Point guard is no longer this teams problem. Mays played a good game tonight. There have been plenty of games this year where we got adequate point guard play. The problem is, that our fucking seniors lay an egg way too often. McCauley I didn't even see him play tonight. Fells? after the first 5 minutes he was gone. Costner? haha.

Don't take anything away from Ben. The guy played hard and had a decent night statistically (7/10, 14pt, 7rb). He just can't carry a whole front court by himself.

But Fells and Costner were big let downs. I'm to the point now where i don't give a damn if Costner comes back or not. Bring on Howell please.

Like I said, he needs to distribute the ball more, the other players started standing around once they realized they weren't going to get the ball. He didn't have a bad game, but he was looking for his own shot way too much.

no, he didn't just jack up a shot as soon as he got the ball across halfcourt, he would make one or two passes on the perimeter without even trying to go inside and then shoot...we aren't going to win any games by shooting 3's on a large percentage of possessions

There were times that I wished mays would shoot the damn ball and he tried to run the offense. Whats amazing, is that he scored most of the time with the shot clock running down.

i wish costner the best in europe or wherever he ends up, but i really hope he doesn't come back. too much of a risk to gameplan with him as a viable offensive option (shoot, or defensive for that matter) and have him not show up for games.

Mays played good, but you're way off here. Mays didn't create because he can't. He's not quick enough to penetrate or crafty enough with his passes to get a lot of assists. Half of his passes were terrible (throwing bounce passes to Fells when he was 3 feet from him).

Javi is a creator, and he's been doing it the whole last half of the season. That's why our shooting % has been sky high over the last half of the season (i think we might lead the conference in this stat). Unfortunately, Maryland's zone seemed to completely limit his penetration for some reason.

Still, Javi is a PG. Mays is a very short SG

I was wondering what happened to Smith too. Maybe Lowe thought the zone was so effective against his mediocre guards that they couldn't get it down to Smith anyways, thus making him ineffective. Gary Williams was smart to make us beat them with our guards.
