Along the lines of the Wallace Wright signing earlier this week, they've discussed a deal with San Francisco CB Marcus Hudson, an N.C. State product who's primarily a special teams player. " |

we officially got Hudson, and some backup o-lineman
Quote : | "The Panthers continued what by their recent standards was a busy day by agreeing to a one-year deal with former San Francisco defensive back Marcus Hudson.
Earlier Monday, they signed reserve offensive lineman Rob Petitti.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder has been a solid special teams player and occasional cornerback for the 49ers. He played his first two seasons with the 49ers under assistant special teams coach Jeff Rodgers, who is now the Panthers special teams coach.
The 27-year-old Hudson has played in 48 games with the 49ers, but no starts. He was a safety at N.C. State, and has worked there as well for the 49ers, getting most of his action in nickel and dime situations.
Hudson makes the third offseason acquisition, with their previous signings of WR Wallace Wright and Petitti." |

thought i'd share a message from deangelo
Quote : | "Hey trouble makers I want to rant a little about the release if hooooooover. That was maybe the craziest move in panther history i dont care if he couldnt run or couldnt catch to save his life but the guy blocks his butt off. He and Stew have single handly pro longed my career and i can never thank him enough for that. I feel like i lost my brother the other day when they let him go. So to honor him (when i remember) im going to sport his jersey in support of him. I know at the end of the day its a business but damn in order to make money on a product you have to have age panther front office you dont start over duh!!!!!

interview with Smitty
Quote : | "March 23, 2010 Smith: Losing teammates 'sad news'
Interviewed Steve Smith earlier this evening. His thoughts on:
The Panthers releasing players like Jake Delhomme and Brad Hoover:
"First of all, it's a business. Unfortunately guys were released. That's sad news. I lost some friends. My wife lost some friends who are moving away. That was unexpected. But one day, I'm going to be released as well. It's part of the game."
If it came as a surprise:
"Every year...there are some surprises. To say one was particularly surprising...this is a 'what you have you done for me lately' league and 'you're only as good as you're last game.' So hearing this on our team or another team, it doesn't surprise me. You can retire, get cut before you retire or get hurt. It's going to happen."
On Matt Moore being the starting QB:
"The way Matt played the last four games, he deserves all the accolades. He's a young guy, yes he is. Everybody at some point was where Matt is, a young guy waiting for an opportunity -- including myself. If Matt does what he's worked on, he'll be as good as he wants to be. But for me to say what kind of quarterback, he'll be, that's not my area."
Comfortable with the direction the team is heading?
"This second, today? We can anticipate all day, but if the season started today, we would be down. We don't have a potential third string quarterback or a bona fide backup quarterback. We don't have a guy we're considering for Moose's spot. There's a lot of areas we're missing. So now, we're an unfinished product."
Thoughts on being the Panthers' player rep:
"One of the things I got out of (meetings in Hawaii) is knowledge. I don't know exactly what's going on yet, and when I do I'll feel more comfortable talking about it. Ultimately what we're looking at is not a strike by players, but a lockout by the NFL. We would not be afforded the right to go to work. As the rep and a player, I have to prepare myself and my family for a lockout. I have to tell the young guys on the team, point them in the right direction about assisting with information financially about what they need to do, and with the lack of medical coverage."
Panthers owner Jerry Richardson's leadership role with the owners:
"All the stuff I've read, they're united. That's great. The NFLPA is unified as well. With Mr. Richardson at the helm, he's a man of integrity and one of the owners that's played the game. He knows what it's about, what this game is. With him there, it's going to be more of a push together to allow football to go on and not deal with a lockout. That's what I take, knowing very well the integrity and the things Mr. Richardson tells the players and what he stands for." -- David Scott" | ]3/23/2010 8:12:25 PM |

that being said, the only difference here is the potential return of salary cap for NFL that will never happen in MLB.

The only thing consistent about this franchise is that we alternate between mediocre years (7-9, 8-8) and good years (11-5, 12-4)

Don't forget the panthers still have
-The best RB tandem in the league -A really solid Oline -One of the most explosive WR's in the game -One of the best young tandem of LB's in the league
Even without adding anything, the Panthers have a lot of pieces in place. Add a good WR, maybe a DT or two, and hope Matt Moore is the real deal ... could be a big year 4/15/2010 1:45:01 PM |

Yeah we need to add one more explosive receiver, b/c im not sold on Dwayne Jarret from USC9atleast on what he can do NFL wise), and we need a 'solid' back-up QB in case (God-forbid) something happens to Matt Moore during the season, and one dominate, shut down Cornerback!
Im glad to see Matt Moore finally get his change behind center!! GO PANTHERS!! 4/15/2010 1:56:43 PM |

AWAY Atlanta New Orleans Tampa Bay Seattle St. Louis Cleveland Pittsburgh New York Giants
Tampa Bay x2, Seattle, Cleveland, St. Lous, San Fran, Arizona (with everything they lost) should all be very winnable
Atlanta at home, Cincinnati, Chicago, NY, and Pitt are all potential wins. 4/15/2010 2:07:01 PM |
