Do you have a link for that Dan Auerbach? The link I found was dead.

i know i'm a homer

but the new u2 (sans a dry spell in the middle for 2 songs or so) is definitely another step in their evolution... almost like a step from joshua to actung...they've got a lot of new sounds for them... only problem is that they slide into "u2" on a couple of choruses when the radiohead stuff was working VERY well for them

on vinyl and with some good headphones, this album would be perfectly suited

but i guess if you hate bono (which is perfectly justified), that's not gonna happen

I don't mind u2, but they've just never been a band I've been excited about releasing new music. I've just never been into them that way. And I probably won't start now haha

So this Neko Case album is pretty great, even though the last track is a 30 minute recording of crickets.

I picked up the Dark Was the Night album last night, i'm running through it for the first time now and am really digging it. I've heard several cuts from SiriusXMU but the others are great too.

anyone here like the Great Lake Swimmers?

i did purchase it. i assumed me saying that i picked it up would hint at that, as well as the fact that i said i was going to purchase it on the last page.

but to digress, it rocks.

Diego Bernal - For Corners

http://www.antipop.net/forcorners.zip

from http://www.antipop.net/releases/exp15.php:

For Corners is the first full length album from Diego Bernal, a civil rights attorney and beatsmith, located in San Antonio, TX. For Corners is Diego Bernal's love letter to the music, cultures, era and people that nurtured him.

The music is dusty and layered with Latin soul, from the triumphant blasts of horns to the laid back groove of lowrider melodies. It is a call to return to the simplicity and integrity of hip-hop's best moment and an invitation to enjoy a slightly different kind of southern comfort. Not so much dirty south as directly south. The full album is a completely free download. Enjoy!

not bad background music

might have to check that out...I really enjoy a lot of latin music or music with some ties to latin influences. Thats what made mars volta's "frances the mute" so good to me and why I love the music in Dexter so much

its catchy but a lot of this kind of stuff never stands the test of time with me. Its stuff that is fun to listen to for awhile, and then after the newness has worn off I almost never go back to it. Can't say that for sure since I just got it but thats what happens with most other stuff that sounds like this to me.

oh i was speaking more to this albums sound - mind you on first few listens through. Im not a really big fan anyways but I do have their last 2 as well and like them a fair bit. I was more leaning more towards this album's sound and some of what it reminds me of. Just seems like over the past few years there have been a lot of kinda "dancy" albums that were really catchy but most of them havent stood the test of time with me. I dono, I'm not very good at articulating this ha.

^ I understand what you're saying, and I completely agree.

Very few of the "dancy" albums make a lasting impression once their newness of their simple hooks have worn off.

cursive is the type of band that you need to hear the album as a whole as opposed to single tracks
