak into the 8th spot and most likely lose to Boston or Cleveland, but make the playoffs, host a couple playoff games, etc...or would you rather the Bobcats miss the playoffs and maybe get a nice lottery pick and try to make a run next year after hopefully getting a nice rookie?
I would say make the playoffs...somehow, the Bobcats actually match up rather well relatively with the Lakers and Celtics among others, so I wouldn't completely fear a 7 game series with Boston like some other team's fans might...I think they would beat us, but all that matters is the first team to win 4 games...getting a high draft pick could be good as well, I wouldn't mind a Blake Griffin, but we don't have the best draft history either (we includes MJ)] 3/2/2009 11:01:05 PM |

i'd say playoffs because what they really need is some interest. a run at the playoffs and a couple games at home even if they lose in the first round would stimulate some interest goin into next year. its been kinda interesting seeing the evolution of the fanbase just a tiny bit since they've creeped back into the picture after the trades. would be even better to hear people interested during the offseason and actually showing up for games.
long term, draft pick might be best, but given their draft history, its no sure bet. 3/2/2009 11:35:44 PM |

Agreed on the playoffs. This team definitely needs some postseason experience. Having a marquee team like the Celtics come to town would be HUGE for the city of Charlotte. Plus, they seem to matchup with the Celtics pretty nicely. 3/3/2009 10:18:25 AM |

I love to see balance scoring like that. Raja Bell by himself might be more valuable to this team than Jason Richardson. I'm still amazed how well that trade is working out.
We need to keep tabs on the Bucks too. They're the team the Bobcats are chasing for that final playoff spot. 3/3/2009 9:44:21 PM |

Bucks lost, but it was to the Nets (another team in the playoff hunt). Not sure if that helps.
Looks like Bell's arm was giving him trouble all night. Hope he's alright. Okafor and Felton both tweaked their ankles but played, and Wallace's ribs got pounded all night. The bobcats might not be that talented of a team, but they're pretty fucking tough. 3/4/2009 12:12:43 AM |
