ahahaha holy shit.

god i'd go crying down the streets if we ever had ovie here. he's great

and tbh^ that's the kind of thing i could see ESPN bitching about for like a week if it was a player of similar status in the NFL/NBA doing that.

IT BEGINS.

I think the Penguins should have tried to get a draft pick out of it too. I mean Kunitz is fine, but I just don't think the Penguins got enough out of this trade (personally). Hopefully that sets the market though and if the Canes do make any trades the market is lower than originally expected and a good deal could be pulled off.

But I still don't think this is the trade the Penguins needed to make, they needed a quality winger for Crosby and/or Malkin line. I think they should've said Whitney for Bobby Ryan and maybe the prospect instead of Chris Kunitz. Just my feelings though.

^Forslund said one of his idols tonight was Eric Staal. Hopefully Eric can go to the net tomorrow night like he did in his first game. I am up in NY for spring break and to be honest, I wish I would've went to that game. The only thing that stopped me was way too much snow and a lack of caring about to bottom of NHL teams. However, the game was exciting to watch and I do regret that decision.

Deadline day hype is ramping up

Quote :
"As expected, the New York Rangers claimed Sean Avery on re-entry waivers today and the super pest is back in the NHL. The Rangers are responsible for half of Avery's remaining contract - another three years with an annual cap hit of $3.875 million. The Dallas Stars are responsible for the other half."

Quote :
"The Minnesota Wild have locked up a big piece of their franchise as they have signed goaltender Niklas Backstrom to a four-year contract extension. The deal is worth $6 million per season and ends all speculation that the Finnish netminder would be on the move at the NHL's Trade Deadline on Wednesday."

Quote :
"Sources tell TSN three teams remain in pursuit of Phoenix Coyotes defenceman Derek Morris. The Washington Capitals, Philadelphia Flyers and the Boston Bruins are still negotiating with the Coyotes for Morris."

Jordan Leopold to Calgary for garbage, a prospect, and a pick.

Supposedly Calgary is close to making a deal for Oli Jokinen.

I would love to have Oli Jokinen, I think the Coyotes should try to keep him and sign him for a while. The guy has been a great player with a line up of sub-par players.

and the announcer at one point said "nothing but red jerseys in the stands" uhhh what, there were more penguin's fans in there than the usual visiting fanbase, from the sounds of it

Burke scoffs at thought of ban on fighting

March 8, 2009 at 9:55 PM EDT

NAPLES, FLA. — Brian Burke has a plan in case any of his fellow NHL general managers this week want to recommend a ban on fighting.

“I will personally challenge anyone who wants to get to rid of fighting to a fight,” Burke said.

The Toronto Maple Leafs president and general manager, one of the league's loudest opponents to any sort of ban on fighting, was joking.

If its actually true.. good because they come back to ESPN/2 weekly, bad because the finals are not on broadcast TV.
